Wow wow! Stayed here for 4 nights and we had an amazing experience! Impressed with the quaintness, quiet surroundings and cleanliness. Several times after our tours we went back to our rooms to rest or change, and each time we came back to a friendly smile, to our rooms cleaned, beds perfectly made and bathrooms spotless. We were even greeted with ice cold refreshing tea! You made our first time Rome experience even more memorable ❤️. Thank you!!!

I spent 4 nights at this lovely little hotel located just a 5-minute walk from the Colosseum and a 15-minute walk from Termini Station (great for day trips to Pompeii and Amalfi Coast). My room was very comfortable and quiet, and the optional 15 euro breakfast was very nice. The hotel is in the Monti neighborhood, the best combination of old, hip, and easy to get around, just off Via Cavour. I appreciated it even more after walking through the main tourist part of Rome; even though Rome was crowded due to the Jubilee, Monti never felt overwhelming. An amazing little pizza place and the Curi Curi cafe are a few steps from the hotel, there's a gelateria on every corner, and an ancient piazza with beautiful fountain that seems to serve as a public gathering spot is around the corner. The hotel staff is very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay at this gem in the heart of Rome! The location couldn’t have been better—just minutes from the Colosseum, close to the metro, and within walking distance to great local restaurants serving delicious pizza, pasta, and, of course, gelato. We even found a convenient laundry nearby. The hotel itself was spotless, with modern bathrooms and incredibly helpful staff who made everything easy. While the rooms are on the smaller side, they’re perfectly cozy for relaxing and just big enough to remind you to get out and explore the city. A great balance of comfort and motivation to sightsee! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, well-located, and welcoming place to stay in Rome.

Fabulous!! A very quaint and eccentric boutique hotel. Very well priced and Duca D'Alba was the perfect stay for our family trip to Rome. Every member of the staff is superb, attentive, gracious, genuine and most of all committed to their craft!! Polite, gracious, knowledgeable and well informed. They happily answered all of our questions whenever we asked them. Stay here and you too will be impressed and pleasantly surprised by this center of Rome jewel!!

This is a great hotel if you aren’t expecting much. It’s simple and not particularly aesthetic or anything but the AC in the room worked great, it was clean, front desk staff was nice, and the bathroom was nicely re-modelled. It’s very close to a metro station so it was easy to get to from the airport. I liked being near the colosseum and the neighbourhood in general is charming.

We visited Rome early this month. This hotel is 10 minutes from The Colosseum, 15 minute walk to Roma Termini, so it's centrally located. Great communication, very clean rooms, and very friendly staff. Our flights were delayed a whole day, so we reached out and advised them, so they kept our reservation - which was great! (Again, quick/friendly communication gave us one less thing to worry about while dealing with travel woes.) There are plenty of very authentic Rome restaurants nearby. We'd highly recommend this hotel.

I was expecting a very small room. But this hotel was not bad at all. My husband and I were out in the morning to start our day and back at night. So honestly if you’re only going to Rome to tour this is perfect. And it’s right near a lot of restaurants, shopping and GELATO! Also near a lot of tourist attraction. Perfect spot. The cab will pick up and drop off. Seems impossible because it’s like a tight spot but these drivers know what they’re doing. They do room service every day. Breakfast isn’t included but they have it. Not a problem for us since the hotel is near alot of breakfast place. Staff were very friendly. Oh and they have an elevator! Highly recommend!

Due to some travel difficulties and errors that were not on the part of the hotel, my family arrived at the hotel and found our reservation had been canceled and they were completely booked. Max, the gentleman at the front desk, went above and beyond to take care of us and make sure we found a hotel. He was exceptional and while we did not end of staying past our first night, I'm extremely grateful for the kindness, hard work and accomodation Max provided us.

Yelp
We had a lovely 3-night stay at the Duca d'Alba - family of 4. Yes, count on location being perfect - Colosseum, Metro, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps - all right there. At first glance, the neighborhood might seem sketchy, but once you get to know it, it's lovely - lots of young ppl, good energy; we felt very safe. We booked a Junior Suite (€733.08 for 3 nights - discount for paying cash). AC was awesome - double pane windows so no noise problems from outside. We did have to walk around the corner to our room, and up a flight of stairs - configuration through hall might seem a little weird to some, but we were fine and experienced no problems being in this part of the building. It was kind of fun as you are on the street and it feels like you're going home instead of to a hotel. Lovely street views from our windows. I would pass on the breakfast - my teens weren't fans, and I wasn't too impressed. Good breakfast place down the block (5 minutes) - La Licata. All staff we encountered, were very courteous and helpful - helped us get our laundry done at a place around the corner. Hotel has no parking, but just down the street is a parking garage - was pretty easy. Great experience all around!

