Perfect location! Close to great bars and restaurants. Staff were helpful and even froze our ice packs for the night. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms clean with heated tile floors. We will definitely be back! Loved the rooftop!

Pros: the location is great Cons: this whole place is one giant con. The room was filthy and incredibly run-down. It looks nothing like the photos on the website. We had a view of a parking lot, spider webs everywhere, someone else’s blood and hair in the bathroom. The hallways smell musty and the carpets are deeply stained. I’m appalled this kind of accommodation would even be offered to guests, let alone at the price they’re charging. I say AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Nothing about it, even the great location or the rooftop deck or the heated floors (that will be cracked and filthy anyway) are worth it. Oh and the air conditioning is a noisy, old floor unit with a hose taped to the window. Just so disgusting.

A nice looking old hotel with room on the small side. It was important that we had an elevator, but we still had to wrangle the luggage cart ourselves. Aside from that, we enjoyed the town and had a restful sleep. Breakfast did not look like anything special.

Heated bathroom floors, people! Everything they could update in this building, they have done it. The staff are super courteous the place is located in the center of everything. Water pressure is good. The only thing that would have been better was the sheets. They were thin but soft none the less.

Parking on the weekend especially is atrocious as there’s a market and you can’t park on the Main Street. We got there and couldn’t check in because house keeping “called out” and they were late in getting the rooms ready. 4pm is already a late check in but now add an hour and a half to that. All this on a Saturday when you’d expect a lot of business. Paying $450 a night and getting a 5:30 check in is absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this hotel and stick to other locations or even the chain hotels.

Everything worked, beds were comfortable, breakfast was decent, lots of great amenities within a couple of blocks. Parking was challenging on the weekend; had to walk a few blocks one night. Tap water was very good. Rooftop patio with great view

Ideally located for exploring fun Astoria Oregon. One block from the main walking streets and two from the riverwalk pathway and antique trolley. The hotel is in good shape- the lighting, hardware , and finishes are middle-of-the-road. Not authentic. Breakfast is fuel and plain. However, the roof-top deck is superb.

It's ok. On the south side of the building there is some machinery that will kick on that has a horrible high pitched whine that will drive you insane at night. I think it's the main AC for the building or something Each room has a small portable AC unit which can be pretty loud if you use it, but that noise from outside is the worst. I don't know maybe it's coming from another guests AC unit. There was zero traffic noise or crowd noise. My second night here it was quite cold and that outside machine screaming didn't occur almost all night and everything was peaceful. The windows don't seal much I can feel a draft when your get near them, they are very rusted and don't close tightly. There was scaffolding outside our room and appears that they will be replacing the windows soon. The rest of the building looks pretty nice they did good work remodeling. The bed is ok, it's not super soft but not too hard either. I have a purple mattress at home so it would be rare for a hotel to compare to that The parking is abysmal, but apparently Astoria doesn't want to install a parking structure, the hotel doesn't have dedicated parking and much of the parking is 2 or 3 hour until after 6pm . So it's a pain, I didn't know this ahead of time. The breakfast was.. Not good. My first day they had these egg "patties" and pieces of ham and some hash brown patties (which were the best of all of it). Even though the containers said 160 degrees the food was all cold. They have a microwave there so I guess you could warm stuff up in that but I was pretty disappointed in how things were cold so I left to get food somewhere else. Only the hash browns were decent but you can't really mess those up. The egg "discs" were not good, far too eggy, and cold. I would have preferred they just make scrambled eggs, I know you can get that as a powder even.. The next day they had biscuits and gravy and they were good. This town is not an early town though so even at 7am your other choices will be limited. The front desk staff were very friendly and responsive to needs and helping navigate the town The room has a small fridge and microwave. I unplugged the fridge most nights because it too made a high pitched whine when running. The television works fine but it's basic cable and there is no guide. I imagine most people use their phone for entertainment now anyway The location is right in the middle of town so it's easy to walk to many things, shops, restaurants, and you can see the ocean from my room (4th floor) and see the bridge and ships, pretty nice view If you get a chance you need to go to on to the roof, they have a rooftop terrace and the view is amazing!

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Elliott in late September 2024. The breakfast in the morning felt like we were eating in someone's private dining room. Our room was very comfortable, well appointed & we slept great! If you go, check out the game room in the basement & the fantastic roof deck. Highly recommended!!

Mely S.

Yelp
Spent one night at this hotel, and it did not disappoint. The hotel kept a lot of their vintage life, but had enough upgrades to spend a comfortable night. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the room was huge. It was almost the equivalent of a two bedroom. The bed was comfortable, and so where the pillows. The heated floor in the bathroom was definitely a plus. I wasn't too trilled about their breakfast food but they had plenty of options for coffee syrups and teas. The location is great and there were plenty of restaurants and bars around.

