Hotel Duquesa de Cardona Barcelona

We enjoyed our stay at the Duquesa de Cordona hotel in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The location was excellent ( walking distance to La Rambla). Across from the yacht basin and just 2 miles from the port where we joined our cruise ship after our 4 day stay. |The room was clean, the bed & pillows comfortable, the black out curtains were perfect to keep the light out, and also enjoyed that there was a window we could open to let in fresh air. The front desk staff was very helpful as well.|The area was very safe and well lit, which was important for our evening stroll’s. Plenty of delicious dining options within walking distance. |Having read about the wonderful breakfast served daily, we were both quite surprised that there was no variation. The exact same breakfast options were given every day. We would have preferred some changes, since we had purchased the daily breakfast option. Other than that, we loved our stay there and would definitely recommend it.

Amazing hotel in a very good location in a gothic quarter overlooking port and easy access to airport and Olympic centre. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Very comfortable bed. Plenty of sockets to charge your devices. Large window and small balcony. Extremely well sound insulated. Check in and check out seamless. Staff very helpful and considerate going extra mile. Gym, rooftop bar with amazing views. Breakfast also was very good with many options. The only concern I’d have is the capsules coffee they offer, not so great.

What an amazing hotel, everything about it was just perfect and the staff were so attentive from the moment we booked to the moment we checked out.||The location is perfect and our room had stunning views of the marina. We were close to the Ramblas and enjoyed exploring the gothic quarter. Our room was spacious, clean and luxurious. The rooftop bar was stunning. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and the private transfers were quick and reliable. There was live music in the bar on the Friday and Saturday evening. The staff really did make our stay so special and we would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return in the future.

We stayed six nights at this hotel and loved it. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They had live music and a free wine tasting while we were there. The rooftop bar is lovely. Also it was easy to walk to La Rambla, the Born neighborhood and Sagrada Familia. Highly recommend.

Super good experience. Very kind and helpful staff, clean rooms, and everything was perfect. The only minor downside is that the metro station is about a 10-minute walk away. Otherwise, I loved the hotel and the staff. I booked through Agoda and paid €40 less than on Booking.com.

It looks good and has a nice location, but that's about it! The location is good if you like it here, but you can't sleep because of the noise from cars and people, etc. The windows are far too thin. The beds are incredibly hard, and the duvets are too thin for winter. The heating is turned off at night, so it's incredibly cold. I couldn't sleep because of the cold. Never take the 5th floor because the windows don't reach all the way down. Only if you stand directly in front of the window than you have a nice view. But if you sit down or lie in bed, all you see is a white border under a window. The noise from outside is 24/7! It feels a bit like a prison. They're friendly here but don't offer solutions or even small compensation. The things they promise, like upgrades, don't materialize either. You have to go to the main hotel further afield for everything, so you have to wear your coat and sometimes even get through the rain to get to breakfast. There's nothing here! Not even a toilet in the reception area—you can hardly call it a reception. They are friendly, though.

Visited the hotel for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The entire staff was amazing, our Jr. Suite was spacious and housekeeping did a great job. We also enjoyed our lunch at the rooftop restaurant with beautiful views. ||The location was excellent and steps away from the Gothic Quarter and Waterfront. Even though our room was on the street side, we did not hear any traffic noise. ||The reason we chose the room was because of the large bathtub. However the water never got hot and the water leaked from the faucet onto the floor. It would have taken an hour to fill even if the water was hot. We did ask it to be fixed but nothing was every done so we didn't get to use it at all.||Note; they keep the temperature of the room at one degree around 67 Fahrenheit and you can't adjust it. It was fine for sleeping because we do like to sleep cool, but it was a bit chilly during the day.||Overall, it's a lovely hotel, the staff is great and I would stay there again for sure!

Booked this hotel last minute and so very glad we did! Stayed 3 nights in double sea view which had a lovely balcony and overlooked the harbour and sea in the background. The hotel location is perfect 2 mins walk to The Rambler and right on the edge of the Gothic Quarter! |The staff have been incredibly helpful - especially Ruben the concierge who booked our City Bus tickets and taxi and gave us directions and recommendations - all with a smile and perfect English!! |Thank you Duquesa we will definitely return and we definitely recommend a stay here - it ticks so many boxes

Views are great from the terrace. Room faced the street and wasn't sound proof. Expensive for no breakfast included. Pool area is extremely small.

