Stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was excellent. Very friendly staff at check in, beautiful bedroom. We ate in the hotel one night and it was excellent food - was only a set 3 course menu on offer but every course was delicious. Extremely attentive staff at dinner especially the head member of staff.|beautiful grounds|location was excellent for visiting Bruges|Would definitely go back.|Only thing I would suggest is a proper hairdryer rather than the one in the bathroom... but other that that 5 stars all round

This hotel offers everything you could possibly need for a city break. The location is in the centre of the town. The room was very comfortable and well-equipped. Espresso machine and a kettle was provided. All the staff were simply delightful, from reception, to the bar to the restaurant. The communal areas are beautifully decorated. I particularly liked all the artwork. The food in the restaurant was also 5*. Honestly, it was a breath of fresh air to stay somewhere where the service was both professional and genuine.

Stunning hotel!!! We recently stayed three nights at The Duke’s Palace. Our room was spacious, well appointed and looked out over the backyard, which provided us with a stunning view. The staff were friendly and helpful and always ready to provide suggestions on places to visit while in Brugge. Brugge is an exceptional city and we’re so glad we stayed 3 nights so we could leisurely explore all there is to see. Even thought it’s quite pricey, it was well worth the expense. We felt like Royalty!!

This was our 4th visit to the Dukes Palace and as always we were not disappointed.||The hotel is stunning inside and out, you won't find a more beautiful location. The staff are amazing, we were thoroughly looked after and upgraded to a delightful Superior Garden View Room.||Location is unbeatable, we were able to drop shopping back with ease or enjoy a drink in the hotel gardens without more than a 15 minute walk from any part of the city.||The breakfast is unbelievable, every food you could possibly want and all at the highest quality.||We hope there are many more trips to enjoy at the best hotel in Brugge, possibly the best in Belgium!

Pretty average, considering it’s a 5 star hotel. The communal areas are beautiful and well maintained but the rooms are a little weathered and dusty. After checking in on the hottest day of the year, we had to ask for room service every evening - just fresh towels and clean water, as opposed to a full clean. Not what you expect for €170 a night… The staff are very lovely and helpful. Plus, the tapas was amazing. Just the rooms and the cleaning of rooms is poor. Fingers along the TV showed it’s not been cleaned in a while!

Really enjoyed my stay in this hotel from the moment I entered. Great breakfast with lots of options, and amazing afternoon tea in the garden. The AC was cold as well, especially on sunny days. Even though we stayed in the original building which is a bit more "old-fashioned" it still felt modern and clean. The housekeeping was super fast as well.

We had three nights in the hotel in a spacious room overlooking the garden. The staff couldn't be more helpful. We didn't have breakfast, lunch or dinner as there are so many places to eat locally but did have a cold beer at the bar, the service was excellent. Lovely hotel in a perfect location for exploring this city with everything in walking distance.

Google
Lovely hotel in a perfect location for exploring this city with everything in walking distance. It has an old world charm to the hotel (but everything worked as it should!). Easy and secure car parking also. Our room was charming and big - more than enough space for big suitcases to be opened out. And who doesn't love a breakfast bar with blocks of chocolate and champagne!

Yelp
Beautiful, castle like hotel. Great staff and an excellent room! Tons of food and shopping nearby! Highly recommend! Thanks Duke!

Yelp
Very nice property. The lobby is elegant. There is a very nice restaurant and bar adjoining. There is even a small garden with some seating to create a very relaxing environment. Our room was well laid out and quite comfortable. The front desk staff were helpful and efficient. The location within the town is ok. The driveway to the hotel front empties onto a commercial street of no exceptional appeal but there are plenty of stores for shopping. Good restaurants and bars are not too far away.