Yelp
This is our go to stay in Astoria. It's unique and centrally located. If the weather is nice enough, take advantage of the roof top!

Yelp
My husband and I booked the Elliot for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We stayed for two nights in the Executive Suite. I booked the hotel because the location is unbeatable if you want to be able to walk around and visit the bars and breweries in town for an affordable price. As a bonus we checked out on Sunday so we got to also hit up the farmer's market! The hotel is nicely updated while still maintaining it's original charms. There is only one elevator, of which both the cleaning staff and guests use, so at times it can take a minute or two for the elevator to arrive, never too long to be a bother though. Every single hotel staff member we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful when needed. The front desk was able to answer our questions and help guide us where to park since we were staying until the day of the farmers market and certain roads would be shutdown. You would think this would have been a bother, but it wasn't a big deal at all and we had zero issues parking thanks to their guidance. Our room was lovely. Exactly as pictured on their website with no surprises. The bed was comfortable too. I normally have issues sleeping away from home, but didn't have any issues sleeping at the Elliot. The bathtub was massive and the bathroom's heated tiles were a nice touch. We stayed on a weekend that was hot one day and cold the next so we used the AC one night and the fireplace another. Both worked wonderfully. There is a pool table, and gym, neither of which we got a chance to use. We did however get a chance to enjoy the rooftop lounge area which had a fantastic view of both the city and the water. We went up one morning and enjoyed mimosas that we made in our room, the next morning it was closed due to rain. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at this hotel. I will say something I thought of while eating breakfast was that the breakfast options are great for us, but our kids wouldn't have enjoyed it. They only offer the bland oats type cereal, no bagels just English muffins, toast, etc. and then eggs, fruit, and a meat item. Our kids would prefer more kid friendly cereal for breakfast. That's not a crazy important thing to mention, but I did in the event someone reading my review is bringing their kids and needs to plan for these things. All in all we had a fantastic stay and plan on staying at the Elliot every time we visit Astoria, OR.

Yelp
This hotel is renovated so nicely and the staff was fantastic. We checked in with Trish. We also met with Ingrid in the wine bar. They are fantastic and we will stay here again right next to the Sunday market.

John A.

Yelp
Even though our room faced a side-street, we weren't fussing. The side-street view was still nice. We looked out on the hills behind the town and enjoyed the sight. The room was quaint and very comfortable. What I really enjoyed was the lobby dining room (breakfast) and the rooftop terrace where we enjoyed a bottle of wine while warmed by the natural gas fireplace. There was a glass wall around the terrace that let us see the wonderful view but also blocked some of the cold breeze coming from the ocean. I bought one of the white coffee cups with the HE logo on the last day of our stay. I still drink daily coffee out of it every morning, years later. We lived in Ky for a year, the whole time I was longing to return to live in the PNW so we could come back to Astoria and stay at the Hotel Elliot. I may not have described some of the memorable feelings we have about the hotel but all of them are warm. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Hotel is a nicely remodeled to historical period hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our room was extremely quiet snd the bed was very comfortable. Pandemic restrictions made things a bit awkward, not any fault of the hotel. The wine bar was closed and the included morning breakfast was served as a pick up and take to your room. I understand with the price range of this hotel that I would not be expecting a gourmet breakfast experience and the pandemic restrictions made providing a take to your room bagged meal a difficult proposition for the business. However, the choices offered in the way of boxed cereal, cellophane wrapped muffins and instant oatmeal( although it was Bobs Red Mill oatmeal) left us feeling that a little more effort and thought could have made it a lot less cheap seeming. All in all, Hotel Elliot provided a nice experience!

Yelp
Our go-to place to stay in Astoria. Beautiful hotel and rooms. Conveniently located to everything with parking. Super comfortable beds and very clean and comfortable rooms. Suite 407 is wonderful. The only very minor complaint is the quality of their coffee. Really not drinkable, but other than that, it's a great place to stay.

Yelp
What an awesome discovery for us: --wonderful beds (they mean it) --quiet rooms --heated, tiled bathroom floors --rooftop garden, viewing and sitting areas, complete with glass walls for comfort and amazing views --wine bar --small fireplace in our room --microwave/ refrigerator in our room --beautiful, historic building --friendly, efficient staff --decent coffee / continental breakfast --reasonable prices We came to Astoria on whim and decided to stay the night in the heart of historic downtown. We had a blast, and I'm confident that we'll be back for more of this awesome hotel.

Yelp
I loved most things about this hotel: the location & walkability, the old time charm, the rooftop terrace, the nice breakfast and staff. But there were a few downsides: there's no parking and there's time limits for street parking, which is not great if you plan to park and walk everywhere. The bed was so firm it hurt my back and hips, but I sleep on a tempurpedic at home. The air conditioning unit in our room was a portable unit and the hose came detached from the vent during the night causing the room to overheat. Overall, the good outweighed the bad. The parking situation was enough to remedy by parking a few blocks up the hill in a no time limit zone. However, having to walk that far would make it a nightmare to travel with my toddler and all of her gear.

