Excellent resort with easy access to all the activities on the Orient Beach coast. The staff are just so very friendly and helpful. Their on-property restaurant serves great food and wonderful live music multiple nights a week. Even the staff at the restaurant make you feel very welcome and treat you like family. A big value/selling point is that as a resort guest you get free access to beach chairs on 4 different beaches in the vicinity and additional discounts at many other facilities.

This is not your typical 5 star super luxury hotel like a Ritz Carlton. But I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s so comfortable, Charming-French style hospitality. The rooms are cottages with a shared pool. Short 3 minute walk down to Orient beach. But the rooms are spacious with beautiful green tiled showers and vanities. Refrigerator and stove in each room. But the best part here is how nice the people, and the excellent French restaurant on the premises (nice to not drive to a restaurant). And I do mean excellent restaurant but at bistro prices. The same restaurant also does daily breakfast. People on the french side are so warm and friendly. The nice young girl who checked us in is an intern from France and she walked us to our cottage. Orient Beach is one of the world’s greatest beaches

This is our 4th fantastic vacation to Esmeralda. The staff is always accommodating and our rooms have been very comfortable - I tell my wife the it's my Best sleep ever! Ermeralda is Not a typical loud and large hotel - 4 bungalows share their own pool, which is usually to yourself, quiet and private! We start our day with a wonderful breakfast at the on-site restaurant L'Astrolabe (Karin and Jerome area wesome). Then take a short walk to the beach for morning snorkeling and swim. The water is calm on the south end of the bay and perfect for snorkeling. The rest of the bay is great for water sports. Then we stop by one of the many beach bars for a wonderful lunch while viewing the Caribbean Sea from the shade of our table. Back to our room for a quick nap and then into our rental car to explore one of the other 30+ beaches on the island. Dinner at L'Astrolabe, which is very good French cuisine, or onto the close drive Orient Village OR Grand Case, where there are so many wonderful dining choices. I miss it already!

The people are very friendly. Our room was clean and quiet and the a/c worked very well. The semi-private pools are nice, but as others have said, without shade it's tough to hang out for long unless it's after dark. While we didn't use the included beach clubs often, the free ones are nice, and a great option. We didn't mind the walk, but if mobility is an issue, the walk down to the beach and the restaurants in "town" might be too much, especially at night since there is a lack of outdoor lighting once you are off the hotel grounds. The included breakfast is a true continental breakfast which is fine, but if you are looking for more options, the add-ons were very reasonably priced and delicious. A couple notes (not complaints, just information others might want to know)||** There is no ATM at the hotel or the shops nearby|** A car isn't necessary, but it is a bit of walk down the beach to the restaurants and shops, so unless you like to walk, a car might be the way to go|** taxi from airport is $40 each way, so consider that when deciding whether to rent a car as they are not overly expensive|** May is the beginning of the slow season. We enjoyed it, but if you are looking for lots of people and excitement, earlier in the season might be for you

This was our eleventh visit to St Martin and the Esmeralda Resort. Clearly, we like the place and look forward to returning for our twelfth visit next year. The staff are great - very helpful and excellent in speaking English, even as I try to speak French. The accommodations are adequate and basic. One criticism - we like to sit outside on the patio and the chairs are not very comfortable. Overall, the resort is looking a bit tired and in need of some modernization. I have had knee replacement surgery and, although not disabled, find the steps difficult to navigate, especially at night. There are few handrails and the stone steps are uneven. We love the Astrolabe restaurant, enjoying the daily breakfasts and some gourmet dining in the evenings. We also dine frequently at the Village, which is easily walkable for Esmeralda. Hopefully we will return next year and maybe villa 46 will be available - it's an eyesore right now.

I love Esmeralda and have been coming to this resort yearly for the last 20 years! I love the room, the bedding, the little patio overlooking the pool and beautiful views. I feel my tension slipping away as soon as I arrive, am greeted by the amazing staff as an old friend and feel like I am home!

Although slightly up a hill from the beach, the walk is short and this is a nice hotel. I is laid out with quite a few buildings spread out on the property. Each building has 3-4 separate units (which can be combined) and a private pool for each property.||Breakfast is provided in the restaurant area which also serves a great dinner.||Free chairs and umbrellas are provided at four of the places on the beach (KKO is the closest and it was very nice). You can charge drinks and meals from those places to your room.||The staff was very efficient, friendly and helpful.

We all enjoyed our stay very much. We rented a 2 bedroom 2ba suite and another adjoining room with bathroom, great space for our family if 4 to all spread out and have privacy. Nice small kitchen facilities, and small pool outside was relaxing but not for laps, FYI. Great location near many good restaurants in Orient Bay, short walk to beach, convenient restaurants within resort and at beach. Small breakfast buffet was included and satisfying, additional options available for added fee. Service very friendly.
