Cute and quaint motel that sits literal blocks from the Eiffel Tower. I use the word motel because this place lacks the squeaky clean, and shiny attitude of a proper hotel. Bed and breakfast vibes all the way.
The hotel is blocks off the Eiffel Tower monument and surrounding park area.
Location! Location! Location! There are TONS of markets, shops, dining, and necessities in the area. If you want something, you'll find it within a 2-3 block radius. Highly suggest venturing outside the area though, as it's a bit of a tourist trap in the area.
Free simple breakfast with all the French essentials served from 7-11.
Staff was accommodating and very warm and welcoming. English is spoken here so don't worry if your French isn't up to snuff.
Our room, 43, was in direct view of the Eiffel Tower, and had large French style windows that opened. Small desk in room is great if you need to answer emails or get work done, but id suggest a local cafe for that.
Things to be aware of before you book:
This is a 2 star hotel, so don't hold any major expectations.
Our room was clean upon first inspection, but closer looks reveal dirt, dust, and grime in areas that aren't frequently used like the closet, tops of the drapes, and corners of room.
Carpets and drapes seem like they haven't been replaced since the hotel was built. Adds to the character of the place but there were lots of stains, and both were well used.
Our room smelled like it had been smoked in for 40+ years. It's a non smoking room now, but the walls, carpets, and cabinets all held on to that smoke smell, so we kept a window open and a fan on while were were gone.
Wall paper was cute but peeling in many areas, adding to the dingy feel.
Shower was small, as most are in Europe, and the head was very difficult to use and would not stay in one place while showering.
Towels were standard hotel quality.
Toilet and sink were fine, just be ready for cramped quarters! Would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, or larger people.
15 year old Hair dryer was usable but very worn, and would auto shut off within 2 minutes of use.
No coffee maker or kettle in room, so pick any of the dozens of cafes in the area if you want coffee or tea. They do have a coffee machine in the lobby, and beer, wine, soda and champagne for sale.
No heat or climate control in room. We stayed in mid September and the room got a bit chilly at night so we requested an extra blanket which was provided. It smelled like an old French man though.
Dingy appearance was kind of disappointing but gave it a real bnb type feel, felt like we were in a persons home that had secure hotel style doors.
All in all: don't expect the world here. It's a mom and pop hotel, blocks away from the Eiffel Tower, all at a very reasonable price, which is why we booked here. I was told by a friend "you're in Paris so you should be out and about, and not in your room frequently." While I agree with this, im someone who enjoys the wind down and the retreat from a busy and bustling day of adventure, and with that comes comfort. My spouse and I loved this hotel. We would stay again if they made some tasteful room renovations that wouldn't take away from the 19th century feel, and did some serious deep cleaning. I enjoy supporting local business and people, and it felt great to do that here with this establishment.
