Quaint hotel, well located to the station and key places in town. We stayed in this hotel at the start and end of our trip for over a week in total. Our room was on the 4th floor and was very suitable for our family of 4. It was very clean and comfortable. Beds are good and we slept well. The staff at the front desk were always friendly and helpful. I would have given 5 stars but there was no lift in the building. We knew there was no lift but chose this place anyway due to location and price. We struggled getting our 4 heavy suitcases up the 8 flights of stairs. If you have small luggage it would be better.

Very clean rooms and comfortable beds (what matters to me most). Well located within easy walking distance to Old Stad, train, tram and bus stations as well as car hire depots. Christmas markets were great! Overall, a great stay.

Pretty good value during Oktoberfest. The really important thing to know is there are no elevators and some rooms are up three floors of stairs. If you can handle carrying your bags up and don't mind the climb at the end of the day it's a great hotel. Room was spotless and had daily cleaning.

Wifi is non existent which is problematic because it is false advertisement. If I complained at the front desk, I was politely dismissed by passing the buck. |There is not an elevator which is problematic because of several flights of stairs. |There is not a coffee pot in the room. |Security is loose. Front entry doors open at all times. |Rubber mattress pads on bed very uncomfortable and wrinkled so we took them off and put under our beds for a smoother sleep

Front staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Stayed 2 nights and the room and needs were very comfortable.

OK hotel, fairly cheap and mostly clean with decent breakfast. Front desk service was extremely rude with poor communication -- attempted to overcharge us and blamed an employee who was no longer with the hotel for what he claimed was an incorrect booking. We stood our ground, produced email messages with dates. He finally called "the boss" who promptly agreed to fix it. This gentleman worked the evening of May 7. Use caution if booking!

We really enjoyed our one night stay at Hotel Eder. The service at the front desk was very warm and friendly, and the breakfast room was so quaint with a great selection of breads and pastries. Our quad room was nicely set out with 2 singles in one area and a queen in another. The staff were kind enough to hold our bags after checkout until our afternoon train. Recommended!

Very small rooms, which are basic but clean. Decent shower, and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great - near the train station but on a fairly quiet street (except the construction site opposite). Overall it was acceptable for what we needed (a place to sleep), but I wouldn't go back. Other than the small room and lack of air conditioning, I can't quite put my finger on what was wrong - maybe it felt more like a private room in a hostel?

Yelp
From France to Munich for a few days, this hotel is close to the train to the airport and downtown Munich. The price is excellent and the hotel is old but well kept. We got the room for 4, 1 double bed and 2 singles, quite comfortable. The room is a good size, the shower is a little narrow at all sides but the water pressure is amazingly strong, we like it a lot. - The hotel doesn't have elevator, luckily we're on the second floor so carrying all the big luggages wasn't too bad. - The hotel doesn't have ice machine, so Californian like me who like to drink soda with ICE is out of luck. - The staff is quite friendly and helpful which is nice. - This hotel is just a place for us to take showers and sleep after a long day walking around. It serves its purpose. - It was cold in January, but the heater was quite efficient, we're very comfortable sleeping. This hotel to us is in a great location, walking distance to downtown munich and restaurants. The Kentucky Chicken and Pizzahut is right around the corners. The asian fast food is there too. 5 minutes walk to the train station to the Airport, this is a plus. The Wifi is efficient on the second floor. No coffee machine or anything in the room that I can recall.

Yelp
Stole $1,000 from me. Owner said nothing I can do about it. Criminal enterprise - be warned. POS hotel- linens smell like fish. Mice in walls. Construction going on all around it. No lift. Horrible rooms. Horrible place. Be warned!! Hotel Eder may be pretty on the outside, and certainly located strategically in the downtown area of Munich, but the owner's ethics are criminal. Given I was coordinating a a trip to Europe with my extended family, there were many moving parts, and at a point well before my scheduled stay, I realized I still would be in Prague on the date of my intended check-in, and in fact would not arrive to Munich until two days later. Naturally, I contacted Expedia immediately (who according to my chat contacted Hotel Eder) to inform them of my plans change, but due to their non-refundable policy, Hotel Eder refused to issue a refund for those two nights, BUT OK - the reservation was non-refundable (never again) ... and sometimes these things happen... c'es la vie .. During the course of the conversation with Expedia, per chat w/ Hotel Eder, I needed then to confirm Hotel Eder would not cancel my booking due to "no-show" on date of my scheduled check in. Indeed, per Expedia, the hotel promised they would hold my room, and I could just check in when I got here two days later. After all, the room had been pre-paid for one full week. However...... when I did actually arrive to check in to the hotel two days later as planned...the front desk clerk said due to my "no-show" (ugh--why do I waste my time..??) my room was no longer available, and naturally, they intended to keep my $1,000. I expressed my dismay and consternation at the news, and so the clerk decided to peer a bit more deeply into his system, and wa-la, then stated he did indeed have a nice, quiet room in the *second building, though it was up two flights of stairs (no lift.. no offer to help carry bags.. FYI I'm 54 years old.... obviously no spring chicken..), BUT OK... sometimes these things happen... Indeed, I had booked the trip months ago and at this point, having just driven from Prague, I really just needed a bed to sleep in PRONTO. HOWEVER, when I finally had climbed the two flights of stairs (which was really three..) w/ all my luggage (I had to make a couple of trips) and reached my room which overlooked an otherwise lovely court yard, to my HORROR, a large, noisy construction project was fully underway just below my room.. the raucous sounds of which (hammers, men yelling, machines, ladders screeching, etc..) only were magnified as they bounced off the walls of the courtyard below and seemingly directly into my very being. :( I called the front desk and relayed the horrific situation, but again the clerk said sorry, my stay was non-refundable, and I should just wait until 6 PM (only two hours away...:/), when the work day would be over. (However, work would then commence again at 8 AM the next morning, he added. :/) At this point, I immediately contacted Expedia and stated my position: when I had made *and paid for* the booking @ $1,000 US, it was "reasonable expectation" to assume that I would not be assaulted by construction noise during my stay (Otherwise, there were 100s of other hotel options); I already had lost $350 for two lost nights, and now, I would likely lose the balance, as I just could not stay here! I would have to make reservations elsewhere, and now, at the last minute to boot. Finally, having gone back and forth with the hotel, Expedia issued a $75 credit toward a future booking. (Woopdie doo.. though at least their gesture was supportive documenting my case.. so thanks, Expedia.. (?). Once Hotel Eder gets your $$, there are no guarantees your stay will be peaceful, quiet or enjoyable. In fact, you may not even be able to hear yourself THINK. After the work crew left, some other people appeared in the courtyard to have a few drinks, and they sat around a table hooping and hollering until the wee hours of the night... :/ Sure, Hotel Eder offers a bed and private room, but APPARENTLY the AIR SPACE is ALL THEIRS, and they don't care HOW you enjoy your stay with them... or NOT. They have your $$, and that is the ONLY thing that matters to this "family" (-owned hotel). SHAME. BE WARNED. Do your research carefully and buy every Trip Protection you can. In the end, if you have to bail due to poor lodging conditions at this hotel, the extra $ spent will be worth it. Oh, and when I finally did try to settle down and *maybe get some rest in preparation for my (projected) tedious day ahead, when I pulled up the comforter, it smelled like FISH. Also, there are mice scratching in the walls as I write this (will they stay there..? Or will they run across me tonight? :/) I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED w/ this place. If I could give it ZERO STARS (instead of one), I would. (I left the next morning to the tune of a $1K loss. Owner said too bad - and he kept my $. CRIMINAL.)

