"Heidelberg’s most luxurious hotel is also one of its oldest. Run by the Kretschmann family since opening in 1865, the Europäischer Hof offers a welcoming mix of historic prestige and modern design. The public areas are dotted with early-20th-century furnishings, while the spacious guest rooms have been tastefully renovated; some of the suites come with whirlpool tubs. At the Kurfürstenstube restaurant, guests can choose to sit in the wood-paneled dining room, decorated with brass chandeliers and copper etchings of Heidelberg, or out on the lovely terrace overlooking the garden. Also on-site is the trendy Fritz restaurant for seasonal specialties, as well as a couple of bar and lounge areas. Hotel amenities range from babysitting services and business facilities to car rentals, luxury shops, and even a hair salon, plus a panoramic spa with a pool, sauna, and sun terrace with views of Heidelberg Castle."

Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg (Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Heidelberg has an unusually high concentration of hotels, thanks in part to the landmark Heidelberg Castle, which attracts a million visitors each year. The city’s most luxurious hotel, Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg, plays a part in that history: it first opened in 1865 to host aristocratic guests attending events at the nearby castle. Though it’s been expanded and modernized many times over, this grand old hotel has been run by the same family for over a century, and its elegant interiors — with rich woodwork, coffered ceilings, crystal chandeliers, heavy drapery, and period furnishings — evoke days gone by. Rooms and suites display a slightly more modern edge, featuring an ivory and gold color palette, dark wood flooring, linen duvets, brocade details, and a mix of antique and contemporary pieces. The hotel’s highlights include a light-filled indoor pool and rooftop sun deck and a retro-styled cocktail bar with wood-paneled ceilings and leather armchairs." - Tablet Hotels

Beautifully updated rooms in a classic hotel with superlative service across the board. Literally every point of contact is a pleasurable encounter. Every member of staff was kind and happy and the family that owns the hotel is delightful. All the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, the restaurant serves a remarkable dinner and the bar is top notch. The outdoor courtyard is relaxing and the gym, spa and pool areas are all spotlessly clean with every modern touch. Truly, a very special place.

This is one of our top favorite hotels. It is a very beautiful hotel in the center of Heidelberg, close to everything---shops, restaurants, boat tours, etc. The indoor spaces, especially the bar area, are beautifully impressive. It also has a spa, pool and gym on the top floor with views out to the castle. Our room was large, quiet and comfortable. As always, the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate twice in the Michelin star quality outdoor summer restaurant - wonderful selection of food and wine. Hope to return soon!

Our stay at the Europäischer Hof was nothing short of marvelous. Eveything was brilliant, the hotel in itself is beautiful, the rooms are gorgeous (and the bed was so comfortable). But what makes this property really shine is the staff in its entirety, everyone was perfectly pleasant and so nice with our dog, and of course completely professional. They really love what they do !||The breakfast was delicious and full of first class delicacies (and I'm really fastidiuous with hotel breakfasts), the cocktails at the bar are to die for, and the restaurant was a great discovery (we had two dinners instead of just one as we had originally planned).||We are frequently staying at top five stars proprties and this hotel is one of the best we've experienced so far. The only area where some (small) improvements can be made is the fitness room (I will admit I am difficult to satisfy), it was small but well equipped, however I was surprised that there were no water bottles for the guests, maybe it was just an oversignt.||In any case, I will definetely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a five star stay, and point in case, we have already booked a stay in April for my parents in law and for us to celebrate my father in law's 70th birthday !||Best regards

A traditional hotel of the very highest standards. Our second visit and it confirmed our memories of the first visit; exceptional. A beautiful, large suite. Beautifully furnished, a very comfortable bed. Delightful welcoming gifts were much appreciated. The breakfast was faultless in a wonderful dining room. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a delight to speak to the owner as we were leaving. Highly recommended for short or long stay.

What a classy hotel. From the moment we entered the hotel, I was struck by the beautiful decor. The lounge and bar are decorated in warm red and green colors with wood paneling. I thought the dinning area was preparing for a wedding. All the tables were covered with light green tablecloths and vases filed with delicate pink peonies. The bedroom was very comfortable. For breakfast, the hotel had everything you could possible want. You could select from the buffet or order from a menu. We had dinner at the hotel during our stay, and it was the best meal we had while in Heidelberg. You can eat indoors or eat outside in a beautiful garden area. The owner is at the hotel each morning and greets her guests. She is a stunning woman with attention to detail. Both she and her daughter are very personable. I can't imagine staying at any other hotel while in Heidelberg. We travel a lot, and it is one of the finest hotels we have ever stayed at while in Europe.

A Truly Exceptional Stay at Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Europäischer Hof in Heidelberg, and it was one of the finest hotel experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, professional, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail of my stay was perfect. The hotel itself is a beautiful blend of classic elegance and modern comfort. My room was spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated, with high-quality furnishings and thoughtful touches that made it feel like a true luxury retreat. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the quiet, peaceful atmosphere—ideal for a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast was a standout, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options served in a charming setting. The on-site spa and wellness facilities were also excellent, offering a serene escape in the heart of the city. Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly situated—within walking distance of Heidelberg’s historic old town, shops, and restaurants, yet just far enough to feel like a peaceful haven. In short, Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg offers top-tier hospitality in a truly elegant setting. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined and memorable stay in Heidelberg.