Yelp
A quaint and historic building in downtown Astoria, the Hotel Elliott was fairly nice. It's a boutique hotel so it may not be as fancy as chain ones. First of all, the location can not be beat. It's central to everything. Parking was confusing as I couldn't find information on their website prior to arrival. There's a public lot next to it that offers free all-day parking EXCEPT on Sundays because of the market. Street parking is available everywhere, but there is a 2-hour limit from 9 until 6. Doing a bit of quick math, you can park on the street from 4 in the evening until 11 in the morning. The building is old and the rooms are small, but they did some updates in the rooms. There's heat and a roll-around cooling unit. Water pressure was great in the shower and they featured Aveda bath products! Even though the bed was comfortable, I wished they had better pillows. It's one of my pet peeves when hotels have pillows with loose filling that move to the sides. One is too flat and too is two tall. There is just no way to adjust it; moving the filling around is an exercise in futility as it always winds up on either side of my head by morning. I just end up with a crick in my neck. One thing they can add is a convenient bedside AC or USB plug. There was a wall plug but I would've had to move the bed away from the wall by 6 inches to use it. From the balcony, you can take in the town. I saw from the signs that it's opened for events and service during certain times of the year. Breakfast in the morning was good. During my stay, there was eggs Benedict, hash brown potato patties, cinnamon rolls, assorted mini-boxed cereals, yogurt and fresh whole fruit. 3.5 rounded to 4.

Yelp
I was a very lucky winner in 2019 of a special Instagram contest by the Chamber of Commerce of Astoria. The grand prize was a gift folder with a free night stay at the Elliot. I stayed here last June for my mother's birthday. I am so glad to have won this celebration for my mother and I. Normally I typically stay at chain hotels due to credit card award program point systems. I would have never thought about staying here because of this. I absolutely loved our stay. The only downfall is street parking. We were able to find good parking though that was close. Our room was older and the bathroom was a bit small, but we did have a lovely view of the city and river. The highlight of the stay was seeing the secret rooftop deck which had beautiful views of the town. I also enjoyed our breakfast in the lobby. You can request what you want at check-in and pick it up the next morning. The room stay prices are reasonable, and definitely cheaper on the off seasons. I am so grateful for this stay and really enjoyed it. It was a relaxing place to stay for a night. So Wonderful

Yelp
NEVER fails to impress. Clean, fun, great location, really nice staff. This place hits all the notes. Stay here and feel like you are truly on vacation.

Yelp
We arrived at the hotel Elliott late around 10pm, after traveling all day we were exhausted and ready to rest. We parked right upfront and called to check on availability only to be told they have 2 NIGHT MINIMUM stay that is STRICTLY ENFORCED. It was the only hotel within the 30 miles radius that had rooms available. One would think customers service and guest accommodation would be a higher priority than a simple rule as well as having having income for one night is better than nothing. We called the next day and spoke with a very unapologetic manager, we will never consider or recommend this place to anyone. We will make to spread the word.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Beautiful historic hotel in Astoria with amazing service, awesome comfortable beds and super cute rooms. We stayed in room 501, a jacuzzi suite, for a quick romantic getaway in February and the stay was amazing! Even during COVID the staff was super friendly, the hotel was immaculate and despite the local riff raff and rude fellow guests who think their immune to public health policy everyone on staff kept a positive attitude and was exceptional. The beds really are awesome too!

Ken F.

Yelp
Ok I will preface this by saying we rolled into town during Covid and the hotel was just getting back on it's feet... Their Covid policies were well, confusing at best... We got in at 1:45, clearly too early for check-in, but every single hotel in Oregon was able to accommodate our sometimes early arrival (we were on motorcycles and never new what the road would throw at us). We asked if we could check-in early.. No. We asked if we could then at least leave our gear there.. No. We asked if we could at least use the bathroom.. No. Here's their reasoning... They can't let us into the room as long as their cleaning crew was on the floor... Uh??? Ok, well if we were already guests and wanted back into our room??? Uh.. "well that's our policy" is all she could say... Ok, what about the bathroom.. "well, then we'd have to clean it again"... uh.. customer service? Hmmm ok, once in, why are there no cups in the room for a glass of water? Well, again, we wouldn't know if you touched the cups and then we'd have replace them... Uh... ok now WTH.. there was no customer service here! Seems they want their guests to bear the Covid burden, more than they do? IDK, just how it felt. Finally, when we checked in they couldn't find our Expedia reservation.. neither could I initially... I later found it and showed the desk person my reservation for $10 less per night than they charged me ($10 is not going to kill me but an agreement is an agreement)... uh no, not here.. you'll have to email this to the manager.. really? I'm showing this to you.. you don't believe me? Ok... I emailed to the manager... nothing... a week later and no credit.. All in all, a cute place in the heart of town, walking distance to everything. If you want river views there are none, but that's the trade-off... I could live with their archaic Covid rules (they originally advised it was mandated State regulations.. when I told her we'd been traveling Oregon all week, and no hotel had these policies... she said "well, it's our policy"... I'd give them 3*** if not for the not carrying enough to adjust my rate; god bless!

