Hotel El Velero

Little gem in Playa Hermosa ! This is a nice place to stay while visiting Playa Hermosa. The location is great, and with a small pool/ outdoor area that sits on the beach in a lovely palm lined cove. Our room was not large, but quiet, clean with strong shower, and the A/C worked well. We had a most delicious dinner here with some of the best fresh grilled fish I have ever had. There is a separate private parking area for guests, and the staff were friendly. I would stay here again.

This place is amazing! My husband and 10yr daughter had a wonderful time. Everything from the staff/location/rooms and food is 100% top notch! If you are looking to relax and enjoy a beach atmosphere then this is the place for you. The beach is quiet and the water is super warm and loads of fun to boogie board on (which hotel supplies). But the waves are not too crazy so you can just hangout in them too. Bar-B-Q night is the best! The rooms are beautiful The staff 2nd to none and are so friendly ❤️. The pool is perfect. In our opinion it's the best spot in the while beach!

The two different hotel rooms I stayed in were clean and very nice (no balcony though, so to dry your bathing suit it's best to hang it in the room and turn the fan up). They provide good sized towels to bring to the beach. The beach facilities were good (chairs, a couple hammocks - though not enough that it becomes crowded, which was lovely)! The surrounding area was quite peaceful as well. However, I found that the prices are rather high, given that breakfast was not included.

We loved this hotel! It is extremely clean and right on the gorgeous beach! The restaurant, staffed by wonderful, friendly folks, is right on the beach. The rooms have strong AC and are very comfortable and quiet. Eduardo at Reception was very helpful in helping us select activities and even booked me a massage (check out Ellie and Gloriana's beach/hotel massage for a treat!). The pool is clean and was very popular with children staying at the hotel.

Great hotel on the beach with small pool, great restaurant and the best bar/wait staff. Room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. You can't beat their location. Enjoyed eating right at the edge of the beach with the waves crashing 100yarda away. Everyone was helpful, friendly and made you feel welcome.

Return visit and though ownership has changed, familiar faces remain on staff, as well as traditions such as bbq and taco nights. The beach chair situation has improved with plenty in shady spots and service by the beach. Nice to hear the roar of the surf as it rounds the bay's crescent, especially at night. Aqua sport and Ronald's next door |are good dining alternates and cooling off in the 28 degree ocean surf was lots of fun.|The hotel arrange early morning transport to the airport for us.

The hotel is right-sized for being right on the beach. Great location! Great bar! Loved to lounge in the shade and look at the beautiful ocean. Loved boogie boarding and body surfing. Felt very safe in the water. Sandy bottom. Because the beach was so secluded, it felt like our private beach. We would definitely go back again!! If you stay here, plan on at least one dinner at Ginger in Playa Hermosa!!

My wife and I were delighted, when we arrived earlier this month for our third stay at Hotel El Velero, to find our amigas and amigos still there; we also enjoyed making some new friends.  We are grateful to Gabriella, Eduardo, Joshua, Genaro, Oscar, Julio, Elena, and Adrian for all of their kindness and helpfulness throughout our stay.  We also always enjoy, of course, the beautiful beachfront  setting, our comfortable room, and the delicious breakfasts (we choose from among the many offerings, scrambled eggs, Gallo Pinto, tortilla, sour cream, local cheese, plantains, and coffee), afternoon fruit smoothies, dinners (fish filet, shrimp with rice) with beer and cocktails, and desserts (scrumptious brownie with ice cream).|We hope to return later this year, and we recommend to others enthusiastically this, our favorite Playa Hermosa lodging!|(One thing more: We have been fortunate twice to see/hear a very talented singer/guitarist, Laura Jimenez, who performs weekly at El Velero during dinner: If you have an opportunity to enjoy one of these wonderful dinnertime performances, we urge you not to miss it!)|
