Hotel Elphinstone Annexe

This was such a great budget hotel find! All of the staff - the receptionists, porters, restaurant staff - were so welcoming, helpful and friendly, which made my stay here very pleasant and comfortable. While I had a small room, it was enough for just me, very clean, the bed was also very comfortable, and had a good bathroom facility with toiletries. I had delicious breakfasts every morning - you got a nice little choice from the menu everyday from local and western foods, like idli, misal pav to eggs, toast and waffles. And it seemed popular with a lot of other travellers too - there were lots of international guests, which was quite reassuring for me as a solo traveller. ||A pretty good location for getting to different sights - not too far from the Colaba area/Gateway of India, although I got a taxi everywhere I went so hard to say much more about convenience - but it seemed to be the case! ||The only drawback was that sometimes I could hear some music playing/noise late at night most nights (I was there for 3 nights) - I didn’t really check out the local area as I was only in Mumbai for a couple of days, so I assume there was a venue nearby. BUT, it didn’t stop me from getting to sleep. ||Overall, I would book Elphinstone again if I visit Mumbai in the future!

Nice hotel with very kind staff. I arrived a bit early and they served me a cup of tea in a comfortable chair in the Annexe whilst they got the room ready for me. From the beginning all the staff were friendly and helpful, I didnt get the gentlemens name with the moustache but he and Hemond seem to run the place very well. My room was tidy, clean and comfortable but a bit small. I'm not sure about the other rooms but mine didn't have a window. Also the main Annexe is air conditioned but my room was off a balcony so as soon as I left the room it felt very warm. All in all a nice place to stay when visiting that part of Mumbai 🙏

Well it’s a gem. Don’t go by the old facade on the outside. The interior of the hotel is premium and the exceptional service makes it more premium. Mr Hemond and his team take care of the guests like any professional. The smaller rooms are bit small but the deluxe and suite rooms are very good. We had booked deluxe rooms but the hotel management upgraded us in suite rooms since we stayed for days. During our trip, they were kind enough to keep our luggage safe for 2-3 days. Just near the 18th platform of CSMT. 2-3 kms from Colaba and Marine Drive. Overall a very good experience.

It was a pleasant experience staying at Hotel Elphinstone Annexe. I visited with my family for a cousin’s wedding. We received good welcome and hospitality from the reception staff especially the manager, Mr Hemond. Also, we received good service from all the house keeping staff. The breakfast was very tasty and it was totally worth it staying there for 3 nights. Highly recommendable for someone looking for a good hotel in south Mumbai to stay with their family. I would prefer to stay there again for attending any other events or functions in the family.

We spent 20 wonderful days at Hotel Elphinstone Annexe, and the experience was truly exceptional. The staff's genuine, warm hospitality stood out immediately; they are incredibly friendly and always ready to help, even after their shifts ended. Every request was handled promptly, ensuring our long stay was smooth and comfortable.||||The hotel interior is great (ignoring the outside), with excellent housekeeping and a reassuring level of security, which gave us great peace of mind.||||The breakfast deserves special praise—it was delicious, with an impressive variety (idli-sambar, misal pav, toast, omelettes, waffles, etc.). The gentleman serving breakfast was exceptionally kind, even assisting us with luggage during our 3 a.m. checkout and waiting until our taxi arrived.||||A massive thank you to Mubarak, who consistently went above and beyond, quickly handling requests from getting us cold drinks to changing sheets. The daily afternoon tea and cookies in the lobby were a wonderful, homely touch.||||Highly recommended for comfort, safety, and outstanding service!||||Quick Tip: Opt for the deluxe rooms for a more spacious and comfortable experience, as the superior rooms are quite small.

CAUTION: Unmarried couples will not be allowed to stay in the hotel (foreigners are excluded from the rule but if one is an Indian citizen and the other a foreigner, you'll have to show proof of marriage). Overall decent stay for a good price. Main sights of the city are 15min away by car. Rooms were very clean and there was instant hot water. The hotel is nice on the inside but the building and staircase really isn't. Staff spoke English and complementary tea & coffee is served in the afternoon. Breakfast is okay - however they could season the eggs a bit more. Rooms are not cleaned daily and the AC filter in our room had to be cleaned as it smelled a bit dusty. 90% of rooms do not have a window so that's why the AC filter is even more important for fresh air. The AC was working just fine though.Overall, quite a nice stay.

The Elphinstone Annexe Hotel may not look very impressive from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. The inside is very clean and well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even more pleasant. Overall a comfortable, clean place to stay — I would definitely recommend it!

Had a lovely stay at this quaint little spot in a great location. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were compact but served our needs. Very reasonably priced. The staff was outstanding. I would stay here again.
