This Hidden Gem in Northern Italy Is Called 'Little Rome'

"A true grand-dame hotel with origins as a 14th-century inn that rose to prominence in the 1800s; furnished with period antiques and works of art, it has a strong historical pedigree (notably favored by Maria Callas) and a popular rooftop restaurant in summer known for grilled fish and meat." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. How this hotel is considered 5 star is beyond me. It is average at best. Check in process was fine, and then you’ll see a large atrium lobby which is potentially elegant but they have done nothing with the space since it opened probably. It has a small uninviting bar in a huge room where you have no desire to have a drink. The rooms are small, which is fine but they are in desperate need of a renovation. The sheets are rough, coarse, and stiff. And after a restless nights sleep because of this, to find the absence of a coffee machine in the room in 2025 is really disappointing. The gym is PATHETIC. At best, it’s a room with some broken equipment and it’s depressing. If I was the owner of this hotel, I’d say that gym is an embarrassment. Here are the positives: the rooftop restaurant is gorgeous and worth spending time there, the breakfast buffet was good and the staff is warm and accommodating. Maybe there are limited hotel choices in Verona but despite this the hotel needs to step into 2025.

Firstly, I must say all staff were very professional and attentive. When booking our holiday to Verona my wife and I, we are now in our late seventies, decided to “push the boat out” and stay in a 5 star hotel as it would be 20 years to the week when we had first visited Verona.|The Due Torri Hotel appeared to meet our expectations. It was near the centre and the rooms looked very nice. We decided to pay extra for the Grand Deluxe Room as it had a sitting area outside the room as depicted in the photograph. |However, when we booked into our room it was nothing like the one advertised on their web site. There was no outside balcony; the room did overlook a blank courtyard, so anytime you looked out the window all you saw was the room windows opposite you. When I mentioned this to reception I was told not all the rooms have balcony. I said the room photograph shows a balcony, the room description does not say, not all rooms have balconies. No response. |There was no photograph of the en suite bathroom, I can understand why. The shower doors would not close and the sink plug refused to hold water! To be fair, they kind of sorted the shower doors.|Having looked forward to this holiday for some time, our hotel room was very disappointing.

This is a good little hotel with some great staff. Very friendly and helpful. The rooms are good if not in need of a little upgrade, though definitely fit for purpose. Location is unbeatable. Gym is ok. Breakfast could possibly improve a little, maybe offer egg dishes inclusive of the rate. Roof terrace is lovely.

A fantastic five star experience. The hotel is in a fantastic building on a square that just exudes Italian elegance and is wonderful ||The door top dining as the sun goes down is an experience In itself as is the rooftop bar||Second time stay and it’s as good this time as it was the last.||If you can, stay there

This hotel has a good location in the old city but is really let down by poor maintenance and the attitude of some of the staff. Our room had obviously not been redecorated for many years, with chips and scuffs on the walls and woodwork. Some staff were helpful and pleasant, but the ones on the roof terrace at lunchtime were not just inefficient but plain nasty. My partner and I spent around 2 hours there. We only had one drink each because the bar staff ignored us for a while and then disappeared completely. When we wanted to pay and leave, we waited for ages and eventually managed to get the barman, Vincezo, to return to his duties, accompanied by a manager. He was furious and said some extremely rude things about us in Italian (including a grossly offensive word which I shall not repeat), before throwing the bill down on the bar and criticising us for only ordering one drink each in two hours (the chance would have been a fine thing!). Unbeknown to him, my partner speaks fluent italian and understood every word he said. When she pointed this out, he was visibly shocked and made implausible excuses for his behaviour. We then left, never to return.

I had the absolutely best stay here! I had changed hotels due to a minor disaster and booked last minute. I had a great huge room (with a bath and shower) and breakfast was included - which was delicious. The service was immaculate and I felt extremely looked after by everyone. I really loved the turn down service every night, it felt so luxurious! Really enjoyed using the gym every day and taking advantage of the private spa when I had a moment. Granted this was coming off the back of an unpleasant hotel experience but I had such a good time, I wrote thank you notes 🤣 Planning on returning next year for a holiday instead of a work trip.

Our two-night stay at the Due Torri Hotel in Verona was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the hotel’s wonderful location—right in the heart of the city, surrounded by history, charm, and the unmistakable romantic ambiance of Verona. Housed in a historical building, the hotel’s architecture and carefully preserved details seamlessly blend with the city’s enchanting atmosphere. Every corner exudes elegance, making it the perfect place to immerse yourself in Verona’s beauty. Communication with the hotel staff prior to our arrival was impeccable, especially regarding valet parking. They responded immediately to all our inquiries, ensuring a seamless experience upon arrival. The valet welcomed us warmly, took care of our car right away, and directed the bellboy to handle our luggage—we didn’t have to lift a finger! Check-in was a breeze—quick, smooth, and effortless, allowing us to start enjoying our stay without delay. Our room was absolutely stunning—spacious, luxurious, and offering one of the most breathtaking views of the square, where the beautiful basilica stands. The high-end sheets, plush bathrobe, and slippers made the experience feel even more indulgent, and the exquisite toiletries added a lovely touch. The bathroom, with its antique brass finishings, was equally impressive, and the strong water pressure made for a great shower experience. Breakfast was another highlight. The exquisite spread featured a variety of fresh, high-quality options, and the service was outstanding—attentive to every detail. The coffee was particularly delicious, and the champagne station allowed us to start the morning with a delightful mimosa. Finally, check-out was fast and hassle-free, wrapping up our stay on a perfect note. I genuinely have no complaints about this hotel—only the regret that we couldn’t stay longer! If you’re ever in Verona, Due Torri Hotel is an absolute must. You won’t regret it!

Yelp
Excellent 4 night stay in charming Verona. The Due Torri is perfectly situated in the best part of town in close proximity to all the sites you will want to see. Very helpful and courteous front desk. As a member of Leading Hotels of the World I received a complimentary upgrade at check in. Very nicely appointed room with a nice walk in rain shower. Excellent breakfast buffet and gorgeous rooftop restaurant / bar. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
Great location, even better staff and our room was superb! I love the authenticity of this hotel and the quality of the furnishings. It's beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable - and, I slept like a baby! I don't know if the town is lively at night as we did not hear a peep from the large church square just outside our window, where people gathered with friends on a Friday night, nor did we hear anyone walking down the halls at night - must be very thick glass and doors! They also have a fabulous rooftop terrace that sits just above the red tiles of the town below. Wonderful views and the food and drinks are nice too! We shared a club sandwich which was a perfect light lunch.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel with a very helpful staff. Room was pleasant and had a very historic vibe. Loved the location, which is close to everything. Truly appreciated the staff assisting me with lost luggage and arranging transportation to a variety of locations. When I return to Verona (most certainly will!), I will be staying here!

Yelp
Beautiful Baglioni hotel, a short stroll away from the shops and the Arena. Fabulous architecture and decor, I think one of the top hotels in the city - and where a lot of celebs stay. Some of the rooms are a bit on the small side - which is why I only gave it 4 stars. But if you like antiques, this is the place to stay.

Yelp
I love this hotel. The rooms take you back to days of elegance. I can't wait to stay here again. Thank you for a beautiful stay!
