Let me set the record straight on this hotel. It's been getting a lot of bad reviews for not being a hotel as advertised. Yes that's technically true; they're dorm rooms that are used as a hotel during the summer. Yes there's a shared bathroom at the end of the hall and not one in the room. But it's NOT a hostel or guest house; there's no one in that room but you. All that being said the rooms were very nice and clean (although being dorms a bit on the small side but definitely not the smallest I stayed in Iceland) and have a queen size bed. They might not have a bathroom in the room but there is a sink so that was convenient, and the shared bathroom was in top shape. But where this place shines is the price. I ended up booking it last minute and it was BY FAR the cheapest place to stay in the area at around ~$100 US (I could have probably booked with a shady site for cheaper but didn't want to take a chance so I went through Booking.com). Not sure if other reviewers are just not used to Iceland prices or how much they paid but $100 for a single room in Iceland in July is a great price. Overall, for the price this was a great place to stay. It's perfect if you're looking for clean, no frills lodging and want to head off early the following day. Oh and there's a bar downstairs. For the price 4.5/5.

The overall experience with the hotel got me a mixed feelings. We’ve booked a room with private bathroom, but as we arrived, we were assigned to the room with the shared one. As we made the complain, the staff was making jokes between each other in local language so I am not able to say what they were talking about but it felt really unpleasant. Besides that when we got the correct room, it was the clean and good organized space with equipped bathroom.

The bathroom was not that clean, there was hair on the walls in the bathroom (dont know how it got there), shower wasn’t washed properly, just splashed with water. They gave us dirty towel and we think that one of the sheets wasn’t changed at all. But…… the good thing is that they gave us back our jackets that we left behind. 🙈

Let’s be clear, this place is not a hotel. It is a college dorm advertising itself as a hotel and charging a top hotel price. There are even college students still living here. The college students actually run the place. I am hoping they don’t write me up and hold back my grades as discipline. That happened to me once when now as in college. The student names are still on the doors. We feel tricked and ripped off. There is no tv in the room. Or even a phone to call the front desk. It is not a dump like some people describe. It is clean. But it does have a college dorm room smell like stale beer and dirty clothes. The location is very good. Nice view of the fjord depending on what rooms you are in. Thicker curtains would be good. I would not be as disappointed if the price was lower. They should be transparent about this place being a dorm.

Friendly staff. Good wifi. Nice clean rooms. No elevator present, only for disabled people. TV not working. A lot of free parking space. Small but good breakfast.

Good hotel |The bar at the reception has seats inside and outside and it was always almost empty. |The breakfast is very good, buffet has wide choice but beware the hotel is big and at the start of the breakfast there is a queue for about 20 minutes. So you either come 10 min earlier or in 20 minutes.|Clean and spacious enough rooms. Some with basins, some - without.|I guess there are en-suite bathrooms as well, but we stayed in rooms with shared facilities done the corridor.|Different floors have different capacity and sometimes their is a queue.|Location is very convenient - about 10 minutes walk to the centre of the city.|Plenty of free parking on site.

My husband, teenage daughter, and I enjoyed staying one night in a triple (a queen bed and a twin bed) with a private bath. This modern hotel with a Scandanavian feel is centrally located, including close to the beautiful Botanical Garden and the harbour area. The room is large, clean and well appointed. There's plenty of room in the closets as well. The bathroom was good sized as well. The breakfast was a combination of hot and cold dishes, so we filled up until dinner. The hotel was packed with tour groups, but it was quiet at night. The hotel staff was helpful and courteous. When we needed to arrange for a reimbursement of our cancelled whale watch due to bad weather, the hotel manager graciously placed the call to the company and explained to them in Icelandic what our inquiry was about (we received the reimbursement).

Located a little ways from the main roads is this nice full service hotel. There are two parts to this hotel. The older section is with shared bath and the newer building with private bathrooms. I stayed in the older part and I was satisfied with both the room and the toilet and shower facilities., The rooms are reasonably priced. The 24 hour staff is nice and helpful. It is easily accessible for handicapped people, There is adequate parking lot. The breakfast is very good. An added plus is the very good Akureyi Botanical Gardens located on the far end of the parking lot, |
