We booked for one night on the way home to sample the fabulous oysters and fruit de met. It's a superb location with ample parking just in front of the hotel. The room was clean and well appointed with a fabulous view of the sea. The coffee in the morning was one of the best we've had and the continental breakfast fresh and more than adequate. This is a typical quaint little French gem. We would highly recommend a stay.

We know Cancale pretty well having stayed there a handful of times (each time in a different hotel), and this time was just an overnight stop on our way back to Paris from the far South West of Brittany. I booked this hotel simply because on Booking.com it appeared to be the only one with space (late booking, mid August, not very surprising!) and I didn't have much time for lots of other searching, so figured that for one night it would be fine whatever! It was a lot more than just "fine" and we didn't even have a full sea-view room :-) although we arrived a little after 7pm, the hotelier had called us earlier to find out what our anticipated arrival time would be and he sent me all details and door code via SMS. We arrived fine, unloaded and got in to our room - very pleasant room (no. 12). Our room had a king size bed, a single bed and a kind of separate room with bunk beds also. 2 loos (one adjoined to bathroom). We had a side view of the sea. The room was very clean and clearly individually decorated with interesting little features (huge china vases on the floor) which made it very attractive. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi bath - though we didn't use it. We didn't have breakfast as we weren't sure of timing etc - we have also previously had breakfast in other places on the harbourside before, although be warned, it's not that easy. Café Julian does a sort of breakfast, and there is a sandwich place (which is probably best) which is unpretentious and does toasted sandwiches and coffee (though have forgotten what it's called). It's not as easy to find breakfast as one would imagine given the number of eateries there. Parking is always a hassle in Cancale because of the central carpark system, however, I would urge you to hang around a bit as the movement is also very high - people in and out the whole time, so you don't have to wait long usually to get a space if they are all "full". I agree with other reviewers that the hotel is expensive - our room was 150 euros for the night which even in August, given the fairly basic nature of the establishment, is high enough. Cancale is super, this hotel is fine as long as you don't mind being somewhere that is not staffed evenings / overnight.

We spent 2 nights at this very comfortable small hotel. Our room faced front and the water. Plenty of parking. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We could walk all over town and along a cliff trail overlooking the oyster farms. Sampling the many oysters at all the restaurants, and at booths near the pier was heavenly. A suggestion would be to serve coffee in the morning. The hotel offered a 'continental breakfast' which was over priced and a bit too formal. And there was no a la carte offered. Just a cup of coffee would have been great!!

We stayed here one night on a French trip and it was really great, the generous room overlooking the sea was beautifully decorated and everything was top class, nice owners too. Parking an issue due to festival, but normally not so bad. 100€ per night, very reasonable in this popular town. Definitely return.

We booked this as a bit of a panic step after we worked out that we couldn't comfortably make the journey from our camping site near La Rochelle, all the way to St Malo ferry port in the time we had available on the day, so we stopped here overnight. It's about 20 mins from St Malo. We booked it based on not much info as there didn't seem to be a whole lot of choice near St Malo.||||When we drove into Cancale we were blown away. It's a beautiful fishing village all set on the harbourside. It's pretty much wall to wall fish restaurants all the way along, plus a few clothes shops. It had a lovely buzzy feel to it, and it was busy late into the evening.||||The room we had had a large double bed and two pull down singles, plus there was room for our travel cot too. There was a toilet and a separate bathroom with a bath which appeared to have a whirlpool sort of thing, not that we tried it. There was a TV and DVD too. It was really nicely decorated and very individual. There were motorised blackout blinds on the windows, and the double bed seem to have motorised sections at the head-end so you could presumably sit up in bed and admire the view in the morning. Again, we didn't try these, but I'm guessing it would've been spectacular. ||||To call Hotel Duguay-Trouin a hotel is a little over the top in my view as the booking I made was pretty clear that if you arrived after 7 PM you'd be regarded as a no-show, and you need a door code to get in and out in the evening, but that worked absolutely fine. It's un-manned overnight seemingly. It seemed more like a bunch of nice rooms in a large house with breakfast if you wanted it. This shouldn't detract from what is a lovely place, but hopefully you get a sense of the (small) scale of this hotel. ||||The breakfast was basic for 10 Euros. Croissant, baguette, yogurt, orange juice and tea or coffee. I'm fairly sure you could do better on the harbourside somewhere. ||||I'd agree with the comment that it is expensive, as after adding three breakfasts our bill was over 200 Euro for a family room. It was a little warm in the room, and although you can open the windows, you'd then get street noise late into the night, but this wasn't excessive at all.||||Overall I'd say for a couple this would be fantastic. We had a small baby and an 8 year old as well as us. We struggled a little to find food simple enough as our boy certainly isn't in the market for peeling prawns! For seafood lovers though this seemed like heaven. There are a few more basic places, but the quality didn't seem great at those.||||Parking is a bit of a nightmare. There are a bunch of different public car parks but they all seemed perpetually full. Even at 7am they were 80% full and there was no one around. So long as you're happy to hover and nip in when there is a space you'll be fine.||||If you want a stop-off near St Malo, and certainly if you're a fish lover I think you'd be pretty happy with this place.

The hotel is situated on the main seaside road with cheap open public parking, in front of it. We||got an ocean view room on the 1st floor [no elevator]. It was well sized and interestingly, tastily decorated. There was a personal and a very "cultural touch". Separate wc+shower. All comfortable and well equipped. 110 eu without breakfast for a double in mid October was expensive. 70-80 would sound better.

Nice hotel, but very expensive "petit-déjeuner", 10 Euro/person. You get a 1/2 glass of juice 1/4 of a baguette and one Croissant and some coffe or chcolat.. Hotel does not have a private parking, so You have to park on the street or at seaside

Small charming hotel with all amenities and comfort, buble bath and fantastic view on the seashore. The landlord is cheerful and the hotel can welcome disables people in a very cosy suite on the ground floor.
