Great little hotel located close to the centre of Amsterdam! ||We stayed here for 2-nights mid September and it’s a lovely little hotel. ||If you want to stay central, you will need to stay in one of the traditional houses that do have narrow staircases- it’s how the city is built. There are a few negative reviews about this, just do your research!||The hotel is great, clean and friendly staff. It is small, but again, the majority of traditional buildings in the area are! If you want huge rooms, stay outside the centre! ||If you want a local experience- stay here!

Lovely room, compact but enough room for a couple, immaculately clean, staff were great. No complaints.||The hotel had an issue with the door cards but the lovely staff resolved this and gave us keys as a back up. I’d 100% stay here again.

Had a lovely stay in the city centre. Cozy and clean room, I left a message that the room was booked for my fiancé’s birthday and they decorated the room and left many chocolates :) What I personally especially loved was the brand of tea that was available and that there were also vegan chocolates in there! They also give you a list of recommended food spots to try. Definitely recommend!

Incredible what they made out of this little house! Very nice and modern rooms! It was also possible to store our luggage the day we arrived and checked out! Location was also quiet nice, closer to the center as expected.

The 3 person room was very small. the beds are so narrow I almost fell off of it during the night. The location is excellent, a short walk from central locations

We went out of our way to book Hotel Dwars during this week long stay in Amsterdam after a great experience here a few years back. After this stay however, we will not return to the property! The noise was extraordinary and came from another guest’s room - that guest brought a stereo speaker and used it, apparently to turn their room into a makeshift nightclub. Without a Dutch telephone number, and no landline provided in neither the room nor in the small lobby at ground level, there was no way to reach any staff to address this noise pollution. What made matters worse was our taking time to write a professional email to the manager to express our concerns. She took 3 days to respond! That’s correct, 3 days! At this price point, this is totally unacceptable and we will not only not stay at this property again, we can no longer recommend it to others. Competent management involves engaging with your guests. We found the staff, the manager excepted, to be friendly and sympathetic but it really was up to the manager to properly address this problem and she failed. Without question. You’ll also note photos from the room of some large spiders that should have been removed before we arrived. There are many other properties to choose when staying in Amsterdam and next time, we will exercise our preference to select another accommodation.

Our family of 6, ages 9-76, planned to stay here on our lay-over to Tanzania. The receptionist was so friendly and kind. She let us store our luggage and gave us a room to change our flight clothes. We came back at 3:00 to discover the room had been renovated and the chalking smell made staying there impossible. She had already booked us into another hotel and had a taxi ready to drive us there, at no extra cost to us. This was excellent service and we were so grateful, after a long day of sight seeing. |We highly recommend Hotel Dwars, for the exceptional service.

We loved our stay here. Fair price and very clean. Loved our room and how close it was to everything. My only complaint is that there are no elevators. So if you have kids and large luggage this one might be a little tough to get up the very narrow spiral staircase. Otherwise the location is very safe and we absolutely loved that it was next to one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to.
