Hotel Elphinstone Annexe

CAUTION: Unmarried couples will not be allowed to stay in the hotel (foreigners are excluded from the rule but if one is an Indian citizen and the other a foreigner, you'll have to show proof of marriage). Overall decent stay for a good price. Main sights of the city are 15min away by car. Rooms were very clean and there was instant hot water. The hotel is nice on the inside but the building and staircase really isn't. Staff spoke English and complementary tea & coffee is served in the afternoon. Breakfast is okay - however they could season the eggs a bit more. Rooms are not cleaned daily and the AC filter in our room had to be cleaned as it smelled a bit dusty. 90% of rooms do not have a window so that's why the AC filter is even more important for fresh air. The AC was working just fine though.Overall, quite a nice stay.

I had chosen this hotel based on the positive reviews and feedback from past guests. I found everything to be in good order from the moment of arrival at 8:15am after my early morning flight through until my departure. |I was very grateful to be allowed to check in early and the room was as expected with all the described features. Offered fresh bottled water and tasty tea on arrival whilst the check-in paperwork was completed, I then found the room with great air conditioning, extra ceiling fan, small bar fridge and good bathroom.||Staff were always polite, welcoming and eager to assist. Due to my various tour bookings I did not have the included complimentary breakfast but the menu card showed suitable options for both a western and indian style breakfast.||My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that having now stayed, the hotel is a bit far from the tourist areas requiring a taxi all of the time and the options for eating or snacking very close to the hotel are limited.

Exceptional service by all staff, the exterior maybe a little off putting to some, but boy when you get inside it's amazing. We were given the room just off to the left as you came up the stairs, it was clean, bright, and spacious. The bathroom was clean and a good size, hand wash, body wash and shampoo provided. Towels and bedding are clean and fresh. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and you can have whatever is on the menu and the chef cooked it fresh every day. It's easy to get a taxi outside to India gate ect.|We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is safe and the room was clean. The staff are helpful. The price I paid was reasonable value for money. I enjoyed the breakfast. It was easy to find the hotel and I always felt perfectly safe. Definitely a good option when needing accommodation in Mumbai.

We chose this hotel so as to be close to the csmt railway station for an early departure. It is very conveniently situated for the station and the markets. It’s very easy to get a cab from outside and should charge around 60 rupees to go to the gateway of India if they have the meter on but we were continuously asked for 300 which we paid. ||Don’t be put off by the stairwell leading up to the hotel. It’s authentic and absolutely fine if you are laid back and don’t require a polished atmosphere all the time. Once in the hotel, you will find a warm welcome and clean and lovely atmosphere with a pleasant seating area. ||We had a small internal room which was very clean and had everything we needed, a good shower and hot water, clean bed linen and towels. Rooms are cleaned daily. I wish I had booked a larger room as they had windows but just a small detail. ||A tasty breakfast was cooked freshly every morning with a daily changing menu. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Next time we are in Mumbai, this place would be our first option to stay. Thank you for the hospitality.|The staff was kind and courteous. |The breakfast served was great too. |Room was clean at all times with the housekeeping doing a great job.

This hotel was great value. Room was small ( superior) and would probably book deluxe if returning. Cleaned every day with fresh towels. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and I enjoyed the best masala omelette of our entire stay in India. Not in the most celubrious area but ideal for cheap taxi to CSMT ( 100 rupee tops). Good restaurants below hotel too.

Wonderful little hotel with very, very kind staff. The gentlemen really made our stay!|Superior room is super tiny; Deluxe room is very roomy.
