Hotel Excelsior

We had a lovely experience at Hotel Excelsior. The staff was very kind and helpfull. The rooms where well equipped (the beds where not amazing, only downside). The breakfast was adequate and honestly for the price we paid the value for money was insane. We came her in the low season and I would have gladely paid 50% more and still be happy about the quality od the experience. Also the location is very good. When you drive of the ferry you park the car and the hotel is there in the main road. The receptionist will tell you the highlites of La Maddalena and Caprera if you're interested and you can rent some beach towels if needed. Would highly recommend this hotel, it's budget friendly, staff is amazing, location is amazing. Beds could be better but for the price I cannot complain to much.

We stayed for 3 nights in July and it was fantastic. Everything was really clean, good rooms, good facilities, good breakfast good location and amazing staff, specially the reception girls, they were so helpful in absolutely everything we needed. Recommended 100%

Great place to lodge in La Maddalena! Nice rooms with air-condition, very friendly and helpfull people work here! Breakfast is tasty and offers quite some variety, not overwhelming though... All in all, you can't be in a more central spot, near the piers, Independence Square and Via Garibaldi - the main road - nearby busses take you across the island, bike and car-rentals are also close.

A very nice experience. Super nice staff that always was happy and kind and helpful. Felt very personal and caring. Location is really excellent in the center of the city la Madalena, just around the corner you have restaurants, bars and all sorts of shops. The hotel is newly refurbished and felt as a new hotel. We had a junior suite which had a lot of space, could easily be 3 in the room. Excellent air con, quiet and efficient. A very nice bath room, plenty of space, and super fresh, rain drop shower, and plenty of space to get rid of sand after a day at the beech. Break fast room with big windows that is opened in nice whether overlooking the harbour and the ferry station with ferries to the mainland Sardinia. If you arrive with the ferry the hotel is located just opposite the harbour, very convenient. If you stay more than just a few days I recommend you book a junior suite, it is much bigger than ordinary rooms, we stayed 1 wk, and was very happy with our choice. We believe the hotel provided very good value for money. We first planed to book a 5 star hotel, but after reviews and when we saw that the hotel was in the center, we selected Excelsior, and we are so happy we did. If we ever come back to la madalena, the choice is easy, we will stay at Excelsior. This 4 star hotel is much better than many of the 5 stars hotels that we have stayed at. Perfect location with extreme friendly staff! Room very small but bed is perfect. Breakfast at terrace overlooking the harbor. Also huge roof terrace

Room very good and clean, staff VERY friendly and smiling, very good spot, only thing i can say is the breakfast was a bit disappointing for a 4 stars but still acceptable. Good price .Highly recommended .

We stayed at Hotel Excelsior five years ago and had an amazing time, so naturally, we were excited to return this year with our 1.5-year-old son. Unfortunately, our trip didn’t go as planned, as our son fell seriously ill, and we ended up needing to cut our stay short after a hospital visit. However, even during this challenging time, the team at Hotel Excelsior went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our son’s care. Whether it was during the day or late at night, they were always ready to help, offering any support they could think of to make our stay a little easier. The level of attentiveness, compassion, and dedication to service was truly outstanding, and it made all the difference for us during a stressful time. Although our stay was shorter than planned, we are grateful for the incredible service and hospitality we experienced. We look forward to coming back one day under better circumstances, and we wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Excelsior to anyone looking for a place that genuinely cares for its guests.

This hotel is in a great location. Ferrys starts next door and services are nearby. Laundry, scooter rental, restaurants, ATM. The hotel is clean and luxuriously decorated. The service was especially warm, really nice, helpful and happy people in the reception! You can rent beach towels from the hotel and there is a sunbathing area on the roof of the hotel. The hotel's breakfast is really good. |The room is quite small but functional. The bed is good as is the pillow. The bathroom is clean but there is a little bad air conditioning and the shower cubicle is quite small. The room has adjustable air conditioning and a good refrigerator. The room is really clean, in good condition, (number 100), and the balcony is in a location where it's nice to watch the cars coming and going to the ship and people passing by on this busy street.

Excellent hotel that was recently (2012) renovated. They offer nice rooms, can send out your laundry, and serve a nice breakfast on the roof with great harbor views. The hotel is centrally located right off the ferry. It easily had the largest bathrooms in any Italian hotel I have stayed in (which isn't saying much). It is also very close to a bank and an ATM that works with my American bank cards. I lived in the area a while ago and speak a little Italian (Sardo-Italian), which was plenty to speak to the hotel staff. Nobody seemed English fluent, but everyone on the staff was friendly and communication wasn't a problem (same goes for the whole island). One drawback: the staff are mostly not from the area and work seasonally, so if you ask for advice on the local area or businesses they don't have much in the way of good advice there. The island imports large numbers of seasonal workers in the summer who don't know much about where things are or know much about other businesses in La Madd. I will stay here again.