Highly recommend Hotel Duquesa de Cardona. The warm welcome by the reception felt like coming to a friend's house rather than coming to a hotel. Not only were they welcoming and helpful, their hospitality is top notch.

The people there are very nice. The Hotel is charming and nice. They keep it clean. It's in a great location. I enjoyed my entire stay. They have a nice rooftop bar that is arguably a bit high end. I loved their morning breakfast. I did not try their ground level restaurant, but I assume it's the same kitchen as the roof top and that food was very good. My biggest memory of the place was how friendly and REAL the people were, not fake, not some corporate drones who repeat approved ways of speaking. They were adult people who clearly took pride in their important jobs and did it very well. I would actually return to this exact hotel, when I next come to Barcelona. If you have never visited Barcelona, DO SO. But the #1 attraction, La Rambla, is overrated, other than the large open-air market on one side of it is a must see, skip the rest. Book attractions in advance, this beautiful city is popular and gets mobbed with eager tourists. Much to see and do in this beautiful gem of a city, filled with friendly amazing people.

Food recommendations were excellent. Walking distance to church (1 min walk) and close to beach and wonderful tapas and shops. It's an older property but very clean and very safe.

Excellent luxury hotel! Convenient to everything beach, shops and restaurants. Near Gothic quarters on Main Street. Staff friendly, premiere room front facing nice view, King bed was comfortable and nice with two showers for a family. Rooftop bar was easy and good DJ and love music. Well, the first night after traveling for nearly 24 hours including transfers and layovers. We arrived at our hotel exhausted and were glad we had made reservations days before for the hotel restaurant on the rooftop. Our reservations were 7 pm and when we arrived a few minutes early they kindly seated us immediately. We had a lovely view and the staff was warm, helpful and friendly. The meal was top-notch, we ordered the Iberian ham for an appetizer and I chose the tuna while my husband chose the duck breast. We loved every bite. As we were sitting enjoying our first drink (52 minutes after our scheduled reservation) a new waiter came up and informed us he needed our table as we were only two seated at a four-top. We have never had this happen to us before let alone in Europe of all places! We were so tired we just agreed and left. We hadn't even received our bill yet! The more we thought about it the more upset we became because everyone around us was drinking and as far as we could tell there wasn't much food being consumed other than by us and one other table. Incredibly rude! The food is very good, the view is great but they are much more concerned about turnover than their customers. Appalling! Stay away if you want to enjoy yourselves for more than an hour, it seems that is their limit!!! It totally ruined our first night in Barcelona.

The best location to stay when in Barcelona! It is about a 25 minute cab ride from the airport (35-45 euro) with average traffic. Not only is it across the street from the water front, but it is also a few blocks from La Rambla, shopping, a Michelin Star restaurant, the metro, & more! We had stayed a few blocks near Sagrada Familia which was great but this by far is close to so much more. The staff is amazing beyond words and accommodated everything! When we asked for something, it was out in minutes time. They gave us a free bottle of bubbly when we got into our rooms and a glass each to enjoy in their piano bar. The rooftop terrace bar had an amazing burger and views of the ferris wheel, the W hotel & the sea. The bed was the most comfortable out of all of our hotel stays in Europe. They have a pillow menu too if you have a specific preference. The rooms were spacious enough for what Europe gives you and the breakfast buffet was delicious!

I didnt think this would be as nice as it was and I was totally stunned. The rooms are beautiful! I was surprised at the price considering the location. What I really loved was how kind the staff were. Even the simple greeting from all staff members were appreciated. Also special thanks to Sara and Ruben, they were so sweet. The location is nice, it is near some beaches and not far from the main attractions. Some are walkable and some are a short bus/train ride away. I definitely recommend and I am excited to return again.

Great hotel and staff. I messaged them several times via my booking site and they helped us with setting up onsite COVID tests. Nice breakfast that you can add on to your stay. All the staff was amazing. From the moment we arrived, even before we walked in, Rueben came and met us to get our luggage. Bea helped us get checked. The staff at the restaurant remembered us. Nice rooftop bar with live music. Really enjoyed our 2 night stay here.

