We stayed here for a night on on way to Colombia. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early. The location itself it fairly far from Huaraz, maybe 15 to 20 minutes away and a cab should cost you 8 to 10 soles. A collective, or small bus should run you $1 sole and it is fairly fast. The station is right next to the hotel. Up the street from the hotel the Monterey hot springs, you can walk there and they are suppose to be fairly nice. We did not go so i can't recommend. We did not eat dinner at the Hotel, but when we got back it did not seemed open. We did arrange breakfast for the next morning and they catered to the fact that our flight left so early. We had great strong coffee, sweet bread, and some eggs. Our room was quaint and charming. The room was spotless as well as the bathroom. The beds were comfy and the grounds were meticulously kept. There is also free WIFI. If you like a place away from the Huaraz noise than this is a great spot. The negative is the distance away from any places to eat. Monterey, the town does not have a selection of restaurants. If you do go out to it a recommend TRIVIO, it is a upscale pub with Sierra Andena on tap. Sierra Andena has great tasting selection. The brewery itself was started by a couple of americans at the taste is on point. The food is burgers, sandwiches and some local dishes. I recommend the veggie burger as it was gigantic and full of avocado. I had the regular burger and it was dry!!
