After staying at the Vintage Classic Yacht Hotel in Yangon, and We stay @ Bagan Lotus in Bagan, the Emperor hotel in Mandalay was absolutely disappointing. We booked Superior rooms, but they were small and not well lit. The bathroom was the worse part, small, tiny, dingy with no place to hang your clothes, such horrible lighting you can barely see your face, and worse of all, the bath tub had no Shower curtain and when you bathe the bathroom floor is covered in water. While we could adjust with the room, the most horrible part was the tiny bathroom. We were very very disappointed we chose this property. Only a small restaurant next to the hotel, no shopping, nothing close by. I found the location horrible too. There is an Indian Restaurant, and a convenience store, a Grab & Go store 5 minutes walk away, but nothing else to do around. A truly depressing property. Another thing to mention was the breakfast, small dining area, tiny coffee cups, luke warm coffee and very limited choices....||On the good side, the staff were always ready to help, smiling and cheerful. Internet worked well. They organised a taxi to drop us off at the bus stop but I thought 15000 MMK was a bit steep for the 15 minuted ride. We got a cake and bed decorated on are anniversay and that was very thoughtful. Lots of mosquitos in the room, but staff came and sprayed a repellant. Food to order in the room was a bit pricey.||Will I stay here or recommend - I dont think so....||

We choose this place mainly for the location and for the reviews found here and on the lonely planet but unfortunately we did not have a complete positive experience. |We booked a standard room through booking.com and the room was supposed to have a safe but it did not . I asked to change room with a safe and the staff assisted me in this.|The bathroom does not really have a shower - see pics. |The hotel is not very much clean in general, just above my pillow there is a bed light all framed from spider webs.|Not much food choice for the breakfast

Stay in superior room for 5 nights. Room size is decent for 2. Everything in room is functioning well, except WiFi is super slow and not stable. My handphone 4G by telenor however is quite fast. Breakfast is simple, 1 big issue is we saw a mouse running around a cupboard which is keeping all the cups & plates, that's gross. Location is OK, walking to Palace entrance is quite a distance. Taxi offered by hotel is charged reasonably, however using Grab service is much cheaper. You can pay your room in USD but they can't do money changing. Would be a plus if they allowed me late checkout.

We visited Mandalay as Family Trip and We found this hotel quite interesting. I mean it’s kinda small but it’s worth to stay at the hotel emperor. Clean beds, floors, curtains and there’s also some huge rooms with great views. It’s not expensive. Got Free wifi, 24 hr electricity. And have kind and friendly staffs. +5 For me.

Generally, we can say that hotel room price is the same in comparison with other hotels although it is small hotel with tight room type. Hotel is decorated with timber. Even if it has nice decoration, I don't feel fresh with it because of too small room type. It may be nice for foreigners who wants to have alternative experience.

Good acconmodation with reasonable price. Staffs are kind and helpful. Stayed there for 6 nights during my business trip. The location is near to the palace and can enjoy the morning walk at the lake.

Very small clean room in good location. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Didn't get to check out the breakfast, because we had to check out before it started.

Ageing building, tatty rooms. Was noisy due to room over an alleyway. Walls are thin so you can hear the shower in the room either side. I left some sprite in a glass on the table, when I returned the whole room was crawling with ants. The electric socket sparked when I plugged in my charger. Electric socket in the bathroom was hanging out of the wall. Then after telling us an early breakfast would be prepared for us as we were leaving early nothing was ready. On payment we were told we couldn't pay in local currency only by card and there was a 2.6 percent surcharge for the pleasure. Overpriced and not recommended
