Hotel Emerald Isle Ishigaki

Location for trips to island is perfect. Breakfast sushi is wonderful which I like most. The scenery on the roof is very good. Only the room is small and no free car parking. Check in at 3pm and check out at 10am.

It’s a budget hotel and I got what I paid for. The location is good. Close to the terminal but not right at the restaurants area where drunk people make noise at night. The staffs are nice and accommodating. Some downsides are, there are pigeon morning calls everyday, breakfast is a little bit limited, the bathroom fixtures are old and can be noisy, the insulation is not good. Sometimes other hotel guests talk in hallway in the morning & at night, and I’m pretty sure I killed all the mosquitos everyday. But after room cleaning, there are mosquitos again so I think the cleaning staffs had the door wide open.

The room was extremely small which made it difficult to keep 2 medium sized suitcases open in the hallway. Only one person could really walk about the room at any one time or you would bump into each other. However this is quite typical of business budget hotels in Japan. We ended hanging out at the lobby area in the afternoon where there was free water, coffee and teas (hot and cold teas).||Location wise, Ishigaki city centre is small and everywhere is walkable. This place was near the port and was about 5-10 mins walk from the public market. Note that there is no free on site parking. You will need to park at the P sign diagonally opposite the hotel, which was 100 yen per hour, capped at 1800 yen per day. ||Amenities wise, there’s a coin operated washing and drying machine room which was convenient. The lobby lounge was spacious and comfortable. Some of the older / more experienced workers could speak minimal English - we tried asking them to get us a cab from our car return site back to the hotel but was difficult to communicate. We ended up walking 30 mins back to the hotel which wasn’t too bad. ||Breakfast is provided - rice onigiri is made on the spot by an ojisan (uncle) and there is a variety of flavours to choose from (spam, seaweed, plum etc). There was also small bowls of soba with dashi soup. Simple but adequate

The hotel is locate very close to the bus terminal, port and the city center... easy access for everything in Ishigaki ! |The staff is very friendly and helpful... they make you feel like you were at home! |The room has a very comfortable bed and was bigger than I expected. The breakfast is prepared in front of you according to your choice of oniguiri and there’s a microwave near the laundry machine - coin laundry- steamer, air cleaner for the guests for free besides juice, tea and coffee at the lobby! |Really recommend this hotel! The hotel is located very conveniently near the bus terminal and ferry terminal. There is a restaurant just next to the hotel which opens till late and serves very good food. A short walk from the hotel are many other places to venture to as well.||||The hotel staff do not speak much English, but were extremely helpful to the best of their ability to assist in my queries. They serve excellent complimentary and unlimited servings of onigiri for breakfast which you can choose from a variety of flavours. I loved their soba noodles and they also provided a range of juices, coffee, tea for all hotel guests. ||||Recommended for their excellent service and location.

I am staying at this hotel with my parents for four nights now. We have a great experience here. When we checked in, Mr Oshiro was really helpful and professional to help us check in. And also during our stay here in the past three days, everyone was very friendly and helpful. ||The room is basic but got everything you need. The location is great. Very close to everything. There's a cafe on the second floor that got some simple curry rice and pastas. They also have free coffee and tea in their lobby cafe for their hotel guests. ||Downstairs there's a Japanese seafood restaurant next to the entrance of the hotel. Excellent food!||There's a laundry room on the third floor in the hotel, which is quite convenient. The washer is 200 yen and dryer is 100 yen per 30 minutes. ||Definitely will recommend this hotel!||

We spent some days in Ishigaki in order to take day trips out to the various islands. This hotel is less than five minutes from the ferry port, and is just round the corner from many shops, restaurants and the market. The staff are friendly and helpful and one guy, I think the manager, is specially good, with fluent English. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. Particularly pleasant us the roof terrace, where one can sit with an evening drink to watch the sunset and the boats coming and going in the Harbour.

Our plan was to do some island hopping around Ishigaki so we didn't need a resort with lots of recreational amenities since we would not be spending much time within the hotel. We spent 4 nights here and the experience was great. Nothing fancy as this seems to be a typical modern Japanese hotel upgraded from the 80's. The art gallery and overall vibe of the hotel hip and edgy. Our room was clean, comfortable and well kept. The location can't be beat as it is only a few minutes walk from the main pier. And each day we wound down with the spectacular sunset viewed from the roof.
