We went for New year, only to find the town (and the hotel) practically deserted. The welcome from Sara was warm and sincere, and we were given one of the best rooms in the hotel. The views from all the front rooms are spectacular, looking up at the cathedral and the old town. Parking across the road couldn't be handier, and it's no more than 3 or 4 minutes walk into the town centre. Bear in mind it's on the main road through the town, but on both occasions we've stayed in this hotel, it hasn't been a problem. With the high altitude and the steep streets, you'll sleep well in Albarracin no matter what!!
The hotel was immaculately clean, and it was obvious that they are trying hard, even in this most difficult of times. There were no other hotels in the old town open, and with 2 rooms occupied over New Year, this shows the devotion to the business which Sara the proprietor obviously has. The room was spacious with a huge bed, a seating area, a fridge and small balcony. The bathroom was also very comfortable and the shower was great.
The hotel wasn't advertised in the usual booking sites, so I'd recommend contacting the hotel directly by email or through their website as we did. Emails were answered quickly and clearly, and it couldn't have been easier.
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay in Hotel El Gallo, and we'll definitely be going back. 100% recommended!!