Yelp
Nice hotel but with a few issues in the summer. We were on the third floor (no elevator and very warm). The noise from the adjacent hotel( no A/C so windows have to be open) well into the late hours, trolley, and then 7am construction noise. Not quiet at all. Upside, lovely staff and breakfast. Also, the location is great for train and sightseeing. Definitely the noise is an issue for the travelers in warmer months. I don't think they can do much about the noise but people should be aware.

Yelp
I had a real nice stay here for one night in Munich. The hotel is in a very convenient location. It's a short walk from the main train station, but off a little on a side street so that there is not a lot of traffic in front of the hotel. The main thing I want in a hotel is a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to sleep. This hotel met all three criteria quite well. It was very clean and the bed comfortable. When going to bed early, I could hear people talking in the lobby and had to put in ear plugs, but after that there were no problems and I slept all night soundly. The room is small but perfectly adequate for one person. The TV had a large selection of channels. Wifi in the building had an excellent quality and I could use it on multiple devices. The staff is very friendly, and the breakfast buffet (which is included in the room price) is typical for a German hotel and was quite good.

Yelp
A good hotel with a few quirks, well worth the money. The staff is very friendly and helpful (no amex though). Breakfast, the usual you do get in the German hotels. However, they don't have a coffee machine so there are thermoses on the tables... one of the morning the coffee tasted like its been there a tad too long... so not too many thumbs up for that part. Wifi is available, however, just for one device at a time (I'm the geek with an iphone and a ipad... want both, and then its my wife with her phone... wifi family or what?) but I never got around to ask if I could have a second connection, mainly because its the wifi model where you have to keep logon to the service and hence one is normally enough and used in short bursts on a device a time. There is no lift so if you can't carry your own bag up the stairs you might be in trouble. We stayed on the 3rd floor, I believe there are 5 so beware weaklings :)) The room was quite small as well as the on-suite toilet and shower (no bath, too small). Location a short distance away from the central train station, though on a quiet side street, so not the usual clientele you normally find around a bigger train station just outside the hotel. Perfectly positioned for the beer festival ground and the central city. When we stayed the hotel was fully booked, and we heard several times when walking past the reception how they had to tell people calling that there are no rooms free... so it seems to be a busy hotel, and hence, book early. Just read my review through, thinking why on earth is this a 4 star and not a 3...don't know to be honest, probably the staff that notched it up and we will stay here on our next visit to Munich.

Yelp
This hotel is great. Nice front desk staff, rooms are spacious enough, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a real treat, lots of yummy rolls, meats, cheeses, juice, cereal, pastry, and hard cooked eggs. Very close to the main train station, just off a busy street down a quiet street. Quiet rooms. Nice that you leave the room key at the front desk because its on a big metal tag that you don't want to carry around Munich with you.

Yelp
Small but comfortable and clean rooms in a great location. If you are looking for large rooms, this is probably not the place for you, but we found we were really only there to sleep! The size was perfect for us. It is about 10-15 minute walk to the Marienplatz area and about 4 minutes to the main train station. There are a lot of good local restaurants nearby. The hotel is down a street that on first glance seems like a wide alleyway, but this is good! It is so quiet, and I never once felt unsafe. I barely heard any traffic at all, and the only reason I know other people are staying in the hotel is because I see them at breakfast. The rooms are very soundproofed. The breakfast here is a highlight. It is a good German breakfast that is very similar to what my German mother in law serves at home, but with even more variety. The breakfast nook and lobby are very pleasant as well. One thing to note is that there is not an elevator here, so make sure you can handle a flight or two of stairs!