We came here for 2 days before our cruise left. I loved the location. Very close to La Rambla and direct view of the port. Only a 15 min walk to the beach. Everything was very close by! The room had 4 beds, the "big bed" was 2 twins together. I thought that was weird? My mom and step dad didn't mind! The other 2 twins are along the wall, one has its own tv. The bathroom is very nice. The shower is rainfall style and also has a handle. Very soft water, so refreshing. The toilet room, has a shower bathtub combo. They changed our towels everyday. I liked how they rolled them up on the bed, it was unique. The bed was comfortable. Blankets nice. We had a balcony view to the ocean. It was actually nice to wake up to hearing the streetcars in the morning! A nice breeze. They also have little chocolates on our pillows. Rooftop bar is nice. First night we had drinks upstairs. Such a beautiful view. We had honestly about- 7 Cuba Libre and 2 tequila and OJ. It was 70euro! I really enjoyed our stay. Very nice place.

Hotel Duquesa de Cordona is amazing. I hesitate to provide a review because I am afraid of this word getting out on this gem. From the minute we arrived staff welcomed us and treated us like royalty. I do not speak Spanish or Catalan, so language was a concern. All staff spoke English rather well. We checked in at 10:00 AM, there were no rooms ready, but rather than making us come back to check in, they took our bags, and checked us in while we were out exploring beautiful Barcelona. When we returned later that evening our bags were in our room waiting for us. The host several events during the week, music, drink making classes, wine tasting all free for guests. The front desk staff served as much as a tourist information booth as a hotel front desk, fabulous recommendations for places to visit, great directions on how to get places. The breakfast buffet is incredible, set in a beautiful multiroom dinning area with three separate rooms for enjoying a peaceful and delicious breakfast that would meet anyone's desires. The rooftop bar and restaurant make for a great relaxing evening. I cannot overstate what a wonderful experience it was staying at the Hotel Duquesa de Cordona.

Absolutely love this hotel, period! The location is fantastic and has a great view from the 6th floor to the beach and the city. We had stayed in the gothic district but this was a lot better in terms of location and the size of the hotel/rooms. The staff was very friendly and welcomed us in the best way. Once we received our room (had to check in at 3:00 pm but hung out at the rooftop pool during the day until it was time) we had a bottle of champagne in the room, a delicious crafty brownie and a beautiful room with excellent space and decor. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this hotel even though we only stayed for one night before our departure. We definitely wanted to stay longer!

This place was great. The service we received from the staff was professional. Rubin and Mar were especially helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. The rooftop terrace has great views of the city and beach. The hotel is in a great location, near the beach.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I have never had to leave such a negative review- I stayed 1 night before a cruise in Barcelona-- I checked out of the hotel at noon on a Sunday -went straight to the cruise and unpacked and realized to my horror that I had left my travel handbag in the room- I called immediately-(2 hours after checkout) and frantically begged them to get my bag. After 3-4 phone conversations and emails, they claim to not have the Louis Vuitton bag!--BUT, they did have a pillow and a shirt that were left behind. I implored them to check cameras, interview cleaning staff etc.... Still no bag-- When I returned from the cruise and showed up to the hotel to file a report and gather our other items back- The hotel manager was NOT available and the key to the "lost and found closet" and the head of housekeeping were NOT available - and after leaving Barcelona 2 days later- I received an email from the hotel that ALL the items from the room were conveniently not in there possession???? Unbelievable and Deceitful--- Do yourself a favor and stay at the Serras Barcelona hotel , a few doors down- That is a true winner!

This place is amazing! Definitely a 5 star experience. The location, the views, the terrace bar, the decor, and especially the staff. Words cannot describe and pics don't do it justice. If you like lux feel without lux prices then this hotel will not disappoint. The staff just make you feel like royalty. Very attentive and informative.

So glad we booked this hotel to stay at during our very first trip to Barcelona,Spain. The staffs here were so nice and accommodating throughout our whole trip. We had some issues with our flights being delayed but I was so glad I was able to communicate with the hotel staffs and they responded back so quickly. Thank you to Enrique for answering all my questions via email and David for being so helpful regarding tours and attraction tickets and deals while we were staying at the hotel. The place itself was beautiful and cozy. It is within the Gothic quarter and I love the fact that it's by the water but also within walking distance of a lot of attractions, such as, La Rambla street, La Boqueria market place, Musea Piscasso to name a few. I also love that every corner you walk into there are restaurants you can dine at until late into the night. Definitely will stay here again on my next visit.

This is by far the best panoramic view of Montjuic, the seaport and Barceloneta from the roof top of this hotel bar. The cocktails and drinks are decent and it's never too crowded which makes it a very enjoyable experience. Give it a try!

