This Hidden Gem in Northern Italy Is Called 'Little Rome'

"A true grand-dame hotel with origins as a 14th-century inn that rose to prominence in the 1800s; furnished with period antiques and works of art, it has a strong historical pedigree (notably favored by Maria Callas) and a popular rooftop restaurant in summer known for grilled fish and meat." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. Our four night stay at the DueTorri Hotel in Verona was wonderful! The hotel lobby and bar was elegant and refined. But what makes this hotel a stand-out was the friendly, helpful people who work there! The front desk staff desk made fabulous dinner and activity suggestions, arranging reservations, and even made sure we had coffee and breakfast before our 4:30 am airport departure! Breakfast was extensive and delicious, and servers top notch. Our room was small, but adequate. Location was very handy to area museums, the Giusti Garden, several beautiful churches, the Duomo, and excellent restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay here again!!

This is a really classy hotel fantastically well placed in the centre of Verona . Juliets House , the Arena etc all in 10/15 mins walk. Elegant old style . Very nice but quiet restaurant . Two great bars one downstairs very nice and a lovely one on the roof with stupendous views. Great cocktails at reasonable prices and light lunch or bar snacks. The delightful Fransisco and Paulo two old style bar stewards run them and make you feel you are Burton and Taylor.|Nice bedrooms and bathrooms and really impressive public rooms. Front of house staff very helpful and cleaning staff excellent. A great place for a very happy few days break.

The hotel is beautifully situated. Service was fine. The breakfast offering had a large variety from which to choose, The room was clean and well appointed and had a lovely balcony overlooking the rooftops of Verona. The hotel also has a very nice rooftop terrace/restaurant, which is a great place to have an aperitvo while the sun sets. Overall a very nice experience.

The hotel is centrally located to shopping and historical sites. It is beautiful. The service at breakfast was excellent, as well as the front desk staff. We have Room 222. The room is a decent size but lacking in ambiance. TV is small, and the furniture and decor looks like they didn’t think about ambiance or placement. Bathroom is nice but awkward with the tub/shower with glass panel. It is a pretty bathroom but there is mold in the shower grout and mold on the wall above the toilet. They gave us three large towels, which is great. The bedroom is nice and dark at night and there aren’t any electronics in the room that give off light, which is perfect. The bed and pillows are comfortable.

We spent two nights at Due Torri at the end of August and had a very enjoyable stay. Check-in was smooth and welcoming; although our room wasn’t ready upon arrival, the staff kindly offered a complimentary drink, which was a thoughtful gesture.||||The room itself was on the smaller side but very charming, with a beautiful bathroom. Turndown service was excellent and added a touch of classic luxury, which we liked a lot. ||||The spa is small but nice, featuring both a sauna and a steam bath. Breakfast was generous and of high quality, providing a very good start to the day.||||A couple of areas could be improved: there’s no in-room coffee machine and the gym was also a bit disappointing, offering only two treadmills and one bike, with no weights at all.||||However the general vibe of the hotel is great. Perfect location and excellent service!

How this hotel is considered 5 star is beyond me. It is average at best. Check in process was fine, and then you’ll see a large atrium lobby which is potentially elegant but they have done nothing with the space since it opened probably. It has a small uninviting bar in a huge room where you have no desire to have a drink. The rooms are small, which is fine but they are in desperate need of a renovation. The sheets are rough, coarse, and stiff. And after a restless nights sleep because of this, to find the absence of a coffee machine in the room in 2025 is really disappointing. The gym is PATHETIC. At best, it’s a room with some broken equipment and it’s depressing. If I was the owner of this hotel, I’d say that gym is an embarrassment. Here are the positives: the rooftop restaurant is gorgeous and worth spending time there, the breakfast buffet was good and the staff is warm and accommodating. Maybe there are limited hotel choices in Verona but despite this the hotel needs to step into 2025.

This is a good little hotel with some great staff. Very friendly and helpful. The rooms are good if not in need of a little upgrade, though definitely fit for purpose. Location is unbeatable. Gym is ok. Breakfast could possibly improve a little, maybe offer egg dishes inclusive of the rate. Roof terrace is lovely.

Yelp
Excellent 4 night stay in charming Verona. The Due Torri is perfectly situated in the best part of town in close proximity to all the sites you will want to see. Very helpful and courteous front desk. As a member of Leading Hotels of the World I received a complimentary upgrade at check in. Very nicely appointed room with a nice walk in rain shower. Excellent breakfast buffet and gorgeous rooftop restaurant / bar. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
Great location, even better staff and our room was superb! I love the authenticity of this hotel and the quality of the furnishings. It's beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable - and, I slept like a baby! I don't know if the town is lively at night as we did not hear a peep from the large church square just outside our window, where people gathered with friends on a Friday night, nor did we hear anyone walking down the halls at night - must be very thick glass and doors! They also have a fabulous rooftop terrace that sits just above the red tiles of the town below. Wonderful views and the food and drinks are nice too! We shared a club sandwich which was a perfect light lunch.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel with a very helpful staff. Room was pleasant and had a very historic vibe. Loved the location, which is close to everything. Truly appreciated the staff assisting me with lost luggage and arranging transportation to a variety of locations. When I return to Verona (most certainly will!), I will be staying here!

Yelp
Beautiful Baglioni hotel, a short stroll away from the shops and the Arena. Fabulous architecture and decor, I think one of the top hotels in the city - and where a lot of celebs stay. Some of the rooms are a bit on the small side - which is why I only gave it 4 stars. But if you like antiques, this is the place to stay.

Yelp
I love this hotel. The rooms take you back to days of elegance. I can't wait to stay here again. Thank you for a beautiful stay!