Upon arriving at this hotel we were met by a view of the outside eating area and a number of cars in the forecourt immediately outside the entrance. A fairly nondescript initial impression. However, once inside, everything changed!! Just past reception the lounge area contained sumptuous soft furnishings and crystal chandeliers. Our room (comfort double) was facing the inner courtyard and very quiet. It was frnished with light colours whih gave it a spacious airy atmosphere. The only constructive criticism we would give is that in the bathroom the very wide single handbasin perhaps could be replaced with 2, more practical, smaller basins. Also the central heating wasn't on and so we had to request a portable heater for the room. The Breakfast Room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Service here was very attentive and food quality ranked amongst the best hotel breakfasts we have ever experienced! Worth coming back just for breakfast! In the evenings we had drinks/dinner in the bar - which was beautifully laid out with wood ceiling/walling and soft lighting. Again the food was of very good quality (though perhaps not as exceptional as the breakfast). The hotel also has a fine dining restaurant which we didn't try. With one small exception, which we discussed with management, service was extremely professional. One has the impression that, in this family owned and managed business, service and customer satisfction is at the forefront of nearly everything they do It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for! This is one of only 2 or 3 hotels that would make us return to a location just to stay in the hotel again!

We travel often and have stayed in many lovely accommodations. This hotel is one of our favorites and we will absolutely be back to enjoy everything it has to offer in the near future. 10/10 on every front! We simply love it here.

Yelp
A historic upscale hotel located near Old Town (but on the opposite side of the water). A very long list of famous people have stayed here: from Winston Churchill to Jay-Z. It's located off of a one way street so can be slightly confusing to find the first time. They have their own court for drop off and there's a parking garage right next door. The first reaction is quiet elegance. That's your second and third reaction as well. The staff are very attentive and will book whatever you need. For an older hotel, the rooms are good size and well appointed (strong WiFi, small desk). The gym and pool are both excellent. The buffet breakfast is typical for a good European hotel. A nice selection of breads, cheeses, and meats with eggs available. You can get a custom coffee if you want. The hotel restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, covered for the rain or sun. The hotel is pricey but should be for the service. I gave it four stars but it's borderline 5.

Yelp
If you want a truly impeccable experience in Heidelberg, this is the hotel for you. It is a beautiful, traditional German atmosphere with a modern twist. Luxurious from the moment you walk in with the kindest, most humble and service-oriented staff. The food is delicious, rooms are clean and spa is great! I would highly recommend. It also is centrally located to shopping and attractions. I am grateful to the staff for making my experience in Germany wonderful!!

Yelp
An upscale German restaurant located in the centuries old historic five-star hotel bordering Old Town. It is here that Winston Churchill, Hitler and many other notable individuals, celebrities, and dignitaries have stayed including Jay Z. For that reason, Der Europasischer Hof hotel is steeped in history and is an important hotel to visit. The hotel is family owned and operated and has a great vibe. The hotel restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and is a welcome respite for those of us who prefer comfortable elegance, tranquility and calm in a sophisticated atmosphere away from the bustling crowd. The dining room is carpeted with linen tablecloths and fresh flowers on the table. The restaurant's Chef is Michelin Star worthy. The wine list is excellent. The bread is made off-site in a wood fired oven and is wonderful. We enjoyed traditional German dishes including White Asparagus in Hollandaise sauce, Butter Parsley Potatoes and Pork Scnitzel; all prepared to perfection and delicious. We also shared the Buffalo Mozzrella salad for a starter which was delicate, flavorful and excellent. You cannot go wrong here. Highly recommended. Reservations required.

Yelp
We absolutely love it here! We showed up with three young kids and we were greeted with toys as well as great service and comfortable beds.. Breakfast was amazing, as well as fresh flowers everywhere, great service, and a bar downstairs for my husband. This building is spectacular as well as the location!

Yelp
The Europaeischer Hof Heidelberg has earned every star and then some. Every time I stay there, the service and attention to detail is second to none. And most importantly it was like that the first time I stayed there when the hotel staff did not know me which is very unique and which is the reason I return there every time I go back to Heidelberg, my home town. The hotel is very well maintained and you can tell that a lot of care and attention is paid to every detail. The rooms are impeccable and if you need anything, the hotel will take care of it before you know it. Every communication with the hotel is very personalized and the staff goes out of the way to make you feel welcome and comfortable and is very accommodating. The hotel has all the amenities you could ask for (great gym and pool and spa), wonderful bar, excellent restaurant, and is ideally located in town. I can wholeheartedly recommend it and would choose the Europaeischer Hof over any large chain hotel and forfeit member points any day as you never get the same service, attention to detail and warm welcome that you get from the Europaeischer Hof in Heidelberg. It's a family owned and operated hotel that really cares for its staff and guests and you can tell - and it's worth supporting. I know I will return next time I travel back to Heidelberg and I am already looking forward to it.
