Where to Stay in Paris (Updated 2025)

"I found this no-frills hotel to be meters from the Eiffel Tower and a good budget choice for the location; rooms are on the smaller side but spacious enough and include a small desk, making it a practical option if proximity is your priority." - Matthew Kepnes

Everybody was nice and pleasant It's a smaller hotel, intimate older building, kind of a cool place to stay. Right where you wanna be location wise. So I highly recommend staying there If you're in paris for a day or two. Keep in mind the room we had had no air conditioning or heat. Just the way it is there. They did provide a space heater, but unfortunately it wasn't working. But we really didn't need it. But I'd stay there again if I was in paris and needed a room for the night. The location again is great.

Terrible hotel and staff. We got here and it smelled weird. Got up to our room and found the toilet was dirty and didn't flush well. The sink didn't drain at all because the stopper was broken. After raising the stopper by hand, the plumbing under the sink leaked. The elevator to our rooms was very small and made questionable sounds. The elevator broke that night, so we had to climb four flights of stairs every time we went to/from our tiny little room. We had to carry our luggage down that death trap of a spiral staircase. The owner apologized for the inconvenience, and we asked if we could have some of their (very basic) breakfast as compensation for the trouble. She replied "absolutely not." Terrible hotel, avoid at all costs. Also we paid extra for an Eiffel Tower view, but you have to basically lean out the window to even see it at all.

Hotel Kensington location fabulous 5 min from Eiffel tower. Staff are very friendly and helpful ! Best experience with them especially lady Katherine she saved my trip and Paris experience so a big thank you! She is the best.|If it's to a hotel I would recommend a little update on the room I was starting in for the price I think. I know Paris is expensive but still. Part from that it was clean , cleaning services great, breakfast every day not to bad ,fresh. Location very important you can get bus, metro, train literally 5 minutes from the hotel.|So in overall IAM very happy 😊 thank you

Fantastic location! Lovely street, relatively quiet. Lots of restaurants and a few supermarkets around the corner. The bed was very comfortable. Only comment I have is regarding the bathroom. It could use an update, the shower curtain did not prevent the floor getting soaked and it is awkward to have a toilet in front of the shower .

Had to switch hotels abruptly, walked into this hotel and asked for a room. They were so kind as to have a room ready for us, and it was even on the first floor. Now, I will say the room is in need of a makeover, and I think they plan on doing that though . Regardless, it is in a great location and is a place to lay your head down. The female host at the front desk was very nice, greeted us every time we came in.

Very disappointed, this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. The only good thing is how close is to the tower. I always travel and I’m not picky about places as long as they are and look clean and comfortable. This was not the case, the only reason why I stayed was because I had two days in Paris and the first day we checked in late. The gave us the room on the first floor close to reception, first of all the door was very difficult to open and/or close. When I mentioned to one of the receptionist at the front desk she couldn’t close and said I could leave it open that no one was gonna get in the room (I was shocked she even said that) I told her no and she proceeded to say we don’t have more rooms. Well, the room seems very old and dirty and the bathroom was horrible, nothing like in the pictures. I will leave pictures here for other people to be very careful when book here, because if you travel from so far like I did you will be very disappointed. The staff was friendly except for the lady, who pretended for us to leave the room open and also we had to leave the keys so they can clean it which I refused. I would never recommend this place to no body.

Google
If you’re looking for something that is close to the Eiffel Tower has convenient immunities around the hotel and friendly staff this is definitely the right place.||We were only staying one night and we’re very much unprepared to the point where I even managed to book the room a whole year in advance. Luckily, the reception staff were extremely helpful and kind and managed to get sorted really quickly. As I said, we were a little unprepared so didn’t even bring adequate charging facilities for our phones again, the reception staff are really helpful and they helped us out by charging our phones.||The room was clean but small, but to be honest, we had no intention of spending too much time in the room, so it was ideal for a one night stay.||Highly recommended

The staff were very friendly and accomodating, especially the lady working during the day. Room is in line with expectations. We stayed on the 6th floor and there were no views of the tower and the room was small, and no aircon made it stuffy at times. The room was clean and the lift was very useful in getting our bags up! ||Location was excellent with great restaurants around!

Yelp
Cute and quaint motel that sits literal blocks from the Eiffel Tower. I use the word motel because this place lacks the squeaky clean, and shiny attitude of a proper hotel. Bed and breakfast vibes all the way. The hotel is blocks off the Eiffel Tower monument and surrounding park area. Location! Location! Location! There are TONS of markets, shops, dining, and necessities in the area. If you want something, you'll find it within a 2-3 block radius. Highly suggest venturing outside the area though, as it's a bit of a tourist trap in the area. Free simple breakfast with all the French essentials served from 7-11. Staff was accommodating and very warm and welcoming. English is spoken here so don't worry if your French isn't up to snuff. Our room, 43, was in direct view of the Eiffel Tower, and had large French style windows that opened. Small desk in room is great if you need to answer emails or get work done, but id suggest a local cafe for that. Things to be aware of before you book: This is a 2 star hotel, so don't hold any major expectations. Our room was clean upon first inspection, but closer looks reveal dirt, dust, and grime in areas that aren't frequently used like the closet, tops of the drapes, and corners of room. Carpets and drapes seem like they haven't been replaced since the hotel was built. Adds to the character of the place but there were lots of stains, and both were well used. Our room smelled like it had been smoked in for 40+ years. It's a non smoking room now, but the walls, carpets, and cabinets all held on to that smoke smell, so we kept a window open and a fan on while were were gone. Wall paper was cute but peeling in many areas, adding to the dingy feel. Shower was small, as most are in Europe, and the head was very difficult to use and would not stay in one place while showering. Towels were standard hotel quality. Toilet and sink were fine, just be ready for cramped quarters! Would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, or larger people. 15 year old Hair dryer was usable but very worn, and would auto shut off within 2 minutes of use. No coffee maker or kettle in room, so pick any of the dozens of cafes in the area if you want coffee or tea. They do have a coffee machine in the lobby, and beer, wine, soda and champagne for sale. No heat or climate control in room. We stayed in mid September and the room got a bit chilly at night so we requested an extra blanket which was provided. It smelled like an old French man though. Dingy appearance was kind of disappointing but gave it a real bnb type feel, felt like we were in a persons home that had secure hotel style doors. All in all: don't expect the world here. It's a mom and pop hotel, blocks away from the Eiffel Tower, all at a very reasonable price, which is why we booked here. I was told by a friend "you're in Paris so you should be out and about, and not in your room frequently." While I agree with this, im someone who enjoys the wind down and the retreat from a busy and bustling day of adventure, and with that comes comfort. My spouse and I loved this hotel. We would stay again if they made some tasteful room renovations that wouldn't take away from the 19th century feel, and did some serious deep cleaning. I enjoy supporting local business and people, and it felt great to do that here with this establishment.

