Hotel Elefant

Stayed few nights with friends. Easy taxi ride from airport (20-30 Euro). Friendly and helpful reception and slightly quirky hotel - mainly due to artworks and stuff, but not weird. Small lift but adequate. Rooms we had were economy but plenty of space. Bathroom pokey and shower - well, more of a floor spray, but hot. Would not suit those of a larger frame perhaps. Maybe some rooms have better ones or baths. Wouldn’t book this hotel for the views, but easy to walk out to all major attractions. Breakfast varied and service good and reasonably priced. There’s a restaurant next door which looked popular, but you cannot just get a drink. No bar in hotel. We liked the hotel and it suited us and would largely recommend.

Absolutely great experience at Hotel Elefant. Wonderful location in central old town, and super walkable. Staff was friendly, and went above and beyond to be helpful. The rooms had AC too, which in the summer, after staying at a lot of hotels without AC, was a god send. Rooms were clean and well equipped. One of my favorite parts of the hotel was honestly walking up and down the stairs (although there IS and elevator) because they had wonderful art and sketches. So cool! They were also bale to hold our luggage for the day. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends or family.

Hotel Elefant is a lovely and spacious boutique hotel in an unbeatable location—steps from the best of Salzburg’s Old Town. Our room was large, with charming smaller adjoining spaces, making it feel more like a suite than a standard hotel room.||The bathroom and shower were excellent—modern, clean, and well-appointed. That said, we wished there had been a coffee maker in the room for early mornings or late-night wind-downs.||One thing to note: parking is a bit tricky. The hotel’s website provides driving directions, but when we called, we were told we had to park in the Altstadt Parkgaragen A or B and walk in with our luggage—something worth planning for if you’re arriving by car.||Despite that, the overall experience was very positive. If you want style, comfort, and access to everything Salzburg has to offer, Hotel Elefant is a great choice.

Great location in beautiful Salzburg. The hotel has the typically small lobby and tiny elevator, but the rooms are great. I've stayed in rooms 409 and 411 and both seemed big for the area and very well maintained (clean and nicely renovated\decorated). Everything worked great and the bed\furniture was quite comfortable.

The service and furnishings are closer to a 2 star hotel- the room felt bare and dark, and the bathroom claustrophobic. The location being directly across one of the main entrances into old town meant trash trucks coming around 6am every few days and making loud noises for half an hour. The property relies on its central location for business and doesn’t seem to care about providing guests with a warm and hospitable stay.

You certainly expect more staying in a superior double room in a 4 star hotel. 2 stars would be more appropriate. |We missed the following items normally provided:|Coffee machine|Soap and conditioner in the shower, only shampoo provided|Complimentory water|Body lotion|Morning gowns|Some kind of decoration on walls, only boring gray paint|Quality towels, cheap and thin provided |Shoe shining machine in corridor||Good beds and excellent location though

When you step out of this place, you are immediately surrounded by history. While on an EU tour of multiple countries, and cities, Hotel Elefant stood out as a charming and comfortable respite from the corporate hotels that ruled most of our trip. In Old Town, steps from Mozart and excellent dining, this 400 year inn was a truly excellent jumping off point to explore Salzburg. The entirety of Old Town is walking distance, public transit and tour buses are blocks away at worst. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room, although small was modernized and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The only challenge on our visit was the elevator might have once been a broom closet- however, I like to use stairs anyway, so no big deal.

Excellent location in the old town. Actually the oldest hotel in Salzburg, but unfortunately it has been internally renovated to bland corporate, which was disappointing. However, rooms were comfortable and clean and staff welcoming. Would recommend for it's location alone.

If you want a place to stay in Salzburg that is conveniently located, clean, comfortable, and charming, Hotel Elefant is the place for you. In addition to all of those things, customer service is beyond compare. My husband inadvertently booked our stay a month late. When the alert manager quickly spotted that the date was different from those of our travel companions, he promptly called us in the U.S. to point out the discrepancy and help us get things sorted, avoiding a potential travel disaster. When we arrived at the hotel, i discovered I had left our lone electrical adapter behind in Germany, meaning we had no way to charge our phones. The manager kindly allowed us to borrow one, again averting a travel crisis. We cannot say enough good things about this lovely hotel and its thoughtful staff. H

Hotel Elefant is a wonderful place to stay in Old Salzburg. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and VERY CLEAN. The location is ideal, close to everything. The breakfast offers are also very good. We would highly recommend this hotel when in Salzburg.

My review is only for the restaurant, as we did not stay here. This hotel is very well-located right in the center of everything and just steps from dining, shopping, and most of the main attractions of the city. We sat outside for lunch and enjoyed beef goulash and traditional spaetzel. Both were sooo good. The beef on my fiancee's dish was moist and delicious, served with a potato/bread dumpling and by spaetzel came with crunchy onions as a garnish and a delicious fresh green salad. Several other things on the menu looked great, I could've come back here a few times! Service was prompt and polite with minimal wait on food, to order, and to settle the check. Big plus.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is in the middle of tourist area, but not on a crazy busy street. It was close to all kinds of shopping and sights. I didn't have to get a cab at all to get to everything I wanted to see. The room (single) was small but sufficient and comfy. I loved that you could actually open the window and see down the little street. The bathroom was also small, but sufficient. The room was immaculately clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They let me check in early and offered to call me a cab when I checked out. They answered my tourist questions and never talked down to me. If I ever go back to Salzburg, I will definitely stay there again.

Really amazing hotel - historic, upscale, beautiful, clean, friendly staff, good wifi, and delicious breakfast included. And it's in a perfect location to be able to sightsee throughout the historic area of Salzburg on foot. We would love to stay here again some day.

We booked an oversize room and it turned out to be exactly that as european hotel rooms tend to be a little small. The staff at the desk are great and speak good english. The location here is prefect for exploring the city, just make sure to call ahead and get directions to the parking garage as it is in the pedestrian area...the parking us ?11 a day even though the garage charges ?14 a day. You pay at the hotel, not the garage to get the discount. If we ever come back to salzburg we will be staying here. the only complaint I have is that the wifi signal is very weak.

Hotel Elefant was absolutely lovely. We managed to be in Salzburg on (what seemed to be) the one day when EVERYTHING was closed, but our hotel made up for it. All of the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The location absolutely cannot be beat, and the room itself was very nice and clean. I would definitely recommend Hotel Elefant to anyone going to Salzburg, and if we decide to go back, we will absolutely stay here again.

Very pleasant, very quiet, terrific location. Room was a little small, but very attractive and clean, and bathroom had magnificent Euro-plumbing! Desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast included. Wi-fi is a little weak but we should be out exploring the city, right?