Yelp
I love it when old towns make use of historic buildings for the modern life. This converted palace is now a boutique hotel. It's the most beautiful in town. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming. All spoke multiple languages. I always find it fascinating to watch them flip from one to another effortlessly. They offered recommendations for dining and places of interest, when asked. Realistically, the town is pretty small and you can cover all of it in not time at all. The room was classy and offered what you would generally expect from a nice hotel. Things were fresh and clean. I appreciated the comfy chairs after a whole day of walking. Breakfast in the morning was fairly well done. There was a large variety of hot and cold foods, fruits, yogurt, bread, cheeses, juices--an excellent spread. We found plenty to discover around the hotel just by walking around. There was an old elevator, artwork, a nicely manicured garden. I definitely recommend staying here.

Yelp
While I loved my overnight at Duke's Palace, it wasn't a completely perfect experience. Parking: The hotel does have underground parking. My tip is to check-in first, the bell boy will help you with your bags. The parking lot entrance is on the back-side of the hotel. Parking is 29 Euros a night, but finding street parking is really difficult. Checking in was really easy. The customer service is on point here. Everyone working their was really on the ball and attentive. The hotel has a ton of sitting areas both inside and outdoors. I loved the outdoor area because due to the breeze it catches. Plus it's just a great place to relax after a day of waffle and chocolate eating. The spa and gym close at 9pm so we didn't get to use either. The room was beautiful and each feature (I believe) their own large chandelier. The beds were really comfortable and I love the fact that you could open the windows all the way to get some fresh air and cool off our room which was kind of hot when we first got inside. I loved the bathroom which had both a tub and a shower and had higher end toiletries. The downside of the hotel is the odd smell that emanates throughout the inside of the hotel, but fortunately not inside the rooms. The hotel has this tiny little elevator, which makes sense due to the age of the building, but best believe I stayed taking the steps. Perhaps the biggest letdown was the brunch that was around 30 something Euros per person. This brunch I read so much about; how good it was and how it was not missed, but really I don't know if maybe we came on a bad day or just missed something because memorable, it wasn't. Cold, pretty tough waffles. Actually, everything was pretty cold. For the price, it would be nice to get hot eggs, not lukewarm. So I spent 30 euros to eat cereal, no bueno. Overall the hotel was beautiful, a few bumps along the way, but we still enjoyed our night here.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, friendly and accommodating staff, excellent food quality and presentation at the hotel restaurant, super clean, extensive breakfast, centrally located! One of the best hotels I've stayed at.

Yelp
This is a historic and beautiful hotel which is the best in the area. I will point out one major flaw, probably the get only flaw, but it is important especially if you visit in the Summer. The air conditioning is very weak and barely cools. The room A/C doesn't really provide comfort but rather a minimal acceptable temperature. For the price I am paying, I would expect the A/C to perform at an acceptably cool level. It really surprised, shocked and saddened me that a hotel, purportedly five star, would not strive to accommodate the varied essential temperature comfort levels for all international travelers. I even contacted the front desk twice very courteously. The first time I was provided a large standing fan. The second time, in person at the front desk, I was told slightly curtly that the A/C is not cold like an American A/C. What? I would think they would provide all options for all travelers. Also, the hallway to the room incorporates an old church into the architecture - impossible to explain but awesome. The breakfast buffet is tremendous with all sorts of cold meats & cheeses, hot scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee. Beds & bedding: extremely comfortable, flawlessly clean. Bathroom: very good shower, tub, sink & toiletries. Numerous towels provided. Windows & shades : open easily, nice view. Noise level: quiet except some children above/next door; not a consistent distraction so fine. Other room amenities: Nespresso maker/pods/sugar/powder creamer/teas, 2 Evian, robes/slippers, numerous premium toiletries, small attached bed lights, sitting chairs/extra pillows .

Yelp
We had a great 1 night stay at Dukes' Palace and wish we could've stayed longer! The hotel was beautiful, the staff was friendly and the location was very central. Also enjoyed the outdoor garden and bar with the fire pit. Special thanks to Steven and his colleague for the help and recommendations!