We enjoyed a five night stay at the Duquesa de Cardona hotel during our trip to Barcelona...we were a family of five and enjoyed two adjoining rooms at the hotel (2 adults and 3 kids). We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and recommend the Duquesa strongly! The hotel was one of the very few we found that catered to families and were easy to communicate with by phone prior to our visit and confirm that they would guarantee us adjoining rooms (which apparently in Spain was either an oddity or something few hotels would guarantee). The hotel is perfectly, centrally located right across from the bay/harbor, and within short walking distance from just about everything (5 minutes gets you to La Rambla, to the Picasso museum, to numerous plazas and restaurants, and all bus and walking tours). The hotel has spacious rooms, outstanding staff, a nice, but little, pool on top of the hotel on the roof with a beautiful view overlooking the city, and offers good amenities. The ONLY downside to the hotel which was disappointing, was it does not offer any kind of gym or fitness center...which would be my strong recommendation to them for the future. We found there was no need to have a car while in Barcelona, and found the staff very helpful in terms of making reservations for dinner/trips, providing advice, etc. Strongly recommend!

We stayed here for two days and loved it. Charming boutique hotel with the best rooftop bar in town! Location - right by the beach, walkable to many good bars, restaurants etc. Service & housekeeping - good. we had a prompt check-in. They even gave us early check-in and were helpful with information etc. They charge 10 euros per hour for a late checkout. Room - not so big but okay for a couple. We tried the classic room on 3rd floor but the patio(which is actually just a french window) opens towards the veranda on the inside of the building so can be a little dark. We then stayed on the 4th floor in a classic room with a patio which was much nicer as it was a little bigger with a small patio - you could actually open and step out a bit on the patio if you want - it's very small but still a patio :) Lots of light - much better than the inside open window as this patio opened towards the side street. Can be a little noisy as there are bars on the side street but we didn't mind it that much. We didn't eat at the hotel but we tried the rooftop bar and it was great! The rooftop bar is perfect for a sunny drink and some snacks. We actually enjoyed the rooftop bar the most! Definitely, recommend this hotel to anybody exploring Barcelona while staying by the water.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel and the staff totally made our first time to Barcelona that more special. We especially appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of Marta and Rubin. The hotel had great views of the marina from the top floor lounge and our marina facing room. Great location in the gothic quarter. We would definitely stay at this hotel next time back !!

Loved it here. Had a room with a small balcony overlooking the port. The highlight of this hotel is its rooftop terrace. A very beautiful view of Barcelona. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Central location in close proximity to everything. Walked everywhere and loved it.

We went here to watch the sunset at their rooftop bar. It got a little chilly as the sun went down, but staff brought a heat lamp over to us without being asked! Beautiful view!!

I stayed here this September during my honeymoon and they were absolutely wonderful! They greeted us with champagne and were incredibly attentive. I accidentally left my phone in a cab and the front desk worked hard to contact the cab driver and get my phone back for me. Very welcoming, service was great and the rooms were beautiful and clean. You really can't beat the location, either. We were walking distance to Las Ramblas and the Gothic District, and there are beautiful views of the harbor from the rooftop. I would recommend getting breakfast at a nearby cafe, though. We would go to Venus Cafe every morning in the gothic district and get espresso and a chocolate croissant and it only cost 5 Euro for the both of us.

My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon with a 12 day cruise that started in Barcelona and so we needed to find a hotel that was close to the Port of Barcelona. A quick search on Expedia turned up the Hotel Duquesa de Cardona. It was fairly highly rated, the photos looked lovely, and they had a great deal on. Since it was our honeymoon we figured we might as well splurge a little. Our flight arrived early in the morning and we got to the hotel around 11 am, a few hours before check-in. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready (which was to be expected) but the hotel staff were happy to take our bags into storage. They also offered us a glass of complimentary Cava (sparkling wine), and despite it being early in the day we're never one to pass up anything free! The staff were all very friendly (especially the baggage porter who called us a cab the next morning and made sure we got to the port) and their english was very good. We had some time to kill and thankfully the hotel's location couldn't be better. Just a short walk from the waterfront and Las Ramblas, with plenty of restaurants nearby. After killing time we returned and the porter brought all our bags up to our room for us, and they offered us more free Cava. The room itself was nice enough, but smaller than expected. It also was on the first floor, with no view, and because it faced the lobby was a little noisy at night, which wasn't exactly ideal for sleeping through the night to get over jet-lag. We also enjoyed their beautiful rooftop terrace with a lovely view, and a delicious restaurant (albeit a slightly pricey one). That evening we enjoyed cocktails, and split some tapas and a chicken caesar salad and all of it was excellent. Breakfast wasn't included and to be honest probably wasn't worth the price we paid, but the food was all fresh and there were plenty of options. All in all a very nice experience and perfect for our needs, though I wouldn't ever pay full price for a room. If you can get a deal, go for it, otherwise you might want to opt for a hotel where you'll get more bang for your buck.