Lauren L.

Yelp
Cynthia at the front desk is amazing! The room is comfortably appointed. The amenities are nice. The price is reasonable. Would definitely recommend! Booking directly was better than was offered by the discount sites.

Abigail C.

Yelp
I almost hesitate to review this hotel, because it's so wonderful I fear not being able to book a room! If one is staying in Astoria, there are other choices, but no equal to the Elliott. It's a beautiful historical building, lovingly kept but modernized in a stylish manner. The rooms are quiet & comfortable, the amenities are nice, we love the rooms with jacuzzi tubs. There is a pretty decent complimentary breakfast with excellent coffee. Hot drinks of various sorts (tea/coffee/cocoa etc. are available at the desk all the time)On the weekend evenings, there is a staffed wine bar with a small but well chosen selection. The staff are all wonderful, kind & efficient folks and the front desk is staffed 24/7. (No one wants to have to call the desk at 2am, but sometimes things happen-and it is very comforting to have a human answer) What is the best thing about the Elliott, you may ask? The location. One can walk pretty much anywhere in Astoria from here, and it's a very walkable town. Shopping, restaurants, museums, breweries, & the Liberty theater is on the opposite corner! In the summer, the farmer's mkt happens on Sunday on the very same street! Oh, and the rooftop deck has one of the best views of the Columbia I know of.

Tara N.

Yelp
I'd give this place negative stars if I could. Very discourteous front desk clerk. I really needed to use the bathroom as I had an emergency. I offered to buy a glass of wine so as to be polite and not just use their bathroom. She haughtily told me the wine bar was not open and to go use the public restroom down the street (which ended up being CLOSED for maintenance). Some guy joked that I could scrub the floors. I certainly hope he was not an employee. I've always wanted to check out this hotel and and stay. Not anymore... Also, come to find out the wine bar is almost never open.

Emily A.

Yelp
Stubbled by this beautiful hotel while looking for a restroom. While we were inside we noticed there was a little wine bar & of course had to get a glass of wine and enjoy the aesthetic of the hotel. Our bartender was this beautiful outgoing soul named Ingrid - her personality made the whole experience. Ingrid was so helpful with her navigations through the city and letting us know about all the best restaurants in town. Definitely would recommend this place if you're looking for a cozy place to get warm and figure out your next move in the city !

L. M. B.

Yelp
Just 5 stars for everything about this hotel. Staff was all super friendly and pleasant. 5 star breakfast variety. 5 star beds. Super cool rooms and building. Roof top area was super chill. It was also somehow the most quiet hotel ever. I never heard any other guests while we were there. Could be because I didn't see any other kids, our son was with us but he's almost 16. It seems like whatever renovations they did included some 5 star sound proofing. Really walkable area lots to explore too. Just the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Definitely would come back.

Erica W.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel twice and it is one of the better places in Astoria but it is lacking. Not only was the queen room over $300 after taxes, there were small annoyances with the room. For example, the coffee maker didn't work and the remote couldn't be used to advance channels. This latter issue was one the front desk said happens regularly because those buttons on the remotes are used so much. Really?! If you know it's a problem, buy better remotes. The reason for two stars is because of the treatment we received after returning from our anniversary dinner. We entered the lobby, greeted the front desk staff member who was not there when we checked in earlier that day. We walked to the elevator and she asked "you two are guests here?" We replied that yet we were. She said "okay, I just didn't recognize you so I thought I would ask". I showed my room key and she said "no no I trust you" and then proceeded to talk about the rooftop garden. It was odd, uncomfortable - and potentially racist given my husband's darker skin and ethnic features. It bothered my husband enough that night that we brought it up again in the morning and said he was considering writing an email to the manager. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fine.

Lacey S.

