21 Picture-Perfect Hotels in Mallorca, From Historic Castles to Wellness Hotspots

"Swedish couple Mikael and Johanna Landström (who also own the Hotel Portixol in Palma) have transformed it from rather dusty traditional lodgings into a gleaming-fresh temple of Scandinavian chic. The bright and airy bedrooms—retro-cool with mid-century armchairs and fern-frond-printed wallpaper—have views either out to the water or to the terraced gardens behind, planted with olive trees, red geranium, and bougainvillea. And because there's no traffic, you really can fall asleep to the sound of waves lapping the shore. There's a kids' menu in the bistro, a family pool (and one for the grown-ups), baby bedding, highchairs, and cots all available, as well as junior treatments in the spa. And if you manage to get everyone to bed in time when you're back, make a beeline for one of the striped, nautical chairs on the terrace. Order a stiff gin and tonic and marvel as the sun drops straight between the cliffs and sets behind the bobbing boats." - Roxy Kavousi-Walker, Stephanie Rafanelli

Esplendido Hotel, Port de Soller, Mallorca - Explore & Book

"What do you do when the first hotel you have created is a rip-roaring success? If you're Mikael and Johanna Landstrom, you take a dowdy, run-down 1950s hotel, apply the magic formula that worked first time around, and create a vibrant and relaxed base in Mallorca's most scenic seaside town. Stylish, funky and occupying the best position in the middle of the bay. Most of the bright and airy rooms look out to sea and, best of all, most have terraces with stunning views across the horseshoe bay. In fact you're so close to the sea that you can hear the waves lapping below. With a spa, a popular bistro-restaurant and bar that would not look out of place in any hip city hotel, pretty terraced gardens and refreshing pools, we can see why the only thing the successful Swedish husband and wife team didn't change was the name. Because it's all rather splendid indeed. A long-standing i-escape favourite! Highs The fantastic views from the sea-facing rooms, pools, garden and restaurants Rooms are packed with little extras (complimentary minibar drinks, Nespresso machines, flip-flops, beach bags) and many have outdoor space - watching the sunset from your terrace as the 2 lighthouses start their nightly vigil is hard to beatThe hearty breakfast in the light-filled breakfast room or out on the sunny terraceThe scenic harbour of Port de Soller, with its many restaurants, sandy beach and friendly atmosphere - and it's only a short tram ride to the mountain-ringed old town of SollerThe road outside is pedestrianised, so there's little or no traffic between you and the sea, making it perfect for an evening stroll Lows Bear in mind that it's popular with families, and the main pool area can teem with kids in midsummerAll 3 pools are small - ideal for a cooling dip, less so for swimming lengths With 74 rooms, it's larger than most i-escape hotels, but retains an intimate air and excellent serviceParking can be tricky but you really don't need a car hereThe upper garden terraces and adult-only pool could be difficult to reach for the less mobile" - Emma Taylor

I stayed at Hotel Espléndido for four nights from the 19th to the 23rd, after not being able to get a booking the previous year. It was absolutely worth the wait.||We arrived late at night due to a flight cancellation and rebooking, and the reception staff immediately came out to help us with our bags. That first impression set the tone for the whole stay – the reception team are phenomenal. They consistently under-promise and over-deliver. Whenever we needed dinner reservations, they used their local knowledge and connections to secure tables for us (except for Neni, which I booked myself – also an incredible experience).||I stayed in a large sea-view terrace room, and there is truly nothing like waking up in the morning, making an espresso in the room, and sitting out on the terrace overlooking the sea. Watching the sun rise, catching up on a few emails, or later in the evening seeing the sunset fade into night – it was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of the stay.||The hotel itself is stunning. The gardens are immaculate, and one staff member even helped us pick figs from the trees near the terrace – such a lovely touch. The food was excellent, and the service across the board was outstanding. The bar staff were attentive, quick, and served great drinks. One evening, a member of the team guided me through their very extensive gin menu, which was a highlight.||The spa was brilliant in terms of facilities and treatments, though the staff there came across a little surly at times. The only real downside for us was the main pool, which felt overcrowded and not particularly well-regulated.||Overall, though, this hotel is exceptional. The cleanliness, atmosphere, and especially the staff made our stay unforgettable. The Hotel Espléndido will always hold great memories for me, and I would happily return.

Amazing views over Port de Sóller from both the hotel and the pool area. Stylish rooms with comfy beds. Breakfast was fine, but we preferred trying other places after the first day. Friendly pool cat included 🐱

We stayed at Hotel Esplendido in July with our 8 year old, and absolutely loved it! The room was large, beds were so comfortable, and THE VIEWS!! The pool and garden area was so beautiful, with views overlooking the entire bay, and plenty of chairs for everyone - this hotel is gorgeous, we wished we had more nights there. |It was centrally located to everything in the port, we were able to walk to everything. The tram to Soller was just around the corner.|The staff was so friendly and accommodating (we arrived much earlier than expected and they helped guide us to parking, and sent us to the pool to hang out until our room was ready). |The food is so good, we are still talking about the omelettes we had for breakfast. The breakfast is a little pricey, but so worth it. The quality matches the price.|We hope to be back again in the future!

I don’t normally write a review but we had such a wonderful time here that I felt I had to . I stayed for a week with my daughter and her 4 month old baby girl . I can’t thank the hotel enough for their wonderful help with anything we needed . The staff are incredible , so helpful, thoughtful and just lovely . The front rooms have the most amazing view and the location is just the best . The restaurant was fabulous and again the staff were so attentive and helpful . The Espléndido is a very well run hotel which is obvious within a day of your stay but it’s so much more than that . I have stayed in many hotels over the years and we came away from this one so looking forward to our next visit which is already booked for the same time next year .

The hotel is absolutely wonderful. Centrally located in the port making it easy to get to restaurants and shops. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice. The pools, especially the adults only thermal pool, had the most incredible views. We booked a garden view room and were very happy with the size and the views of the garden courtyard. Provided bottled water and soda/beer in the rooms with was delightful. The front desk was helpful in picking out restaurants and activities. The tram stops super close by so very convenient. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay with our two young kids. The view of the harbor and the sea from the breakfast cafe and from our room are wonderful and the pools and gardens up on the hill are gorgeous too. Everyone was really friendly and kind with the kids and the food was great too. We'd love to come back.

Stayed for a week in the Atico room and it was well worth the extra cost. Terrace and room amenities were first class. Staff were all very pleasant and attentive. Pools and gardens were beautiful. One small gripe is the sunbeds could be better but this is only a small gripe as overall we loved our stay at this excellent hotel and will be returning soon.

NOT a ChatGPT Review. LOL . AMAZING does not say it all. Esplendido Hotel was a perfect ending to a 12 day family vacation in Spain. The village of Port de Soller was so perfect with lots of restaurants and plenty of Pizza for my picky boys. We did an amazing charter with Perfect charters and explored Valldemossa and the Drach Caves in Mallorca were great excursions. The food at the hotel was great breakfast, lunch at the pool and Dinner. Great Bar and Front Desk was very helpful for virgin Spain travelers. Reminded me of Positano and we will be back for sure!! Thanks to Sarah at Spain Savvy for finding this special place for us and pulling strings to get us there with only 2 months notice. Really awesome experience.
