Eastwest Geneva (Geneva, Switzerland) 22 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"At first blush a Swiss luxury hotel seemingly named after a series of trade agreements might not sound like the most thrilling proposition. But Geneva is a town of subtler charms, and the same can be said for the Eastwest Hotel — which, to be fair, is rather more likely to have got its name from its conjunction of European and Asian design elements than from anything else." - Tablet Hotels

Don't go into this expecting a luxury hotel in any way, but if the price is right it's not a bad stay (there's also a code in the reviews from a hotel reply that added free breakfast for us). As for the benefits, the location is excellent. It's true that the red light district is nearby, but it's a short, 3 minute walk to the beautiful waterfront area, plus near the train station. The rooms were very clean and the bathroom was newly updated. The soundproofing between rooms was quite good. For the negatives, the rooms are also dated. The floors creak quite badly, and you'll hear the people above you, and the soundproofing to the hallways isn't great either. The breakfast is a mixed bag; the quality is good (not great) but over four mornings there wasn't a single change made, and even the flavour of loaf they had was the same all four mornings. Staff was also somewhat mixed. We emailed about reservations at restaurants and about half of the time they replied within 15 mins, and half we had to follow up the next day. Checkout also took about 10 minutes which is far too long, with the staff at first believing we needed to pay for our breakfast when it was included. Overall, if you pay the same for this as you would for any other mid tier hotel, then I'd recommend it. There's a code that the hotel posted in the reviews that gave us free breakfast, and with that it was worth it, but don't expect a luxury hotel as the SLH collection suggests.

Very nice hotel for the price and a convenient location. We upgraded to the Junior Suite and it was well worth it. The rooms could use a bit refreshing/update. The rain shower was fantastic after a long day walking around Geneva. The staff was attentive. The hotel is located in the red light district area, however the area was very safe day and night. Many good restaurants, pharmacies, and grocery stores near the hotel. The Christmas market is about a block away in the lake area. No problems at all.

Very nice hotel reasonably priced. Rooms look a bit dated but are very clean. The upgrade to the Junior Suite was well worth it as the room was very spacious with a living area and secluded within the building. The location is perfect, however the red light district is nearby. That being said the area was safe and no issues whatsoever walking around at nights.

Although hotel looked a little dated initially, the upgraded bathroom was the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day with its deep soaking tub. The hotel also has its own little courtyard where we enjoyed some wine to share our Geneva experiences. The proximity to Lake Geneva enabled some easily accessible strolls along its walkways. Also walked to the Reformation wall in the early evening.

Wow. The level of service at this hotel was unbelievable. The reception was so friendly and as accommodating as they could be to my early check in request. They provide room service at an incredible speed. When I called reception to ask where I could purchase a charging converter they immediately brought one to my room free of charge. Carlos at the front desk was especially kind and thoughtful. I will be coming back the next time I am in Geneva - service like this is hard to find at hotels these days!

The hotel was very good, the room was spacious and it's in a central location. We stayed for four nights and had a really nice time during our stay. There are a few things I'd point out though...if you're arriving by train one of the streets leading down to the hotel isn't the best. It has a few not so great bars and shops located there but there are other routes to get to the hotel, so I wouldnt say it's a big problem especially as it's only a few minutes walk to the lake. The lifts just off the lobby area are hit and miss with registering that you pressed the button, other guests had the same issue from conversations we had while waiting for a lift. Another thing I wanted to mention is that we had the unfortunate experience of one of the cleaners throwing out a wire I use to charge my camera. I had put it in a white bag and put it along with a few other white bags I needed for our return journey. There were no issues the first many days but the day before our return, the cleaner threw out all the bags, incl. the one with my wire. We didnt get back till late and while they provided me with a replacement from a drawer of wires they had, I found the fact that the cleaner threw it out in the first place concerning. It was placed on a shelf under the tv and in all the years I've travelled, I've never had anything thrown out by staff, this is why I only rated it four stars.

I was hoping for more by staying here at an SLH hotel as they are usually beautiful but this one hit below the bar. The area surrounding it does not feel particularly safe- felt like a red light district when walking to the hotel. The room itself was nice and had a decent sleep quality and the bathroom had the fluffiest towels I have ever had in a hotel. Breakfast left a LOT to be desired so I would advise if staying here, don't add breakfast to your stay as it's just not worth it. They also don't replenish things that are running out even if there is still an hour or more of breakfast service to go. One of the only good things is that it's less than a ten min walk from Cornavin station and the bus station.

It's a conveniently located, nice hotel in Geneva. I've stayed there several times and had therefore planned to stay there in the future as well, but my booking got unexpectedly cancelled. The problem: there are barely any rooms left in Geneva during that time, and they are all three to four times more expensive by now. I've reached out to the hotel to ask if it was the booking platform or the hotel that had initiated the cancellation (mostly to make sure this would never happen again), but never got a reply from them. Finally asked them in person during my last stay and was told by the staff it wasn't them. Then talked to the booking platform, same answer. So, one of them is lying, I'll let you decide ...