Yelp
Cute hotel with a great location! We had a double queen bed suite for $189, not bad! It's right in the middle of downtown with tons of shops and restaurants to walk to. Nice comfy bed with fluffy pillows. We were lucky enough to be there on a sunny day so we ordered a bottle of wine from the front desk and headed up to relax on the rooftop garden. Great views! Went back up there around 9 at night to enjoy the gas fire pit but it was super dark up there, they need to add some string lights for sure. There is a continental breakfast is the morning (only from 7-9 am on the weekday so don't sleep in lol) and they had a big variety of food and drinks-yogurts, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, bagels, a fancy egg dish, hash browns and tons of juices. Check out isn't until noon which is nice :)

Yelp
After spending nearly 5ish hours, trudging through traffic of Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia, and ridiculously low speed limits on the 101 near Raymond, we finally made it... just in time to fall asleep. What we found when we got there, on a quiet Friday night in Astoria, was a throwback to the 20's, the roaring 20's that is, the gilded age of quiet hotels, with comfortable (comfy) rooms. From the outside, you'd think it was a restored hotel from that era, with the glimmer of the township lights. After checking in, which was quick, we got into the elevator, and went up. Walking down the halls, instantly made me feel like I was in those neat black and white photos of that golden era. Never mind the electronic key card readers, once we stepped in, it was good. The room was clean, bed equally so. After tossing the bedcovers, walking into bathroom, we both noticed... HEATED BATHROOM FLOOR. Okay, that's a certain "+1" on the memorable scale. Off to bed. Morning, time for our "limited continental breakfast"... which was not that limited, but rather scrambled eggs, waffles, and a fruit compote/maceration. Sure it was all probably from a box, a couple hours before, but they did a good job with the presentation, and yogurt, milk, coffee, juice, and bread products; it was a hot breakfast. It was pretty good, more than what we expected. The fitness room was limited, but that's okay, one treadmill, one elliptical, a good set of dumbbells, medicine balls, and a small fridge of water. Oh yeah, a TV also. The roof deck is a good feature, and I bet one that not many people visit. They have limited seating, but on a sunny afternoon, it's perfection. I think it's a great place to rewind, and relax. The views are good. It's in the center of town, which means, walkable to everything. On Sunday, there is a farmer's market, which is literally outside the front doors. Recommendation: worth staying, and if I end up here again, I would probably stay here.

Jo W.

Yelp
Very rude and unwelcoming front staff. Attacked for not being sensitive to 'Bobbies' health issues. Had mask on -

Gail G.

Yelp
Great location and amazing rooftop deck views!! That being said the room was a decent size with a large window air unit and decent bathroom, however mattress was so old and uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I woke up with terrible back pain. The continental breakfast was pretty good many different typical options. All in all fabulous location, nice staff but could use some bed comfort, all in all we are there to sleep!

Thomas R.

Yelp
Only the Hotel Elliott will do in Astoria. Roaring 20's elegance coupled with modern convenience equals a fine hotel that feels like home. My partner used the workout room in the basement all 3 mornings while I lounged around in the plush bathrobe that hung waiting for me on the back of the bathroom door. Did I mention the heated bathroom floor? Or the giant walk-in shower? Mmm, pure luxury! The breakfast in the lobby looked really good, although we went out every morning instead. Parking on the street was easy. So many restaurants and bars are within walking distance. We even had a view of the Astoria Column from our bedroom window. Yes, we will be back!

Paul M.

Yelp
Bed bugs!!! So, we stayed in the Presidential Suite, which retails for about $650/night. The next day, my wife noticed that she has bites all over her legs. We run it by a doctor and they confirm it is bed bugs. We know you can get them from various places, but we eliminated all other possibilities and it was definitely this hotel. The reason for the low rating is because this hotel, after we notified them and they confirmed the issue, did not feel it appropriate to even offer a partial refund. How would you like to pay hundreds of dollars for a nights stay and come away with bed bugs, a doctors visit and not even an offer of a discount on the cost of your room? I can only hope ownership reads this. We are the type of people that can both afford the Presidential Suite in your hotel, have many friends that also can afford your hotel, and love to tell our story...

Dirk W.

Yelp
I have stayed here several times and always have a great experience. The rooms are well done with really comfortable beds and you can't go wrong with a heated bathroom floor and Aveda products.I prefer the corner rooms and the rooms facing south. Take a bottle of wine to the rooftop deck and enjoy the view.Walking distance to great restaurants and bars.

Yelp
Two years after a fire nearly leveled Astoria in 1922, Hotel Elliott rose from the ashes. Guests now get "the historical aspect as well as modern amenities," says John C. Nelson, general manager. "It's in an urban setting and very walkable." The hotel is also just around the corner from another preservation success story, the Liberty Theater. I wanted to start this review with a little bit of history. Having done that, you all know I tend to start my reviews with what I didn't like. There is only one and it may be a nitpick but I'm gonna say it anyway. The updates to the hotel over the years have not extended to the T.V.'s. While there are plenty of things to do while in Astoria, with the clouds and rain, you tend to want to stay in and watch a movie. Not only are the T.V.'a still only 720p but, they are not internet able or have the ability to broadcast from your phone or tablet. Other than that, I found the hotel to be warm and welcoming. The sound of the hardwood floors creaking as you walked along reminded you of just how old this place is. The best things about the rooms were the huge soaking tubs. If you took a long flight or your train ride sucked, running a bath, putting in some Epsom salts and bubbles in and grabbing a pint and a shot in this tub will take care of that. The breakfast bar was plentiful and very well stocked I found. The location of the hotel truly is central where I walked to where I needed to be. I'm not a huge fan of hotels but the choices for #homeaway were TERRIBLE here. So I'm glad that I enjoyed my stay here on my getaway to #astoria.

