Hotel Estrella del Norte Isla

We enjoyed our weekend away. The rooms are old and definetly need some renovation. The jaccuzzi and sauna were our favourite. The breakfast was like you can imagine the hotel breakfast being like. The staff was very helpful.

Terrible. Rooms are old and outdated. Beds are like sleeping on a rock! the shower leaked, hair dryer did not work, soap/shampoo dispensers suck, towels and bed sheets are not comfortable, and customer/guest service was pretty cold. Decent location, and having AC that works are the only positives.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is not as modern as you might suspect from the photos, and the rooms are fairly basic. There is a nice pool and jacuzzi, and a rudimentary gym, although the latter is in a fairly odorous basement. The town itself is very pleasant with some good value places to eat, and many lovely beaches nearby. Overall, this was an average hotel, but vey handy for Santander and Bilbao.

Stayed overnight. Rooms roomy and comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Decent pool but would think it might not be big enough in the summer months. One minus no tea/ coffee makings in the rooms.

This hotel is situated in the small village of Argonos, near the Bay of Biscay. I had to take a bus from Santander, (1 hour away 3.95 euros). The staff were very helpful and the breakfast had a nice selection and the dinner was pretty good too. My single room was on the small size but the bathroom was big and the bed was comfortable. You can travel to the other nearby villages by taxi, Carlos seems to be the only one within the 30 mile radius. Taxi fare from Isla to Argonos (3 km) was 10 euros. You can also go cycling from town to town or by car. The villages are quaint and charming. Argonos has a lot of restaurants to choose from with daily menus at 9 to 12 euros. The weather was hot in August, but the breeze from the bay was wonderful.
