If you are one of those people who like to shower with warm or hot water run from this place. At least all the 3rd floor (that we know of) has this issue and my parents (65+) were very uncomfortable with this (of course). Moreover, they make you pay full fare in advance at the check in. So, my parents asked for a refund for the following days so they can change hotel, they refuse the refund. They offer a service that they can't provide after three days of saying they are repairing the water service. It has been really an awful experience. The location is very convenient, the cleanliness could be improved.

The hotel building is an old but very nice and well kept construction. It need some work done (like the elevator) and the bathtub. The service was not very good, as we didn't have our room cleaned and the front desk manager was not very keen in helping us when needed. Breakfast is alright, but they do not offer real coffee, just instant coffee which my wife and I cannot stand (many other travelers though the same)... it's a cool building but won't impress many if there's no change in the above mention areas.

Great location next to the river, very close to the city centre and with some great restaurants just along the street. Hotel itself is good, rooms clean and spacious. Breakfast buffet also very good, and much wider choice than other places I've stayed in Chile. However, on the negative, I had no hot water either day I was there and no water at all in the evening, which is definitely not what I'd expect for any price, certainly not hotel prices.

Had a upper-floor room with a great view over the river, which I would recommend requesting (unless you don't want to climb up a few flights of stairs). Cool rugged feel with wooden decorations. Staff was mostly helpful. Breakfast was poor, with no real coffee (only Nescafe) and powder eggs that often ran out.

The hotel was ok... a little noisier than desired, but you could ask for a higher floor (our room was on the 2nd with a river view). The price wasn't bad and they had just hired a new guy that speaks fluent English :-) the picture of the sea lions is by the river, just a few blocks away from the hotel... unexpected!!

We chose it because its cheaper than the hotel next door and we were only staying one night. It is an old hotel and could use some deep cleaning and painting.||||The mattress should be replaced, it is old and our backs suffered. ||Breakfast is OK, no real coffee though, only powdered coffee. ||Room could be cleaner, bathroom had hairs in the tub.||||View is nice, walkable distance to all tourist attractions.

I slept on a tired old mattress that felt like it had a mountain range underneath it. The other bed in the room had only a foam mattress. The window blinds failed to stop the street lights bathing the room with bright light - all night. Tour groups seem to like this place - and when groups are there, other guests are marginalised. I received a wake-up call at 06:30 that was intended for tour group people - the very morning I wanted to sleep in! Breakfast was adequate but some food only made an appearance when the tour group arrived.

This place is definitely for the college student on a shoe string holiday budget. The tiny room, bare bones furnishing including hard foam rubber pillows, very basic breakfast of extremely poor quality food left a great deal to be desired. No English is spoken. There was a glimpse of the river if you pressed your face against the window frame. At least the $89 US was priced right. Valdivia seems pretty down at the heel as well.
