Hotel El Pequeño Gecko Verde

⸻ Our stay at El Pequeño Gecko Verde was wonderful. We were here with our daughter, son-in-law, and two very young grandchildren. This intimate resort is beautifully located in the jungle. It has a swimming pool and serves delicious, very varied breakfasts. The place is spotless and extremely well maintained. On the grounds of Gecko Verde live a family of raccoons, coatis, and armadillos. We could also hear monkeys in the surrounding jungle, which made the experience even more special. The owner and the entire staff are amazing, kind, and always helpful. The gentleman and lady at the reception are wonderful and very supportive. We would like to thank the whole team sincerely for everything. If we have the opportunity, we would love to come back someday. Joanna with her family from Poland (Sopot)

Charming lodge in the jungle yet close to Samara—5 minutes by car (about 20 on foot). As with many Costa Rican roads, the access is a dirt track, but it was fine even with a regular car. Very quiet at night, with a nice pool and convenient on-site parking. We loved the private walkway to a mostly empty beach (I wouldn’t use it after dark—lots of leaves and possible critters). Overall, a very good experience and great value for the price.

We had a wonderful experience. Great pool quiet nights perfect breakfast and hospitality beyond belief. The prices were low in late November. The bungalow had an outdoor shower to shower under the stars but still private and secluded. The owners are on site and it shows! We will be back soon and definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Samara.

We had such a pleasant stay at Hotel El Pequeno Gecko. The room was perfect. My partner and I stayed in Guanubana. We cooked breakfast and ate al fresco on the patio. It was awesome. The staff and owners were amazing. Our car wouldn't start the morning we we leaving and they helped with a jump. The area is great! If you are looking foe a place definitely book the stay here. You will not be sorry.

This is a cute and quiet, if a bit rustic, little location. The outdoor showers are cool. The beds are comfortable compared to others in Costa Rica. AC works well. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the covered deck where we read and played cards during the rain. The best part is the beautiful tropical environment. It’s like being nestled in a little jungle cottage. It is farther from town than I realized though, and coupled with a very poor road (not the hotel’s fault) the drive or walk into town wasn’t fun. If that doesn’t bother you, or if you will be visiting with a high clearance car or in a dryer season, this may be a good choice for you.

Everything about this place was perfect. The staff and owners were friendly, helpful, and attentive. The bungalows were comfortable and clean. The grounds are beautiful. It's a short walk or bike ride to town and the beach, which means it's also quiet. There's also a nice trail to a hidden beach from the back of the property - included in photos

We had an amazing stay at El Pequeño Gecko Verde in Sámara, Costa Rica. This hotel is a peaceful and charming oasis, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The owners are incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The location is ideal, just a short distance from the beach and the town center. The serene atmosphere and attention to detail truly set this place apart.