Yelp
Wifi didn't reach the room, there was a bad smell in the room (stale, wet, mildew smell), the bed mattresses were hard and uncomfortable, the bathroom was extremely small, and the room didn't appear to be cleaned very well. We couldn't even stay the whole night there and had to leave to go to another hotel. We bought 2 rooms and never even entered the other room. Asked for a refund for the other room because we never entered it and hotel would not refund anything. They also charged €15 euro per room for an early check in, for a total of €30, and then after that the hotel worker proceeded to tell me that the elevator wasn't working and that we had to bring our luggage up to the 4th and 6th floor by hand. No assistance offered. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Yelp
This was our first dream trip to Paris and we were not disappointed. Found this hotel listed in the Rick Steve's travel guide and chose it based on reviews and location. Expected small rooms in Paris...in most hotel reviews so we weren't surprised by the 9x9' room. Our first room #42 faced the inner courtyard and even with the window open all night, we couldn't hear any traffic, it was silent. The bathroom however was about 6'x3' in it's entirety and way too small for me (the shower stall was about 24" square). They changed our room the very next day with no problems. Our second room #15 was right on the street with a view of the Eiffel tower through the trees on this gorgeous tree lined street. Too noisy to leave the window open at night but the overhead fan kept us cool enough and it was a normal sized bathroom with a tub. I'd book this room again in a heartbeat. It is small. Barely big enough for two, but you're hopefully not in Paris to hangout in your room. The bus stop is literally right in front of the hotel. Bus 69 is awesome and runs past most of the main museums up and down the Seine River. The 87 bus goes through the wonderful shopping areas of the St Germaine neighborhood. Buy a couple of packets of tickets and ride the Paris transportation system anywhere. We picked up taxis too with no problem and the hotel is about 4 blocks from the Ecole Militaire metro stop. The location of this hotel is amazing. 3 blocks from the Rue Cler markets and shops, a block from a laundromat, and it's near a bunch of great restaurants. The staff was exceptionally helpful and kind. The breakfast in the lobby turned out to be a nice way to start the day with pastries, fruit, cereals, yogurt, ham and cheese. They also have a wonderful espresso, cocoa, coffee machine and juices and milk. I can't recommend this hotel high enough. For the location, price and value in the heart of very desirable neighborhood, it's a win. My only gripe was only one outlet in the room, on the floor near the door. Blew my surge protector the first time but was able to charge my cell phone with the converter with no problems. There was also a safe in the closet of both rooms that we had. I truly had an exceptional trip, largely in part due to the great place we stayed for five nights.

Yelp
Hotel rooms are so small, bathrooms are even smaller. You can't take shower without touching the wall on one side and shower curtain on the other side. Hotel is very old and grungy. Hotel staff members aren't friendly. Room prices are very high compare to what hotel has to offer. Hotel has 5 floors and we we arrived to the hotel elevator wasn't working. We had to carry our luggage on the 5th floor on a spiral staircase. Wi-fi is available only in lobby, not in the hotel room. That was a big pain. You can't make a phone call via wi-fi in the lobby because the receptionist watches TV with loud volume. You are not allowed to sit in a breakfast area to use the internet, even though receptionist is watching TV with loud volume. Only good thing about this hotel is Location, it is very close to Effiel Tower.

Yelp
This is my first time in Paris so I'm not sure if what I experienced was typical, but I will rate based on my preferences. There was no AC, so we had to sleep with the window open, which meant hearing traffic all night and waking up. The shower is so small that when I shower, the water leaks out. The WiFi only works downstairs in the lobby. The location is nice, but I want a place to rest for the night and not be afraid of going back to my hotel.

Yelp
This was the vacation of a lifetime for me. It was in November 2015, so tourism was down . I was able to see everything I ever wanted to see in Paris without waiting in long lines. As far as Hôtel Kensington.... I found this place to be nothing short of charming. It was reasonably priced and the location was perfect. Two blocks from the Eiffel Tower and about 4-6 blocks to the closest Metro station(Ecóle Militaire). The building itself is quite vintage. It definitely had a 19th century vibe, but the rooms and bathrooms were well maintained and clean. It was also equipped with a safe.. A big plus in my book. They offer a great continental style breakfast for €6. I recommend trying at least once. They serve it to you formally . The staff is very friendly and accommodating . I stayed here 2 weeks and plan on returning . Happy Traveling;)
