Elena de Cobre (León, Guanajuato) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"You rarely find the solid straight lines of Brutalism rubbing shoulders with the old-school charm of a colonial mansion, but once you step inside Elena de Cobre, suddenly it all makes sense. Original 19th-century features are still intact – think ornate mosaic floors and sun-dappled courtyards – while the modern copper extension brings up-to-date comforts and stylings. Among the 19 guestrooms, carbon-copy design gives way to suites with their own distinct character, like the Copper Bathtubs Suite where you can enjoy a soak on your private terrace." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel was terrible!! If you are considering staying at this hotel, seriously reconsider it. This hotel passes itself off as "Boutique Hotel with a lot of amenities" but in reality, you'd be better off staying at the Hilton Garden Inn (which I also stayed at), which does offer the amenities it touts on its website, and you'd be getting better service as well.||My friends and I were looking forward to go to this hotel and get a nice night of rest, as we had travelled there from San Miguel de Allende and were departing very early the next morning (03:00 a.m.). Upon arrival at the hotel, it seemed a bit strange that we entered through a garage instead of a main entrance. We checked in and went to our room. The toilet had only one roll of toilet paper, of which there was only 1/4 left. No more toilet paper. We were three people in that room (we were charged for the third person)—The room, very average for the expensive price. There were no Q-tips, and very bare bones. In addition, it had a very strange kind of drain odour. My friends and I thought it would be a good ideal to have a light dinner at the hotel bar, so we would not have to go out. When we arrived at the hotel bar, they informed us that they could not serve wine, only hard liquor (tequila, etc.) as they did not have a license to sell wine. Really???! They had 4 or 5 employees there doing nothing in the bar, just standing around looking at their mobiles. No wine at at this fancy, boutique hotel?? My friends and I then decided to go out and get something to eat. We were so hungry, that we would have chewed our arms off. Being that it was a Sunday night, that proved to be difficult. There weren't many places open and we wound up eating at a Taco restaurant.||For the cost, this hotel is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. In fact, I would be surprised if they stay in business. This hotel is poorly run for the well-heeled and tired traveler and does not deserve to be part of the Marriott Brand. I regret having spent my money and time at this hotel. It truly was a very disappointing experience. Hopefully, I can save someone the same level of deep disappointment.

This hard-to-find, obscure building, in an area of beautiful and historical cobble stone, narrow streets and ornate centuries old buildings is a deficient wanna-be Boutique Hotel – just good for overnight stay and want no amenities – and I do mean, no amenities. It offers a beautifully appointed and designed, old fashion-style lobby and bar called the ‘the Wine Cellar’, but no bartender or server available to offer beverages… of any kind… not even soda/water machines or snacks. The rooms are cozy but cramped – you also need training on how to turn on/off the air conditioning unit – which we had to request from the limited night staff! It has an immense rooftop setting you can view the city from in every direction, but no seating, no bar, no tables, no ashtray – they call it ‘La Terraza’. It has an old-world narrow alley with unkempt garden with a narrow pool that was not inviting to try. We regularly stay over many accommodations across and occasionally outside the country, and although not a professional hotel reviewer, and not a regular business traveler - but primarily a pleasure and needs wanderer, I have established as what I believe is a concise system for scoring the merit of the hotel visited. I really had a hard time making my assessments here, as my Wife and I have never experienced this sort of stay anywhere, to date. My measures are as follows and the results are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score:2]; 2) convenient and safe parking [Score:0]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score:4]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score:2.5]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, Concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor of staff [Score:3]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities (i.e., ironing board, iron, TV, charging access, phone, et.al.) and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe and/or valet services [Score:3.5]; Taking all the aforementioned categories in a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates a: 2.5. The lowest review I have ever made to date. Most positive point at this hotel is it is near the center of town – short walking distance. Most negative points found here are my previously noted points. My price to value to overall assessment: nil at most, not a place I would be looking to stay at again, ever.

The hotel is quite nice but it stops there. We stayed two nights in the middle of the week. Unfortunately we couldn’t use the bar or restaurant, I guess because there was no employees. 😩. We went out one evening and came back early evening only to find we couldn’t get in the property. Rang the bell for 15 minutes outside and finally the security came to let us in. Oscar at the front desk was MIA. I wish I could have rated this hotel better because it’s a nice place, however I felt I was shorted as I only could use the sleeping quarters.

