Update: There’s a huge difference between “connecting with nature” and unacceptable sanitary conditions. Dirty sheets, a dead cockroach next to the bed, and ants everywhere are not “part of the experience” - they’re basic hygiene and maintenance failures. And most importantly: the dismissive and hostile attitude of your staff. Being threatened that you’ll replace filthy bedding “just this once” - as if requesting clean sheets is outrageous - and then throwing a duvet cover at me and refusing to change is insulting and unprofessional behavior. Notice there’s zero apology or accountability in your response to me or any of the reviews here. Just blame-shifting and dismissiveness toward your guests. You can be an eco-friendly hotel close to nature while maintaining basic cleanliness and treating your guests with respect. *** I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and it was a complete nightmare from start to finish. The room was infested with ants, and I found lizard droppings all over the sheets. In the morning, I woke up to find a dead cockroach next to my bed. When I asked for clean bedding, the staff member became hostile and aggressive, saying he would give me new sheets “just this time” - as if asking for clean, waste-free bedding is some kind of unreasonable demand. Then someone came to change the bedding but only brought a duvet cover. He took the old one, threw a new one at me, and when I asked for a complete set including the pillow (which had droppings on it) and bottom sheet, he pretended not to understand and refused to provide them. To top it all off, they charge $1.50 just to fill up a regular water bottles. This place is unsanitary, the staff is rude and unhelpful, and the conditions are unacceptable. Do not waste your money here. Avoid at all costs.

Very noisy next to main road. We travelled with a group and were checked in in room #1. Right next to the main road. The trucks and mopeds are so incredibly noisy, we felt the vibrations in the room. We live in Amsterdam so used to noisy city life, but this was unbearably noisy. The first rooms (especially 1 and 2) are absolutely unsuitable for hotel purposes. We decided to book another hotel. The owner was totally dismissive to our discomfort, couldn’t offer another room because the hotel was booked full (mainly with our group), and refused to refund (2 night). The garden is beautiful and I think rooms in the back will be nice. Even your reply to this post shows your absolute dismissive attitude. We traveled with a large group, a returning costumer. I am baffled by your attitude not even trying to find a solution. You got your money, that’s all that matters for you.

Great location! Good price! Also the staff is very nice and friendly. You'll see lots of small animals. From the cute porch can watch sweet hummingbirds flying around. The garden is very well maintained.

We had a great stay at Escape Caribeño. It was the last stop on our 3-Week Tour through Costa Rica and I think it was the best Hotel we stayed at. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was really good. It is near to many Restaurants and Shops and also has a Laundromat right next to it. Hotel staff was always super friendly and helpful. It was visible to me how frequently they swept the tiles outside and made sure there were no leftover leaves or anything on it. One thing I personally really appreciate was how many plants and different trees etc. were planted on the grounds. It’s beautiful to look at and good for Wildlife. We saw 2 sloths in the trees near the Hotel Reception which was my personal highlight. I really look forward to coming back here. I can only recommend this place.

Our family stayed here for 4 days (my husband, our 2 yr old and 6yr old and my mom in her 80's). It was like living a dream being here. The staff are so kind and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and we were grateful for the air-conditioning,tv and refrigerator. These are the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in Costa Rica. The gardens are so beautiful and amazing and we saw so many birds and animals all at the hotel (agouti, sloth and baby, iguana, little lizards everywhere). We loved all our meals at the restaurant. The pool is lovely and we spent some part of every day in it and there's a private beach access too. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone it's lovely. I have been here 3 different times in the past but this is the best hotel I have stayed at yet. Pura vida

Lovely property in a good location, breakfast was good, staff were kind. The landscaping is fantastic. It's very clean |We were in cabana no 1, and it was so loud that we could not sleep. Hitcwatee is hit ir miss. Highway noise, people screaming at all hours, and horns, motorcycles.

Visited as part of a group . A lovely hotel well situated and with a brilliant swimming pool in a fabulous garden. The rooms are okay, fairly basic but comfortable but the shower needs a new nozzle and the towels were so thin. And disappointed there wasn’t even a kettle in the room