Yelp
Not at all what I expected from the Yelp reviews or their website. The room we had was on the small side. Odd, awkward wardrobe took up a chunk of the wall and all that was in it was an ironing board. No dressers for our clothes, so we lived out of our suitcases which were either stuffed under the desk or on the floor. The decor in the room needs to be updated as the garish picture of mountains of dead fish doesn't really say sweet dreams. The old windows kept moving and hitting the wooden frames with the slighest breeze so on the first night, both of us kept waking up. No minibar or snacks, but there was a microwave. That doesn't really help when you're on vacation, people. While the bathroom was nicely decorated, it was small. My friend was happy that the floor was heated, and we were both happy that they had Aveda products. When we checked in, the gal at the front desk was friendly and pleasant. She really wanted to engage in conversation about current events at 1 am and we were both about to fall asleep on our feet after driving for hours, so we had to firmly get away from her. The person we saw at the front desk the rest of the time was totally unfriendly and just stared at her feet the rest of our stay. They have a great breakfast that comes with your stay each morning. The first morning we were there, we were starving and loaded up our plates. The bread was really good, along with the scrambled eggs and fried potatoes. They also had Greek yogurt, fresh fruit and sausage. They changed the food for the second morning, and we had waffles which were big and very good. The first morning, I walked up to the lady working the continental breakfast to tell her it was great and thank you. She gave a very dramatic eyeroll my way followed by a loud "hmph." My friend and I still use this "hmph" when we want to parody someone doing poorly in customer service. I was pretty surprised. I was even more surprised when a couple at another table told her thanks and she really kissed their butt and told them how it was because she was raised right. Oh really? We could hear perfectly the people in the rooms next to us since the walls are paper thin. No wifi at this place. Zero amenities or things to do at this place besides a chess board and a small wine bar which does nothing for me since I don't play chess or drink. I wouldn't return to this hotel in the future, all things considered.

Yelp
wow, what a great place. A renovated old hotel in downtown Astoria, great character. We had a corner room on the north side which had an awesome view of the river, bridge, and west side of town. There's a roof patio to hang out and catch some more amazing views. I like that they don't overdo the luxury or boutique aspects of their business. Staff are very friendly. Continental breakfast was about the same as any motel/hotel, which I always skip and eat out. Very comfy bed. A good place for a romantic getaway. Parking is around the corner in the American Legion parking lot. The weekend Farmers Market happens right out front. There is wired internet in the room, which I didn't test, but I was able to access the city's free public WiFi network from my room. Also a cool little gas fireplace, TV/DVD player (all untested but they are there).

Yelp
Hotel Elliot is a fancy hotel in the heart of Astoria. The location is nice... but is the hotel nice as well? You better believe it. My wife and I stayed here for one night for our one year wedding anniversary. From check-in to check-out, we were genuinely impressed with the place. The lobby is very nice and provides some free coffee. Our room was up on the fourth floor (the hotel is five floors). We opted to get the most basic of rooms, which was incredibly nice. Our room had a large, beautiful bed complete with feather-top mattress and feather pillows. The bedroom / living area was quite nice and very well kept up. We had some fantastic views from our room as well, with one window with a direct view of the bridge and the other of the river. The room is also equipped with a TV along with a DVD player; we were thankful, since we wanted to watch some Cosby Show DVDs while staying :) The bathroom was also very nice! It had heated tiles, which is just an added, "How sweet!" bonus. We had the opportunity to go to the rooftop where they have a nice little gathering spot. Up on the roof (which is open til 10pm, I believe) are some chairs to sit and soak in the view, a nice art piece, a firepit of sorts and (oddly enough) a little room up there that seemed like a small room you may be able to rent. There's a winebar downstairs for the evenings that also is the place for your continental breakfast in the mornings. All in all, we were very pleased with our stay. We had zero issues with Hotel Elliot and thought everything was presented very nicely. We'll be looking into coming back.

Yelp
The perfect spot to stay for a short visit to Astoria. Great location where most of town is walkable, friendly staff, clean and reasonably priced. We stayed on a weeknight, but they let me park my car over night in their loading zone outside the front door until we checked out, which was pretty convenient. They have an awesome rooftop patio with a view which would be awesome in the warmer months. Classy little bar/dining area as well. Overall a cool little hotel, will stay here again if I come back

Yelp
Referred here by the folks at the overpriced, uptight fancy pants place on the pier. And so glad I chose to stay here that night! 1st time in Astoria, so it was cool to be able to walk around downtown. Cool coffee shop/music shop downstairs. Friendly staff, ultra-clean rooms. Nice, it made up for being tiny. Great quality, high thread count linens. Free wifi. Yeah, I'd stay here again!