Stayed two nights here in the middle of the week. The hotel itself is quite nice but it falls short of five stars. Only the front check in and security on staff, no one working in the restaurant or bar. What a shame because it’s really nice but no one working 😩. We left the went out for the first evening and when we came back we couldn’t get I to the property after ringing the bell for 15 minutes. Apparently Oscar who was on duty was MIA according to the security guard. Additionally the lights went out in the bathroom permanently which was annoying. Overall it’s a nice place but just wish they would have considered that guest want want to use other parts of the hotel other than just the sleeping rooms.

This hotel was new when I stayed. I inadvertently booked the room with the private pool. This was used during the stay!!! And was great. The room was spacious and facilities excellent! The views were good but I’m not sure whether I’d say that Leon is really a city for panoramic views! ||The restaurant was exceptional and catered for vegetarian and vegan and the chef personally greeted us. Such a pleasure to stay here

We selected this hotel from the Marriott Bonvoy app as the hotel was a member of the Hotel Design group. We did not read the reviews, we just accepted the Marriott affiliation to be sufficient. First off, this place is sold as a hotel; however, it would be best described as a high end bed and breakfast. While we loved it, there is no restaurant on site which is a granted aspect of hotels. The room package we picked included breakfast which was delicious. We say b&b because there is no menu. We were asked what we wanted to eat. We had choices, fruits, yogurt, waffles (frozen/toasted types), eggs, chilaquiles, fruit juices, and coffee. We picked fruits and yogurt, and waffles. All of it was excellent! Coffee is strong and delicious. What makes this place special is the staff. Rosalia and Karla at the front desk were very helpful and shared information about the area with us. Mario shared some of his favourite restaurants and offered to bring chairs to the roof top for us if we wanted to sit there for a sunset. The breakfast staff was absolutely fantastic and catered to our needs. Thank you! A note on the bar. While there is a bar, it is not staffed. Front desk clerks work double duty and will accommodate requests for drinks. We only asked for ice cubes in glasses to bring back to our room and that was done with a smile by Karla. Also a bit of history about the property that gives some context on the services offered. This property used to be named Hotel Emiliano. It opened in 2017 or so and was regarded as a high end hotel with a high end restaurant. There are some pictures in a book in the hotel lobby of the before and after of the construction. At opening, the cost for a night stay started at $4200.00 pesos. To put thing in perspective, the current price is less than half of that. The location is two and half blocks from the city centre or centro historico jardin. Zona Piel is a $60.00 pesos Uber ride away. The room was as expected. Two beds, clean sheets, comfortable mattresses, good water pressure in the shower and nice linen. Of note, the hairdryer is not useful for anyone with longer hair than 2 inches.

Beware. This hotel looks great in the online photos, but you will probably be sorely disappointed upon arrival. There is no restaurant, the bar is closed, they will not serve you a beverage or snack of any kind in the common areat. In fact, the entire lobby/restaurant area is dark and looks as if the hotel is closed for business. The rooftop area has nothing going on. It has 2 swings and some seats, but it is basically closed, as well, aside from the fact that you cannot get any drinks, etc. up there. Also, don't be fooled by the two photos of the one patio with a small pool and the other with twin soaking tubs. Those are only for whoever rents those rooms. The swimming pool photographs nicely, but it is practically unusable; there are no lounge chairs, only a few wooden chairs placed in awkward spaces; it is impossible to have a good pool experience there. All of that being said, the rooms are pretty good - super comfy pillow top mattress with good comforter (though bad-fittimg bottom sheets), great towels, nice shower, new/high quality sink & toilet, a safe, nice dark wood cubicles for storage. Some spots in the room are a little rough around the edges, though no major abrasions. But overall the hotel is Deadsville with NO services I repeat NO services. You can get breakfast ONLY if it's part of your room rate. For the price, which is seemingly reasonable for such a cool-looking, historic, funky property, you will get no services, and even the staff is not helpful and doesn't seem to know what's going on. Great location, though.

We found this hotel through the Bonvoy app, I was able to book using points without a problem. This boutique hotel is amazing. The rooms have been decorated with a lot of care, overall design is great and the staff extremely courteous. The restaurant is a gem, I have no idea why it has not been featured in travel or fine dining blogs.
