Hotel Elefant

This review is just for the service, as we didn't stay there. My wife and I walked in hoping to charge our phone for a few minutes (digital tickets!), and Mohammed at the reception was so kind to let us use a charger from his treasure box of collected chargers. This interaction gave us enough of a glimpse into what kind of an establishment this is. During this time we experienced the kind hospitality from Mohammed, saw him attend to incoming guests courteously, and also saw that this hotel has been decorated quite tastefully - and is rather clean. Just a brief glimpse and we are now making plans to stay here on our next trip to Salzburg!

We stayed for two nights while touring central Europe. The location in the Altstadt is perfect - easy access to all you want to see and to restaurants. Just a 5-10 minute bus ride from the station. We stayed in the Hotel Elefant part. The view was mostly rooftops - it was nice. The room ("executive") was spacious - and bit more furniture could have been fitted in. All spotlessly clean. Slept well. Very friendly service and the reasonable breakfast. Recommended.

Nice hotel close to the city sites of Salzburg. Accommodations were clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet was good as well. The only thing you have to look out for is getting to the hotel by car - it's difficult if you do not know where you are going - narrow streets. Take the hotel advice and park at the local garage which is about 10 min walk from hotel - they also give you better parking price as well.

The location of the hotel is perfect, you can reach all important locations in the old city by feet. The hotel itself is fine, clean, and adequate breakfast, but nothing special. Only minor topic is that the restaurant is not part of the hotel, it was outsourced and it is not possible to make reservations in the hotel itself, and the restaurant doesn’t care at all if you are a hotel guest or not to prioritize reservations. Not a major issue, but a small but..

The location is prime, right in the heart of the old town. The staff from managers, receptionist, cooks, and cleaning staff were all extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic with great variety and delicious. There is a restaurant attached next door serving up some of Salzburg’s best food and beer so you don’t haven’t go far to experience the divine taste of this city. I would 100% recommend and is worth every penny.

Absolutely great experience at Hotel Elefant. Wonderful location in central old town, and super walkable. Staff was friendly, and went above and beyond to be helpful. The rooms had AC too, which in the summer, after staying at a lot of hotels without AC, was a god send. Rooms were clean and well equipped. One of my favorite parts of the hotel was honestly walking up and down the stairs (although there IS and elevator) because they had wonderful art and sketches. So cool! They were also bale to hold our luggage for the day. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends or family.

The service and furnishings are closer to a 2 star hotel- the room felt bare and dark, and the bathroom claustrophobic. The location being directly across one of the main entrances into old town meant trash trucks coming around 6am every few days and making loud noises for half an hour. The property relies on its central location for business and doesn’t seem to care about providing guests with a warm and hospitable stay.

Read the review from the Boyd’s. This situation could have so easily been corrected. The front desk made a mistake on check-in telling her she did NOT have bkfst included, I heard her ask and was told no and then was billed for it. We were there for bkfst each morning and know they did NOT eat and yet were charged. We’ve both contacted them and they are making no attempt to admit their error or correct the situation. Watch your bills! 150.00 euros is a lot!

If you want a place to stay in Salzburg that is conveniently located, clean, comfortable, and charming, Hotel Elefant is the place for you. In addition to all of those things, customer service is beyond compare. My husband inadvertently booked our stay a month late. When the alert manager quickly spotted that the date was different from those of our travel companions, he promptly called us in the U.S. to point out the discrepancy and help us get things sorted, avoiding a potential travel disaster. When we arrived at the hotel, i discovered I had left our lone electrical adapter behind in Germany, meaning we had no way to charge our phones. The manager kindly allowed us to borrow one, again averting a travel crisis. We cannot say enough good things about this lovely hotel and its thoughtful staff. H

Hotel Elefant is a wonderful place to stay in Old Salzburg. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and VERY CLEAN. The location is ideal, close to everything. The breakfast offers are also very good. We would highly recommend this hotel when in Salzburg.

My review is only for the restaurant, as we did not stay here. This hotel is very well-located right in the center of everything and just steps from dining, shopping, and most of the main attractions of the city. We sat outside for lunch and enjoyed beef goulash and traditional spaetzel. Both were sooo good. The beef on my fiancee's dish was moist and delicious, served with a potato/bread dumpling and by spaetzel came with crunchy onions as a garnish and a delicious fresh green salad. Several other things on the menu looked great, I could've come back here a few times! Service was prompt and polite with minimal wait on food, to order, and to settle the check. Big plus.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is in the middle of tourist area, but not on a crazy busy street. It was close to all kinds of shopping and sights. I didn't have to get a cab at all to get to everything I wanted to see. The room (single) was small but sufficient and comfy. I loved that you could actually open the window and see down the little street. The bathroom was also small, but sufficient. The room was immaculately clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They let me check in early and offered to call me a cab when I checked out. They answered my tourist questions and never talked down to me. If I ever go back to Salzburg, I will definitely stay there again.

Really amazing hotel - historic, upscale, beautiful, clean, friendly staff, good wifi, and delicious breakfast included. And it's in a perfect location to be able to sightsee throughout the historic area of Salzburg on foot. We would love to stay here again some day.

We booked an oversize room and it turned out to be exactly that as european hotel rooms tend to be a little small. The staff at the desk are great and speak good english. The location here is prefect for exploring the city, just make sure to call ahead and get directions to the parking garage as it is in the pedestrian area...the parking us ?11 a day even though the garage charges ?14 a day. You pay at the hotel, not the garage to get the discount. If we ever come back to salzburg we will be staying here. the only complaint I have is that the wifi signal is very weak.

Hotel Elefant was absolutely lovely. We managed to be in Salzburg on (what seemed to be) the one day when EVERYTHING was closed, but our hotel made up for it. All of the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The location absolutely cannot be beat, and the room itself was very nice and clean. I would definitely recommend Hotel Elefant to anyone going to Salzburg, and if we decide to go back, we will absolutely stay here again.

Very pleasant, very quiet, terrific location. Room was a little small, but very attractive and clean, and bathroom had magnificent Euro-plumbing! Desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast included. Wi-fi is a little weak but we should be out exploring the city, right?