Yelp
Wow this place went downhill. Tv didn't work and the room was damp. Weird vibes in this place now. Much better places to stay around there now. Avoid this place at all cost

Yelp
Where do I start with this beautiful place!? My husband and I had been on a roadtrip and decided to check out Astoria. We parked and started walking around to find good beer and a nice place to stay. We found a public parking area which happened to be next to this hotel. My husband and I are woodworkers, we truly enjoy historic places. This place is absolutely beautiful with historic charm and in walking distance of the breweries and restaurants! Our room was fabulous, we stayed in the junior suite which had a very comfortable queen bed, lovely fireplace, couch, incredible views, wonderful two person shower and two person jacuzzi tub. They also had Aveda soaps and lotion, which is my favorite! The rooftop terrace had a gas firepit which was wonderful to enjoy our brews and see all of Astoria. We had a beautiful sunset view and in the morning from our bed, we got to see a beautiful sunrise and watch boats come in off in the distance. The staff were so very nice and accommodating. The breakfast was very good, french toast, ham, yogurt and cereal. We even played a few games of pool down in the basement which was awesome! Will definitely be staying here again and recommending this place to all of our friends and family. Thank you Hotel Elliot!

Yelp
Great place to stay and we will go back! Room was a nice size, bed was super comfy, and bathroom was normal size and clean. We had a nice view of the bridge and sunset. Continental breakfast was one of the better ones I've had. Perfectly located. With in walking distance to just about anything you need downtown. Didnt get to spend time up in the rooftop, but did get to see it. When I came back I'm definitely going to spend time up there.

Yelp
We heard about their great rooftop bar so when we stayed in Astoria we went over there after dinner to experience it. Well, they don't let you up there if you're not staying at Hotel Elliott. We couldn't believe it. Seriously? Couldn't believe they didn't want our business and we were sad to miss out on a rooftop experience in Astoria. Maybe we will stay there next time we're in town, but this really left a bad taste in our mouth toward this place. Sorry.

Yelp
My husband and I chose Hotel Elliott for our honeymoon. Great staff, fun wine bar in the evenings. Overall great choice for our laid back traveling style. We like its location in downtown Astoria, which is central to the sightseeing we wanted to do. Over three days we took trips to Tillamook, Cannon Beach and Hug Point. Walking around Astoria and trying the local food is great too.

Yelp
This is always our favorite place to stay any time we go to Astoria. The location is perfect, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff are so kind. The rooftop deck is beautiful and you are just a short walk away from everything Astoria has to offer, already can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I loved this little boutique hotel! If Astoria had nicer weather I would come here more often! Making the reservation was very easy, I spoke with Ana and she was very accomodating and efficient. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a view looking towards the water. The MOST comfortable bed is true beds were nice. I typically choose a hotel room based on its bathroom however. AND this bathroom was amazing. Heated floors (much needed when we stayed in January 2011) a large NICE and CLEAN jetted bath tub and a nice glass walled shower- non of that shower curtain business. I loved it! The rooftop was nice, we did have sun the first day there it was nice to look out. I bet in the summer it'd be nice to take a bottle of white wine up there and just lounge. It was a close walk to the Astoria Coffee Co which we also loved and frequented every morning. But I'll save the for another review.

Yelp
Stayed a couple nights at the Hotel Elliott. It is way cool with a roof top terrace. The soaker whirlpool tub is AWESOME as is the HUGE shower in the Junior Suite. I love the fact you can open the windows and get some fresh air! You can see the Column from the 5th floor and the terrace which is cool. Staff were great, housekeeping was great and you can pretty much walk anywhere downtown. However, parking (or lack thereof) is terrible. On Sunday there is a Sunday market so you can't park along the street in certain places, namely near the hotel. Parking is only 2 hours until 10 pm so you have to go out and do the lido shuffle every few hours unless you can find an unmarked spot. What a pain in the a$$.

Yelp
The overall experience of this hotel for me was awesome. They have a library right by the fireplace, a nice little gym, and the Front desk counter is original from when it was first built in the 1920's. You could still see a lot of the original parts of the building. The rooftop access and view is amazing and the location of it being smacked in downtown Astoria makes it all worthwhile.

Yelp
Booking: Super easy and same day Price: Fair for what you get Service: Friendly, efficient, personable Wine bar: a nice touch, open when we wanted it, pretty good selection of wines Breakfast: delicious Ambience: Quaint and comfortable Comfort: Good sized room and bathroom (the heated tiles were nice!), and all of the extra touches were appreciated Location: Walkable to downtown shops. The Sunday market is right outside, which made for a fun thing to do Drawbacks: Parking was a bit of a hassle. We didn't get to enjoy the rooftop deck much, but that was due to the rainy weather. We stopped by the roof and it looked like a great place to spend some time on a nicer day. Overall: We enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

Yelp
Did not like the fact that you had to park on the street. If it would have been a busy night there would have been no where to park. The car was safe and the streets were lit up. The room was just ok we were on the street side and didn't want to leave the curtains open. The continental breakfast was so so. The staff was very courteous. They create a good recommendation for the restaurant across the street which was fantastic.

