Wonderful Stay at Hotel El Silencio del Campo Perfect for Couples and Families We had a fantastic stay at Hotel El Silencio del Campo in La Fortuna, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The hotel is ideal for both couples and families, offering excellent accommodations in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The lodges were very spacious, thoughtfully designed, and extremely comfortable—especially the beds, which made for great nights of sleep. In the morning you could hear the cows and the cockerels. What a wonderful sound to wake up to. One of the highlights of our stay was the wonderful hot springs: relaxing, well-maintained, and never overcrowded. Just perfect to relax in. The on-site farm was a delightful experience, especially for families. We were able to milk a cow, collect fresh chicken eggs, so you knew what eggs where in your omelette and what fresh milk you where having in your cup of tea. We enjoyed seeing a great variety of animals and birds, including ducks, peacocks, pigs, horses, donkeys, and more. It added a charming, authentic touch to the stay. Another memorable experience was at the restaurant. Fruit was placed on tree branches nearby, attracting many colorful birds that would eat while you enjoyed your meal. Even squirrels came by for pieces of banana and were friendly enough to take them right from your hand—an unforgettable and unique experience. Getting into town was very easy by ordering an Uber, and La Fortuna offers a great selection of restaurants. Overall, El Silencio del Campo is a beautiful, relaxing hotel with unique experiences, warm hospitality, and excellent amenities. We would absolutely recommend it and would love to return.

Loved this hotel! Comprised of around 23 casitas. The grounds were beautiful, lots of birds around and beautiful flora. The hotel has a small farm on the premises that was so fun, we even milked a cow! The hot springs pools were a highlight of our stay, we would do tours/activities during the day and then come back and get in the hot springs pools in the evenings, it was so relaxing. We had a couples massage at the spa and it was great also, and very reasonably priced too! Breakfast is included each morning and it was fresh and delicious. The management/staff at the hotel were so helpful and friendly, really exceptional service!

We had an amazing time at the Hotel El Silencio del Campo! The hotel has a wonderful working farm and my two sons (ages 7 and 9) had the chance to go horseback riding in the morning, milk cows, and collect eggs from chickens! The hotel also has four beautiful natural hot springs right at the hotel, so no need to deal with long lines at some of the other hot springs in Arenal. Also, the food at the restaurant was amazing and the staff was so friendly and kind. I highly recommend the Hotel El Silencio del Campo, especially if you are traveling with kids, it is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

We just visited again in 2026, hoping it would be as wonderful as our 2015 trip. We were not disappointed! We love the size and relaxed approach of this place. The cabinas are attractive and spacious. The grounds our gorgeous (even with the new big hotel built nearby). We were there during rainy season, so unfortunately could not see the volcano through the clouds. The design of the hot springs are wonderful...nicely isolated and roomy. May at the pool bar was very nice, especially during our Super Bowl viewing. Harrison at the restaurant was fantastic and very patient with my terrible Español. The on-site animal farm and garden made for a very nice post-breakfast habit...kids can help with egg gathering. The breakfasts were delicious and offered fun bird sightings.

Loved our stay here! Everyone on the staff was extremely nice and accommodating, the hotel itself is beautiful and you can tell they love to take care of the nature and wildlife around them at all times, especially around breakfast when they stick fruits on trees for all the wildlife! Rooms were spacious and clean, distance to town center was only few minutes with Ubers. Only thing was that the WiFi was really slow, we did ask the front desk and they said they’ll send someone to repair but no one ever came. But we weren’t in the hotel during the day any way, and used the hot springs, which are highly recommended, whenever we got the chance, even in the rain! Food at breakfast had limited menu but it was delicious. The farm definitely needs to be visited so you can look at all the different animals, including cows, chickens, horses, peacocks, and even sloths in the tree!

Such a fun place to stay. We took advantage of all the special amenities this hotel had to offer, including the farm and its activities, the hot springs and the bar/restaurant. The kids loved the farm, with collecting eggs as a highlight. We all enjoyed drinks and food at the bar beside the hot springs. The cocktails were prepared with fresh fruits and herbs and tasted great, especially the passion fruit margarita. Service was excellent, and we enjoyed our food selections. The rooms were simple but comfortable and provided everything we needed. I would definitely return here. Some small suggestions: please add more lounge chairs at the hot springs and over the entire property for enjoying the beautiful scenery or a morning coffee. And please don't require the maid to check the room before we leave; it is tacky and does not align with the overall small town community feel of this lovely hotel resort.

We stayed here for our honeymoon at the start of December and had the most perfect stay. We had the bungalow with a jacuzzi bath which was in a secluded area of the resort and so peaceful. The hot springs are incredible and the perfect place to relax after a long day of activities. Everywhere was very clean and immaculate. The food was excellent. We liked how they had both a restaurant and bar menu which allowed for more casual dining. Breakfast was delicious each day and they put fruit out for the birds for some bird watching. The breakfast is a la carte and freshly prepared, much better than a buffet in my opinion. The staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. We also booked a sloth tour through the hotel which I can highly recommend. This place was 10/10 and I would absolutely recommend staying here.