Yelp
This is supposedly one of the nicest hotels in the city and it is a unique and pretty property. However, when you walk into the hotel, there is a funky smell I found bothersome. Staff was nice and helpful. Best part of this place was the breakfast, which I recommend getting if you stay here. The other issue for me was how dark the room was. Are they trying to evoke the original lighting from when this place was built a few hundred years ago? Dang. And the bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom, yet there was only one sink with limited space on the counter. WTF? They did have a magnified mirror, strong water pressure, L'Occitane products, nice closet space.

Yelp
What a gorgeous hotel! Stayed here for a few days in Bruges and everything is fantastic. The rooms and grounds are beautiful and the customer service is top notch! I couldn't recommend this hotel more!

Yelp
We really enjoyed this hotel, just really wish the bathroom had actually been clean considering they claim 5 star hotel and charge 5 star prices. It was pretty gross :/ We really liked everything else though.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Rooms are gorgeous and lovely. We had a suit, impressive huge room with (historical) hot tub. But that was more a bathtub than hot tub. Problem with that was to get to shower you would need to perform some acrobatic moves. Other than that room was fantastic. Frontdesk staff were nice but not very well trained. They kept promising us early checkin but never happened. Also they constantly asking for 15 Euros extra breakfast fee while sounded very cheap discussion when you paid 1000 Euros for two nights. Restaurant is so cozy and beautiful. Food is not the best though, burger's meat didn't taste good at all, and dressing tasted like soup. I recommend restaurant and bar only for drinks.

Yelp
A good and useful review is appropriately caveated. It's a five star-rated hotel, so I'll hold them to my five-star standards. The only reason this hotel doesn't get five stars from me is the pillow. This hotel did almost everything right; however to get five stars from me you have to do everything right, and that means pillows. Ultimately, (and over-simplified), the traveler is paying the hotel for a place to sleep, making the bed one of the most important elements of the experience. The mattress was wonderfully comfortable; soft but not too soft. Then you lay your head down and realize your neck is canted at a 45 degree angle. That's unpleasant. Maybe an adjustment? Nope. Let's try the other pillow. Same issue. I like flatter pillows but never had an issue adjusting to a hotel pillow, until now. Fat AND firm is a bad combination. Aside from that, the gentlemen who checked us in was very nice and helpful, with a good sense of humor. However, he had a very large stain right in the center of his hotel-issued sky blue tie. This is obviously very minor, and I don't hold it against him personally, but it was distracting. I noticed it, other people in my party noticed it. Accidents happen, and the hotel should have some spares on hand for that purpose. Breakfast the next morning was very nice, served in a gorgeously bright room with spotless floor-to-ceiling windows letting in a huge amount of natural light. There's a chocolate station where you can cut your own chocolate; this is Belgium, after all. It's a bit dangerous, though, and fun to watch people try to cut the huge blocks. Beware of chocolate explosions. Otherwise, it's your typical European breakfast fare of eggs, bacon, sausage, an extensive bread station, fruit, cheese, cold meats, etc. All set to an expertly curated classical music playlist playing softly in the background. Overall, this hotel is classically elegant in a tasteful, unobtrusive, and non-condescending way, offering a gorgeous and comfortable environment to enjoy. Unfortunately, the pillows will factor into whether we stay here on our next trip to Bruges, and that's too bad because I really love everything else about this hotel.

Yelp
Beautiful two day stay over the Easter weekend of 2015. Staff was welcoming and on top of their A-game. Room was one of the cottages and it was well worth the extra money. Breakfasts and meals were fantastic. I look forward to a return visit

Yelp
We spent a weekend in April in Brugge and had the opportunity to stay at the Kempinski. Having stayed at their properties in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, and Istanbul, I am familiar with their normal standard of service. Unfortunately this property does not measure up especially considering the price of over €500 per night. All in all it is a lovely hotel with pleasant personnel. However, I found the following issues. First, the Wi-Fi internet access was almost impossible to get. When trying to sign in with last name in room number as per instructions I received an error message. We then received a slip from the front desk with an alternate sign in. This did not work either since the log in page did not load correctly. After several stops at the front desk, on our second day, they finally found a work around and made the last name/room number method work. However, only one of us could be logged in at the same time. The staff was gracious enough not to charge us for this service. Outside hotel there appeared to be free citywide Wi-Fi available which apparently did not reach through the walls. I was also looking forward to spending time in the spa and wellness area. Here, too, I was disappointed. There was no receptionist at the counter and that area leading toward the massage rooms was cordoned off. The men's changing room was miniscule. The steam room had a sign "Sorry, out of order!" The dry sauna had 3 people already in it, strangely clothed. There was hardly any room for me. After a quick visit to the swimming pool area I decided to just return to our hotel room. At one fourth of the price I probably would have overlooked these "flaws" and given the place 5 stars. But is all relative.

