El Cau de Papibou is a delightful, small hotel that is beautifully managed by Alicia. As your host, she has a wealth of information about this fascinating village, and surrounding areas. Plus, she offers a very warm greeting and facilitates any and all needs while you are staying with her. As the hotel has only 7 room, I suggest one of the superior choices with king bed and window onto a lane or courtyard. We loved our room with espresso maker and mini-fridge, plus a large window that was festooned with a cascade of blooming vines. The bathroom, a few steps down from the bedroom, was bright, spotlessly clean, and had a superb shower arrangement. The morning breakfast featured fresh breads, local sausages, and a special omelet that was custom made by Alicia; delicious! My only caution for people wishing to visit Peratallada, and this hotel is that Peratallada is a pedestrian village so it is necessary to walk some distance to your hotel with your luggage; you should plan accordingly. Too, once you have reached El Cau de Papibou, all rooms are on the second floor, and there is no lift.