Yelp
I didn't get any rest in my first few days in Rome :( The hotel was a huge disappointment. It was supposed to be a treat for me. It was a lot of suffering. I was given a larger room called a double for single use in the "annex" which is a building behind the hotel. It was two hard twin beds pushed together. I wanted to stay in the hotel proper but I didn't even get to see it. Problem #1: No air conditioning. It was 80+ degrees Fahrenheit outside. This room faced an enclosed space that had little to no air flow even with the one window on two sides I could open. I felt like I could not breath. The facility man gave me a fan. That was the hotel's resolution. Problem 2: Noise. Thin walls such that I could hear my neighbors talking loudly after they returned at night at 2am. The 2nd night there were raucous pigeons making noise outside my window. At 8am, the sound of drilling in the building made me cringe. Noise was non-stop. Problem 3: the night desk clerk was no help in answering my questions on the best place to get an Italian sim card. She said, "Go to Via Nazionale" which is a huge boulevard. She just shrugged her shoulders when I mentioned the broken A/C. Being on vacation in a foreign land it is important if staying in a hotel that you're cared for. This hotel didn't do that. By the way, breakfast is €12! Outrageous! The location in the center of the "hip" Monti neighborhood is ideal. It is close to Metro Cavour. Also, it is a 13 minute walk from Termini station. These last 2 points keep me from rating this hotel a 2 star. Location: 4 stars Bed: Firm 2.5 stars (the mattress was leaning towards hard-maybe this is an Italian thing) Service staff: Housekeeping was 5 stars Front desk staff: 3 stars. Daytime front desk was the best with concierge keys on his lapel showing his training and experience. Interiors: modern. Shower: rain type shower Amenities: oatmeal base body and hair shampoo seemed drying for my skin. Overall: 3 stars for this hotel.

Yelp
I booked a 5-night reservation here with credit card points, and it turned out to be a good choice for my needs. The best part about the hotel is its central location. It is super close to the Colosseum and other attractions (we walked practically everywhere!), and situated in the Monti neighborhood, which is full of bustling shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafes- including a number of non-Italian eateries for when we needed a break from pizza and pasta. Even though we stayed in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, the room was quiet at night and we slept well. An unexpected bonus was that we also had a private patio! The only "not so great" things were that the room and bathroom were pretty small, the TV was pretty small and only offered a limited number of channels/programming (no streaming available), and the daily breakfast buffet was mediocre compared to everything outside the hotel. Otherwise, it was great to stay here as a resting spot in between all our outings!

Yelp
Grateful for this hotel and their kindness and generosity. Would stay here if ever in Rome. My wife was suffering from the heat and they kindly let us shelter in their lobby while she recovered. Thank you so much.

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL. We booked this hotel for a part of our honeymoon and we thought a four star hotel would be wonderful in Rome (the hotels we stayed at in Florence and Venice the week before were amazing), but the hotel room we stayed in was not in a SINGLE picture on their website or any of the travel websites. We were basically in a closet (we couldn't lay both of our suitcases on the floor at one time and forget even opening the closet) that had a shower in it.... Meaning IN the bedroom itself. Due to that extremely non-hygienic fact, the bedroom constantly smelled like mold. The hotel room itself wasn't even in the actual hotel, it was in a separate building that looks like a dungeon. You get up to your room by cold concrete steps and you are met with a dormitory-style set-up. There are 4 "hotel rooms" crammed into 1 community space, so you can hear EVERYTHING. We talked to the hotel staff about this and they were rude and unaccommodating. I have looked at the pictures on the website and what we stayed in is 100% different and ruined our stay in Rome. I've looked at all of the other comments people have left and how the owner responded with "this is what you payed for" and "we are so clean", but those are just complete excuses. Complete false advertising and I'm disgusted with the owner and the rude staff. This hotel is not 4 stars, maybe a 1 star IF that (my advice is to look at Grand Hotel Palatino or Rome Times Hotel-- we've walked by those many times and those are true four star hotels).