Booked this location last minute and so far it's been amazing. Great location central and walking distance to everything. Definitely pay more for a marina view it's worth it. You'll get a clean and trendy/current room. Includes coffee, clean towels, wifi and a great shower/tub. If you don't have a device their computer center is pretty decent. This hotel has the feeling of a b&b or boutique hotel with the class and trendiness of a major chain hotel. The concierge/front desk staff is super friendly and bilingual. R My only complaint: our room #10 was next to the west side f the building where there's construction going on all day. As long as you don't plan to nap during construction it's lol good. But if you were hoping for a siesta, good luck sleeping with the pounding at your headboard. Regardless, I'd definitely stay here again! rooftop is a very cool place to chill at the end of a long tourist day. Great view and drinks. It's private so no riffraff.

A great hotel with a great location at marina. Rooms first class. Service outstanding. A lot of good suggestions on what to do including helpful maps and directions.

This is the best hotel.. the staff was really nice. The location was amazing. The rooftop bar was mind blowing although the pool was tiny but hey who cares, you got the best beaches around! Thanks for the wonderful experience, we will definitely be back!

This hotel has amazing rooms. We stayed here on our last night after traipsing through Copenhagen, France and Spain for three weeks and was the perfect way to end the trip. The rooftop bar/restaurant is to die for with a small pool and unobstructed views right over the port. We were given a family room for 230EUR/night -- it was HUGE with two bathrooms and space for at least five people and floor to ceiling windows that opened to the street below. To the right: the cathedral. Perfectly located. The buffet in the morning was more than adequate with great coffee. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that there is absolutely NO parking, nor do they have an arrangement with the garage across the street for which we had to pay another 30EUR for overnight parking. We would definitely return but without the car.

We stayed for five nights while vacationing in Barcelona. The hotel is beautiful and in a good central location. The room was nice, had all the basics, and the service was great. We should have splurged for the room with a view (of the water), we got the courtyard view which was nothing. The beds are FIRM, the decor is tasteful, the linens are nice and the rooms are quiet with high quality black out curtains. Be sure to check out the roof top pool and bar-the view is phenomenal. The 13euro p/p breakfast is high quality and worth the cost for the offerings. We opted out for local fare which was cheaper but not as nice- up to you. The bathrooms are nice but a little scary. The showers and tubs (modern and slick) are slippery and you step out onto slick marble. If you have any mobility problems-beware, there aren't enough hand holds. Something we find common in European bathrooms. Just an FYI.

Great hotel. Beautiful room and service. They have a roof top patio with stunning views and excellent staff. The complimentary breakfast was the best of the trip! Would stay next time I am lucky enough to go to Barcelona. In walking distance of beach and great restaurants.

We are currently staying here and it's a gorgeous hotel. We have a family suite that is incredibly spacious, has TWO bathrooms and 4 showers! The room is beautiful. We were greeted with complimentary bottled water, fresh juice and chocolates. The rooftop terrace is gorgeous with beautiful views, full bar and a very cool small "pool." The location could not be better. Highly recommend

We stayed at this beautiful property at the end of Sept 2015 and again in mid-Oct 2015. Let me start with check-in for both visits: the front desk people were absolutely awesome, extremely helpful and compliant. We arrived early morning due to our flight from the States and again back to the states from a cruise. On both ocassions the staff stored our bags and told us to give them an hour to get our rooms ready. Mind you we arrived at 8:00 am & check-in isn't until much later 12:00 I think. Anyway we went to eat came back hour & a half later they'd checked us in put our bags in our rooms (which was a blessing after a 12 hour flight) and offered us breakfast/coffee etc. unfortunately we'd just eaten. The rooms are well appointed with the balconey being right across from the marina. Because our flight back was so early & we were being picked up at 6:45 am the staff was kind enough to open the breakfast room 45 minutes early just for us - which was very kind on their part and much appreciated on ours. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel - the service & staff is impeccable and should we get to Barcelona again we will definitely be staying here. I highly recommend Duquessa de Cardona - you won't be disappointed.
