Hotel El Palacil

The location is quite lovely, you can hear the river and birds. The location is about 10 mins from the 'centre' of town. The apartment we had was spacious, and had a certain charm to it. Felt a bit like a ski chalet. The apartment itself felt quite dated. We had two single beds, ideally would have wanted a double bed room. The breakfast is 'included' but it was a very basic - some bread, ham and cheese left in the room, and some jams and a couple of bits of fruit. We would rather have opted out and bought better products from the shop.

We've been living in the lovely town of Vélez-Blanco for 14 months, and there's lot's of nice restaurants in the Los Velez area. El Palacil is one of them, and we've had dinner there on 3 occasions. First of all, the service is good, nice and friendly. The food is good and prices are reasonable. Most restaurants in Spain lack a nice ambiance (bright lights, no decoration, outdated furniture), but El Palacil is an exception. There is a nice and cozy dining room with an annex for large groups. So this restaurant is definitely worth visiting.... but.... during our last two visits, there was an older man (the owner's husband?) sitting next to the bar in front of a loud and blaring tv. The tv was louder than the background music. This is not acceptable when you're enjoying your meal. We urge the owner to take the necessary steps.

We ate here twice on a recent ten day trip. The first night we dined in for 3 courses the second night we got a takeaway pizza and ate it in the peaceful church gardens up the hill. Everything we ate was top quality and the service was outstanding from the 2 young male waiters to the couple that own it, they treat all guests with amazing attention. This place is a must for any visit to Velez Blanco!

I been in here before and was amazing to eat in the restaurant with the lady owner, who was amazing to serve us. Note:: This time visit I sat on terrace and I was seen by young punk waiter who works in there he never never came to me to ask if I need I drink, etc!! when 7 Spaniards were been serve and well looked after. Not acceptable amigos. 🇨🇦👎🥱🙄🤬

My husband and I stayed in a one bedroomed apartment for two nights in September. Velez Blanco is a pretty town of narrow and steep streets and the hotel is down by the water spring. It is a simple, family hotel with a restaurant. The apartment was clean and comfortable with a small balcony and the breakfast was simple but fine - a plate of cheeses, ham and sausages with bread, jams and tea or coffee. We ate in the restaurant one evening. The food was good and the portions generous. The owners spoke little English but were friendly and helpful. This was a good and very reasonably priced base in the Sierra de Maria which has some lovely walking.

We visited the area with friends, and found our way to El Palacil for lunch. We each ordered a main course, and our friend ordered a goat cheese salad as an extra. The portions of food were plentiful and very tasty. We opted for the lamb, which was amazing. Everything was fresh, with fabulous flavours. Service was great and the lady who served us asked if it was our first visit there (which it was) and she was patient while we practiced our Spanish. |Set in lovely surroundings with a beautiful view, we would definitely recommend.

This accommodation is ok. You get a small apartment with cooking facilities. Bed was comfortable with plenty of hot water. Having a restaurant is a big plus as it is difficult to get evening meals in some smaller towns out of season. The food here is good and even when the restaurant was closed to the public they made a meal for us. The owners looked after us well. We were here for 5 days walking and really enjoyed the area.

Having visited El Palecil Restaurant many times over the past 7 years. We have always had a most enjoyable experience. From the friendly smile at the door, to the fabulous food, excellent wines and courteous service. Highly recommended. A lovely converted water mill in a breathtaking setting. We have also stayed in the apartments on occasion. They are most comfortable and a great base to explore the surrounding areas
