Stayed one night in Room 12 with a partial view of the Adriatic. This is the 4 star building of the 5 star Grand Duchy d’Aosta right next door. Since you check in and use the Grand Duchy Concierge, it is a 5 star experience. Elevator servicing all floors. Small, but luxerious rooms, towels, sheets, beds. Quite with double windows. Cannot hear a sound from busy traffic below. Safe and well lit area also.|You are steps from Harry’s Bar, Bistro and Michelin star restaurant. Right on the PiazzaUnita d’Italia with the grand Hapsburg palaces lining both sides. Great shopping, restaurants, cafes within steps and most on pedestrian fondly streets.|If you are arriving or departing by ferry, the terminal is a flat 300 metres away. If by taxi, he will drop you on your front step|Highly |Recommend.

Good location of the hotel. |If you want to have a sea view from your room, then you should consider another hotel. View from most of the windows are directed to an ally and neighbor building. You might be able to see what other people have for dinner :)||The room was cleaned every day - good pillows and medium soft bed. Have not tested the AC - since I like to sleep with window open.||It was a free minibar in the room - with soft drinks included (at least what we have been told at arrival).||Hotel does not have a reception, it shares the reception with Grand Hotel, just on the other side of the road - approx 20 meters of walking distance. ||The hotel does not have its own restaurant (since it is boutique - obviously) - so you can have the breakfast at Grand Hotel. Very expensive - €25 for a rather small selection and unfortunately, if you want to have anything besides, such as scrambled eggs - you will need to pay additional €7 for a tiny portion.

We stayed in the annex part of the Hotel Duchi d'Aosta and it was perfect for what we needed. It is located very close to the waterfront and the beautiful Piazza Unita d'Italia. From here, you can walk to local attractions, the many bars and restaurants nearby, and can easily get a bus up the coast, or a ferry over to Muggia. ||||The room itself was great. A very comfortable firm bed, and a space to hang clothes. We also had a sofa to relax on, and could see the sea from our window, which was lovely. ||||The bathroom was well appointed (though the fixed showerhead was a little too low for my 6 foot 2 partner). I really liked the storage drawer, as we could unpack all of our toiletries into it, but they didn't take up all the surfaces in the room (like most other hotels). ||||Breakfast was pretty good (served in Harry's Bistro) in the main hotel. The breakfast staff were chirpy and welcoming and there was a wide range of food on offer.

We arrived in Trieste from travelling to Venice from London Heathrow.|Upon arrival you have to check into the grand hotel greeted by a very lovely young lady, extremely elegant and polite. Was given our key to room 3, young lad took us over the road to the Vis a Vis swipe your room key just over the control panel, as door is locked at night, otherwise during the day the doors just open automatically.|We got into our room and it was painted a really dark grey paint, a little depressing as we had no lookout just a wall, it’s down a sidewalk.|Weird wardrobe with no doors and if you have long dresses you have to hang them where the coffee machine is along with the safe, and two drawers.|Downside if you have long hair then take your own hairdryer as the basic one is plugged into the bathroom wall, coming from England I still find this so uncomfortable with electric and water!!!|Also another drawback there’s no mirror to sit at a dressing table to do your makeup, also hard to do makeup with the dark room or a long mirror to see how your dressed.||Jacuzzi bath didn’t work also only a 3/4 size bath, shower is badly designed as it’s tucked into the corner of the shower screen so you can’t actually stand under it!!! |Also sink plug doesn’t work so for my partner to shave you just had to run the tap waste off water.|The toilet water was very severe so when you flushed it the water came over the front of the loo.|Also glass sliding panel so you can see everything from the bed. Not great if your with a friend or new partner to see you sitting on the loo 🤣||When we returned later that night omg the room was lit up as no blind in bathroom had the brackets up but nothing at the window, so bedroom was bright as the alleyway was now alight with the bar and street lights, then once your in bed the control panel was a blaze of green light. |I reported all the faults the next morning, she typed it onto the computer and offered to move us to room 4 but what’s the point as it’s a replica room only difference would be that the jacuzzi bath worked but you had to be about 4ft tall to use it.||We didn’t book breakfast and glad we didn’t as room wasn’t very inviting and why would you with so many fantastic cafes and bars to eat and drink at, not expensive to eat and drink in Trieste.||So to summarise my findings great location for the centre of Trieste and only 10 mins walk from train station.|Trieste is stunning.||Hotel expensive for room size and fittings.

Hotel is in an amazing location and staff are very nice but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. We went to check into hotel and were taken to the Grand Hotel across the street and then trek across the street to the Vis a Vis. We get into small glass elevator with our luggage only to get stuck twice- went up without luggage second time and door would not open. Staff come to our assistance saying we are over weight. We are average weight but I did pack a lot but honestly even the old elevators in Rome handled it so not sure why a modern elevator had issues. Get to our room and the bathroom is open to the room. There was supposed to be a glass sliding door but it has been removed. Small fridge in room does not work and room smells of smoke!!! Ugh!!!! It’s for one night and we are tired so we both settle in for the night! Well a big red sign is glowing outside of our window….think of the Seinfeld Kenny Roasters episode and you get the picture! Breakfast not included but costs 29 Euros Italian style or 39 Euros for American style.

Duchi Vis a Vis features modern rooms, some of them small and bordered by a rather dark side street. Several rooms are larger and brighter. Our bright room was equipped with an Illy coffee machine, which on request was supplied with more than 2 coffee capsules per day. The rich breakfast in the Grand Hotel Duchi d'Aosta opposite was served in the classic breakfast room and on the terrace overlooking Piazza Unità. The service of the attentive waiter Tommy was exemplary. A highly recommended hotel which is worth the price.

We stayed one night at the VisaVis before boarding our cruise ship. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the terminal and a block from the ocean. The rooms are very clean, a bit small but very comfortable. Also close to many restaurants and shopping. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Absolutely zero street noise or from neighboring rooms. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed 4 nights at the end of October. The hotel (Vis a Vis) was very comfortable - the room was well appointed and a reasonable size. Staff experiences were all very positive - helpful and happy. Tommi at Harry’s for breakfast has a unique touch - outgoing and welcoming which meant everyday got off to a great start!