Yelp
I'm a little torn here. This hotel is in a fantastic location. There are many bars and cafés here. And, it's a stones throw from the Coliseum. But, a couple of missteps. The good; boutiquey hotel in a hip neighborhood. The room is well appointed with an extra comfy bed and pillows. Fast internet and free breakfast. The bad; our room is located in a separate building. The halls on the separate building need a good painting and some art on the walls. And, better lighting. Biggest complaint, bare with me here, you have to navigate through a warren of stairs and halls. We got lost when we returned from dinner as there are three doors to choose from. Exasperated, I asked the front desk which door. She said second. Our key opened up the second door, we walked about the hall/stairs and concluded this was the wrong door. Went back to front desk, not second door really...third door. Really!? Thanks. So glad to be shlepping up and down stairs to find our little dungeon of a room. Sweaty and frustrated at this point. So, maybe they can fix that with some signs...lighting?? Something. So weird. I'm undecided if I would stay here again. Friendly staff makes me want to say I would.

Yelp
We were pretty happy with our stay here. Location is great--just down the street from the Cavour metro stop, close to a bunch of wonderful little pizzerias, cafes, gelaterias, restaurants, etc., a few minutes walk from the Colosseum. The room was dark with no natural light and it was super dated looking especially with the weird striped walls (which contributed to the darkness) but it was clean and the bathroom was pretty modern. The front desk staff is super helpful and set us up with a taxi reservation when it was time for us to leave to go to the airport. Travelers may already be aware of this but note that there is a 5 EUR per person per night overnight accommodation charge imposed by the city.

Yelp
Superb. I booked our Rome trip as a BA holiday packaged with our flights. I did hours of research before choosing Duca d'Alba and I couldn't be more pleased. As others have already said, it's located close to the Colliseum and tons of eateries - far enough off the tourist track to be authentic and reasonably priced. The Cavour metro station is at the end of the street, just 100 yards away. Attains and her colleagues made us very welcome and breakfast had a good selection to choose from. We also had a room -D3-in the annexe and it was great value, clean and spacious. I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Spend our first 2 nights in Italy at this hotel, the location is great because it's a couple minutes walking from the coliseum and like 10 seconds from a train station. There's a cute cafe right outside that's conveniently located. We originally reserved a small room but upon arrival realized that it was way too small and not what I was expecting... so we paid to upgrade to a suite and that was much more roomy and better. I have mixed feelings about this place... for the money it's a great deal! I would give it like a 3.5! Not a full 4.

Yelp
Great hotel with fantastic service, delicious breakfast, outstanding, outstanding location, and extremely clean rooms with a very spacious and hip feel. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone without a doubt. We stayed in the adjacent building directly next door and commented upon how every time we came in and out it was like we were going into our own little private flat from street side. Outstanding hotel in a city with a million options, and the neighborhood was perfect... Surrounded by great restaurants, a cool hipster feel, not too loud, not too quiet, and super central to everywhere you want to be going while in the city. Room Tip: The adjacent building is awesome. Don't be put off if you find yourself in the building "next door." We were in Room D2 and it was perfect.

Yelp
What a delightful stay at this charming hotel! With a fresh renovation, this hotel is a gem. Recently renovated, comfortable bed that eased any soar muscles from the day, hair dryer that works very well and a breakfast that started the day off on the right foot. The location is outstanding, walking distance from amazing restaurants and bars!!! Staff was always friendly and willing to assist with any needs. There is also an elevator option so you can easily get luggage up to room. It's also worth noting that due to local outdoor dining it can get a little loud, this fantastic hotel put in two double pained windows (that easily open for fresh air) so you can not hear anything at all in the room.

Yelp
PLEASE READ MY REVIEW.... I stayed 3 days in another hotel in Rome, then I left to Venice, when I came back there was no more availability, so I booked my stay at Duca D'alba, which I wish I didn't. I wished I read some of these reviews before I booked this hotel. Apparently there are 2 buildings, and not sure why but they gave me a room that there was nothing like the ones in the picture. It was on a separated building, which was old. Please believe me, the bed was hard/old/bad, I had backache next day. The shower was located in the bedroom, which I never saw before, it was so small that my husband could not be comfortable in there, even me 5'3" was hard to shower without hitting the wall, but the worst part wasn't the fact that was in the bedroom or super small, but the water would get cold in the middle of the shower. It completely ruined our vacation. We just came back from there (December-cold) and take a shower with cold water isn't pleasant. I will be fair and give 2 stars because there were couple positives facts, such as location (walk distance to Colosseum and other places) and it was clean. However, the first hotel I stayed was wonderful, and this qualify as 2 star hotel in my opinion. Good luck in your vacation, Rome is wonderful and hope you have a great time.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had plans to stay at this hotel on March 21st through March 24th. Unfortunately we had to cancel due to the Coronavirus. Actually we didn't even choose to cancel, the airlines chose for us and cancelled our flights to Rome. I asked for a refund of our stay because this situation is out of our control and really affecting the entire world. Italy is one of the main areas of concern where they had to shut down their schools for a few weeks. The hotel refused to refund us anything and are charging us the full amount of $384.70 for our nights we would have stayed at their hotel. I am disgusted with this act of greed. The need to cancel is out of our control and they do not care. ALL other reservations for hotels and tours that we had booked fully refunded us with the understanding that this is not on us. I have been to Rome 3 times and love the city. I plan to go back as soon as the travel ban is lifted, but now I will never stay at this hotel. They have lost a future customer in addition to all of my friends that travel to Rome. This service is unbelievable and when you are one of the places where the virus is strongest you should consider being more accommodating to people. Do NOT stay here!

