What a wonderful vacation! We recently stayed at this hotel and were absolutely delighted. From the very first moment, you could tell they care for you: friendly staff, quick check-in, and a genuine desire to help with any questions. The room was spotlessly clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed down to the last detail—from the comfortable bed to the pleasant compliments of tea, coffee, and little touches. The hotel grounds are well-maintained, with beautiful green areas and seating areas. Breakfast is a special treat: delicious, varied, and always fresh. We were especially impressed by the attentive service of the restaurant staff. The atmosphere is also worth mentioning—calm, comfortable, and conducive to a truly relaxing stay. We never encountered any inconveniences during our entire stay. The hotel completely met all our expectations and more. We will definitely return and confidently recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality, comfort, and hospitality!

The price-performance ratio is very bad. Playa Hermosa has not much to offer - so the price was very high compared to the activities. Of course the location is not far away from Liberia (airport). The beach is very nice and was not crowded. We enjoyed the beach in the early morning and evening hours a lot. Especially the attendance of the beach cats. The service from the restaurant was very kind and attentive but the service at the front desk was just arrogant. The rooms were clean but there was a very terrible moldy smell. For the price we paied really unacceptable. Sometimes you had to wait a very long time for warm water.

I go here every year with my sister-in-law. I cannot say enough good things about El Velero. The rooms are great, clean and comfortable. The restaurant is fabulous with great food. My favorite is the filet mignon on Wednesday and Saturday Barbeque Night! The staff is awesome, friendly and just the best. I prefer just laying around and it's perfect for that but many excursions can be booked too. I even had a beach kitty hang out with me most days. Absolutely love it here and already have reservations for next year!!

Extremely clean hotel in a beautiful location - the perfect spot to stay <30 minutes from Liberia airport. We stayed on our first and last nights and it was perfect.

We decided to stay at Hotel El Velero because we wanted something small and close to the beach. The hotel delivered on both counts.||It's a very small hotel--likely fewer than 30 rooms total and a far cry from the resort crowds. There's a nice, small restaurant next to the pool. We ate there a few times (breakfast and dinner), and the meals were good each time. We also really enjoyed various cocktails (guaro sour for adults, virgin daiquiris and piña coladas for the kids) during happy hour. ||The location is perfect. The hotel is directly on the beach, and there were plenty of hammocks, chairs, and beach loungers for us to use. There's also a good shower (and hose) on the pool deck, so we never felt like we were tracking sand into our rooms.||The rooms were comfy but not too fancy. We had 2 rooms (3 in one, 2 in the other) and didn't feel cramped. The rooms were clean and updated. ||The only things keeping this from a 5-star review: breakfast isn't included (which we knew), and coffee is technically only complimentary before 7 am. (The bar staff seemed a little flexible on the cutoff.) Each room comes with beach towels, which you exchange at the front desk after using. Unfortunately, there were often no clean towels available, and when we checked out, we were mildly interrogated about "losing" towels because the room had fewer beach towels than when we checked in. To date, we haven't been charged, and I don't expect to be. ||Overall, this hotel has a great, low-key vibe--not overly touristy or commercialized. Exactly what we wanted!

Little gem in Playa Hermosa ! This is a nice place to stay while visiting Playa Hermosa. The location is great, and with a small pool/ outdoor area that sits on the beach in a lovely palm lined cove. Our room was not large, but quiet, clean with strong shower, and the A/C worked well. We had a most delicious dinner here with some of the best fresh grilled fish I have ever had. There is a separate private parking area for guests, and the staff were friendly. I would stay here again.

We just spent a full week at the charming El Velero Hotel on Playa Hermosa. We were warmly introduced to the kind and friendly staff, and our room was fresh and ideal. The AC and fan work great, the shower was really good and we had a king size bed with a beautiful view of the sunsets. The whole property was constantly being tidied and cleaned, swept and washed, and every morning the pool was being meticulously maintained. |It was lovely to be able to hang our clothes in the closet and feel like we were home for a week, where we were taken care of and always being asked how we were and if everything was to our liking. This is a great hotel for couples or families, business or solo trips, there was never much noise late in the evenings, and the atmosphere was congenial and also conducive to meeting other friendly travelers of a similar mind. |We got great recommendations for things that we specifically wanted to do within our budget range, including a fantastic day out at Diamante, road trips, good (free) snorkeling, horse riding, and waterfalls!|There are quite a few comfortable options for sitting on the beach in the shade under the palm trees, or watching the beautiful sunsets, including upright chairs, and beach loungers, even swing seats and hammocks! The waiters will bring food and drinks to you while you enjoy the beach! |The restaurant food was absolutely excellent and we ate a lot of meals there. We partook in taco night on a Tuesday and on Wednesday and Saturday enjoyed their barbecue night very much. The meat and fish were fresh and tender, prepared and seasoned with care, served with gorgeous bright vegetables and the fruit… plentiful and delicious. Steak, lobster, chicken, shrimp, Mahi-Mahi… we ate it ALL! The tacos were awesome. We loved every meal and savoured leftovers. |The staff became friends fast, and we can’t wait to see Gabby, Oscar, Joshua, Genarro, Elena and all the others next time!|The beach is sandy and gorgeous, the ocean warm, and there is good snorkeling at both ends! Trust me, you want to be here.

The two different hotel rooms I stayed in were clean and very nice (no balcony though, so to dry your bathing suit it's best to hang it in the room and turn the fan up). They provide good sized towels to bring to the beach. The beach facilities were good (chairs, a couple hammocks - though not enough that it becomes crowded, which was lovely)! The surrounding area was quite peaceful as well. However, I found that the prices are rather high, given that breakfast was not included.