Yelp
Loved the location! Outstanding service and great breakfast too! Great location in town. Be sure to visit Reach Break brewery around the corner.

Yelp
The hotel was very nice renovated hotel. Had the best time sitting on the rooftop terrace drinking wine, stargazing and making new friends. The terrace was a selling point when we reserved the hotel and it was well worth it! The room was comfortable. the window do rattle but it was fixed with a little paper. the bathroom was huge! the staff was very knowledgeable able Astoria and the surrounding area.

Yelp
This will be a long one, so in a nut shell: I absolutely LOVED Hotel Elliott. We are used to staying at bigger commercial hotels, so I was a little worried how the smaller older building would turn out. I ended up loving our room much more than any other room we've had anywhere else. Hotel Elliott will charm your socks off. Located right in historic Astoria, it's in walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, the waterfront, breweries, an arcade, and a few landmarks from The Goonies (we are both crazy about the movie, which brought us here in the first place). It keeps the older architecture that floods Astoria, but has updated the paint, finishings and furnishings. The lobby seems more like a cozy living room, and to the left of the check-in desk is their wine bar, which doubles as the breakfast room in the morning. I'm sure as with most older hotels, the rooms seem to be all different shapes and sizes. When I booked our room, we had the option of a regular room or for 50 bucks more, a junior suite. I went with the junior suite and don't regret that extra $50 one bit. We stayed in room 502 which is actually a pretty great location. The bathroom abuts the next room, so there wasn't any noise that we heard on our floor except when people were out in the hall. The only noise issues were people coming down or going up to the rooftop terrace that is open to everyone because part of the stairway was right above us. Luckily they limit access to it from 9am to 10pm so it wasn't really too much of a bother. Our room also had an amazing view of the river, the bridge, and downtown. There were windows all along the west wall and one next to the bed on the north wall. On arrival, the sun was setting and it was absolutely gorgeous. There was even a large window in the bathroom where you could take a bath in the giant Jacuzzi tub and just stare out (which also touted a heated floor and a double shower-head shower). I found it amusing that painted on the side of the building in big letters it not only said "hotel elliott" but underneath "wonderful beds". "Wonderful beds" is even etched into the flooring of the elevator, but it was true. The bed was amazing. I slept so well and found it harder to leave it on the day we had to check out. I had read a few reviews before coming here and saw from a few that the continental breakfast was not that great. On our first morning the boyfriend and I agreed that we'd take a look, and if we didn't find anything appealing, we'd go out to breakfast. We poked around and found hot biscuits and gravy! I had to try them out so we decided to do a sampling. Our sampling ended up a full fledged breakfast in which we went in for seconds. The biscuits and gravy were surprisingly delicious and they also had a egg/cheese/ham mixture that was also good. Everything was hot and tasty. They even had a plate of fresh made, warm cinnamon rolls. The next morning they had potato latkes and eggs benedict. The eggs were not typical benny eggs and more like a scramble (for good reason I'm sure) but they were still decent for what they were. I was hoping for more biscuits and gravy, but you can't always get what you want. The staff was friendly, and worked with me to try to get us an early check-in. We had a wedding to go to in Longview and didn't want to drive from Seattle in our wedding attire. Unfortunately, traffic prevented us from getting there early and giving us a 10 minute window to check in, change, and get back on the road. Despite us ending up getting there right at check-in time, there was no fuss. I also accidentally broke something in the hotel and it was promptly replaced by the time we came back from sight-seeing the next day. There is only street parking and a lot right next to the church, but it's not hard to find. The longest we spent looking for a parking spot near the hotel was about 1.5 minutes. Another bonus was that on Sundays during the summer they host a large farmers market that includes goods from all over as well as one area dedicated to food trucks and stands, and live music playing. I didn't expect it from a smaller town like Astoria but there it is, right out the front door of the hotel. It makes the parking situation a little more tricky, but like I said, we didn't find a problem. The only issue I found notable was that on Sunday night, most convenient and not overly-priced dining options weren't available for dinner. We didn't want to drive, but if you can/want to drive you might have better luck finding a good spot to eat. My only regret was that I didn't get a chance to check out the roof top deck. We only got about 30 minutes on our first night with the sunset and then on the second night it was cloudy and grey so I took advantage of the bathtub instead. I don't know when I would stay in Astoria next, but this hotel alone gives me a reason to come back. A truly amazing little gem!