Yelp
Amazing hospitality! This hotel is located in the heart of the action. Close by major sites and walking distance to tons of great restaurants & cafes. The people at the front desk are super nice and very helpful. The rooms are small but this is typical for rome, most importantly they are clean and well air conditioned. I highly recommend this place if your in rome.

Yelp
I was excited to stay here after reading a majority of positive reviews. We stayed in the D4 "jr suite". I didn't feel at first as though it was a junior suite, but considering we are in Europe, lots of hotel rooms are on the smaller side and not so much on the fancy side. (That was Ok for us) being that we had already been at some really nice luxury hotels before checking into what we thought to be "charming boutique hotel". After a long day of sight seeing we came back to our room to find our room door completely OPEN! Housekeeping apparently forgot to close the door after they cleaned the room. Not even sure who does this? Or how this would happen? I'm pretty sure everyone has a habit of closing their doors to their homes when they leave for the day. When I reported this to the front desk, we were responded with "I'm sorry" and nothing more. When asking who the Mgr was the reception front desk staff starting talking amongst each other in Italian which I was able to comprehend. They basically were saying that they weren't sure if they should give me the managers name. After a ton of fuss, I was able to obtain Mr Biancos contact information which wasn't at all soothing or comforting either. Filed a "report" with the front desk and left a letter with the desk to provide to the manager stating our issues and concern. Bottom line, I didn't pay for a hostel, but that's what I ended up getting. I'll be sure to contact American Express to report this issue further. To those who want to stay here for the location, look into other places. Location is great, but not worth the risk if you stay here at a place where safety and security may be of concern.

Yelp
We wanted to thank each and every one of the staff for a wonderful, friendly and informative stay. Only neg. was stylish, but very small room, but we'll just ask for a larger one next time!

Yelp
I can not speak highly enough about this hotel and their unbelievably wonderful staff! Angelo, Elisa, Tatiana, Christian & Romeo, among several others made us feel right at home and always greeted us with a warm smile. The location is fantastic, right down the street from the Colloseum/ Roman Forum area. Several eateries/restaurants located close by on the street. There are is also a Metro Station located down they street so it is very easy to get around. We as well stayed in room D2 located in the annex building and we LOVED it! The breakfast in the morning was delicious. Every morning we had a choice of fresh fruit, meat & cheese tray, scrambled eggs and bacon, various pastries and breads. We would highly recommend this hotel to any of our friends and family and we would defintely stay here again.

Yelp
Great location for this hotel. Gorgeous both in and outside. Very up beat and earthy. Colosseum is within walking distance and you can just about wall to any of the many wonderful historical sights. Just make sure your up for the challenge. Several wonderful restaurants and bars are located around the hotel which pretty much leaves you to your likings. There free breakfast is wicked amazing. My only complaint I have is the wifi in the room, I wasn't able to connect to it with my mini iPad but was able to connect pretty fast with my iPhone. Over all I would highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Cute hotel in a fabulous location. The hotel rooms were clean and ours came with a terrace. The breakfast was good. The front desk was a great help giving us directions and awesome restaurant recommendations. The Irish pub across the street will put on American football if you ask. Overall a nice place to stay.

Yelp
Our hotel stay was fine. The location was great. The hotel staff were always very kind and courteous. The biggest issue was that our initial room did not reflect whatsoever the rooms that were pictured on Travelocity when we initially booked. The rooms on the website were quite modern, however the room that we was initially given was dark and very dated. We informed the front desk about this and they responded very kindly and provided us another room which was a lot better, but still not what was pictured when we first booked. The complimentary hotel breakfast was good. When we called to ask for extra towels they said that it would be an extra charge, which was annoying. Although everything was fine at the end, my wife and I probably wouldn't stay here again, at least not in the dated rooms that we were given.
