We chose this hotel based on the positive reviews and booked a one-week stay over Christmas. Unfortunately, our experience did not fully meet our expectations.
Upon arrival, it became apparent that the property would benefit from renovation. The rooms felt quite dark and did not correspond to the impression given in the photos. Additionally, the lobby area is very small for a hotel presented as 5-star, and the elevator is also extremely limited in size.
The breakfast experience was disappointing, particularly the coffee, which was of very low quality despite being charged at €9–10.
What surprised us the most, however, was being charged €119 for taking partially used shampoo and conditioner that were already placed in the room for guest use, despite having paid €1,000 per night for accommodation. This policy was unexpected and left us with a very negative impression.
Overall, the experience did not align with the standards we associate with a luxury hotel. We regret that our stay did not meet the expectations created by the reviews and promotional material, and unfortunately we would not choose to return.
COMMENT AFTER MANAGEMENT RESPONSE :
After receiving an unexpected charge for in-room shampoo and conditioner, the hotel informed us that a card listing the prices had been placed in the room. However, no such card was visible or brought to our attention during our stay.
In many hotels, toiletries used by guests are also sold as souvenirs, but these prices usually apply to brand-new products purchased from a hotel shop—not to items already opened and used in the room. Even if such a card had been present, it would not have been clear that these amenities were subject to an extra charge. Had we known, we would have brought our own toiletries, which is not something one would expect from a five-star hotel experience. That said, the issue with the shampoo charge does not change our overall impression. The hotel has several other shortcomings, which we have already mentioned, and in our opinion it is significantly overpriced for what it ultimately offers. Finally, we do not agree with the implication that a guest is being unfair simply for expressing a negative experience. We were paying customers, and we have every right to share an honest opinion that may differ from positive reviews. The purpose of public reviews is to help future guests make informed decisions about where to stay and how to spend their holidays.