Yelp
The rooms are nothing to write home about. The pillows are too thick and there are no top sheets. Ultra thin walls. Your key card controls all power so you can't charge anything while away... Unless you get two keys and leave one behind....can't believe I just thought of that NOW. The rest of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff is prompt and very nice. The location is excellent. It's a perfect stumble away from the market square and everything else. The free breakfast buffet is fantastic and totally redeems all other flaws. I would bring my own pillow and stay here again.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel! It's perfectly located in the heart of Bruges and the accommodations are wonderful. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, updated and clean. Really happy with our selection to stay here.

Yelp
Where to start? Most people have said it all. This is a absolutely fantastic hotel which i can't recommend enough. Everything is very well taken care of and the staff is always attentive and ready to help. Just as some other people had experienced the pillows that comes standard in the rooms are quite big and uncomfortable but i simply asked the reception and later that evening housekeeping had changed pillows in my room to much better ones. The breakfast buffet is good, although fairly standard if it weren't for the Belgian chocolate and sparkling wine table which added a nice touch.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. First of all, as the name suggests, it is an old renovated palace from hundreds of years ago. Walking into the courtyard is so picturesque, it feels like you are going to a tourist attraction. In fact there are typically a few tourists actually snapping photos of the hotel throughout the day. The interior has the perfect mix of old and new. The grand spiral staircase behind the reception feels like it is an original feature of the palace and very appropriate at that. There are also some original features of the palace such as a gorgeous old chapel. However the rooms are completely renovated and nice. The location was absolutely fantastic, less than a quarter mile from the main square. It is also tucked back a block from the main touristy street. The amenities were also fantastic. There is a pricey breakfast that is absolutely worth the 25 EUR pp. (the buffet selection is so grand that they squeeze their own raspberry juice!!) The wifi is speedy. The bath soaps and toiletries are all from L'Occidental (my wife says that's super swanky). There is a wonderful back courtyard and bar, as well as a great sitting area with newspapers and chessboards. They even have complementary umbrellas right next to the door for rainy days! Honestly it is probably one of my favorite hotels of all time. Highly recommended experience, it was definitely the highlight of my Bruges trip.

Yelp
Wow, great hotel in a great city. Great location, walking distance to all the attractions in Brugge including the tower featured in one of my favorite movies, In Bruges. Hotel seems like it was once a castle before being turned into luxury hotel. Room was very spacious and luxurious. Staff was incredibly professional and polite. Great hotel in a fascinating city. Definitely recommend booking. This place made this an almost perfect trip, could have only been bested if I ran into Jordan Prentice and Colin Farrel in the street.

Yelp
My review is not for a hotel visit. I booked a couple of massages here...you don't have to be a guest to do that. I loved it. The front desk staff and the massage therapists were excellent. I didn't know about this place until a friend that lives in Brugge mentioned it and she booked it for me. Very nice!!

Yelp
How come only one guest per room can get internet access and any extra person have to pay to get online with their own computer ( not mentioning that there is no iphone 4 support) when outside the hotel there is free internet city access ( no idea why the signal is blocked every time we went back to the hotel). The rest was OK, heard a lot of complains about the spa

Yelp
stayed one night, just last month. what a great hotel, wish we had stayed longer. clean rooms, nice bathroom, l'occitane products (they don't animal test- bonus!). great grounds, and staff is really nice and helpful. highly recommend staying here and shelling out the money. also great location.
