Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort

Sadly I’m currently trying to locate two jewellery items that were , let’s say, not in our room at departure .The hotel are very dismissive about this .||||Additionally our privacy was invaded when two staff members entered our room on our last morning, albeit with a do not disturb sign being present. Rather than apology, the response was dismissing - stating by email that couldn’t have happened.||I’ve asked them to check their own cctv to see this event . It only goes to show me that even when I absolutely know what happened they will ignore a first hand witness and try to gaslight me. We shall see what the final response is.|| It’s very upsetting a sad that the trip I arrange for my husband to celebrate a special event is overshadowed. The birthday surprise didn’t happen, I had to request it to happen a day late, even after emailing and discussing at check in. Unlucky on all sides we feel. ||||Let’s start with the positive. Beautiful arrival at the hotel across the waters into a private boat entrance. We had a Venice view suite and the room , freshly restored, was comfortable and spacious. ||||The Blue bar is very expensive for food and drinks, we stay in some beautiful hotels around the world, this may take the prize for how much a plate of pasta could be. That said the food was delicious. Breakfast was enjoyable and we didn’t have any issues unlike some other reviews. ||||The beaches close mid September , so no cabanas but lido was an interesting place to have a walk around. Complementary boat to San Marco very helpful. Trip to Murano also interesting , however the cost to buy any items at the island is hiked 400% more than in Venice. Don’t forget customs & vat and admin means there’s a 40%+ cost upon its arrival in UK If you go ahead. ||||On our final day after checkout the hotel kept our bags and we had a tour with lady duty manager as to hotel history, she was a delight and we had only hoped she would have been our lasting feeling about the hotel and Venice. Sadly not.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast was outstanding. We dont do reviews but we wanted to post it this time as the staff really deserves it, from the reception, to the concierge desk, and the pier team, everyone made us feel at home. We stayed for 3 nights and the concierge made us a fantastic itinerary, offering options out of the box as foraging in the Sant erasmo island, or going for a morning in the market, and play golf at the Lido (yes there is a golf course in venice also a very nice tennis facility right across the hotel). This is our third visit to Venice, and it felt like the first time. Staying at Lido and going to Venice for restaurants or art, is the best thing to do if is not your first visit. Lido has a great beach as well, and lots os things to do. We will be back. We stayed here on our last leg of our honeymoon for 2 nights, they upgraded us to (presidential suite) the most beautiful room with a balcony. We were so so grateful for that little surprise, we also had a bottle of champagne, cookies, and a platter of fruit to enjoy! The only downside was the bed and pillows, it was our first hotel we have stayed at during our two week stay in Spain and Italy that the bed was uncomfortable and pillows were hard and flat. For how expensive this place is, I was just a little surprised at that. Also the food and drink prices are a little extreme, they charge €8 per person just to sit down, €10 for a soda, and €30 (I think it was) for a club sandwich with a very limited menu available before 7pm. We arrived around 3pm starving from our travel day and normally had no issue at least getting food at the hotels we stayed at but after seeing the prices and limited menu we decided to find somewhere else to eat. We ended up walking towards the water taxi station and found the best food at a restaurant there for a fraction of the price. All in all, we enjoyed our stay in Lido and the hotel staff were wonderful!

Buffet breakfast not very hot and not much choice, expected to pay extra for an omelette, which is not something I’ve ever experienced in any other hotel. Price of food and drinks were bordering on extortionate. The service in the rooms was poor, we constantly had to ask for tea and coffee to be replaced. Our room privacy was invaded and when we reported the issue they said they had investigated fully with no fault found, basically calling us liars. The atmosphere in the hotel was far from friendly or sociable, staff barely communicated with guests. This was our third visit in 10 years and we noticed a massive drop off in standards and quality. In short this is never a 5*L hotel. I could go on but I don’t wNt to waste anymore time on it.

How this dump could be considered a 5 star L hotel is beyond belief. Held hostage at what I know refer to as the VENICE FLY TRAP hotel. Beautiful images of hotel on their website. Complete dump inside. Completely dated decor probably from the 70's. All the carpets are stained throughout all common areas of hotel as well as the guest rooms. Doors, moldings and baseboards all chipped and lacking paint. Some serious deferred maintenance is needed. Actually a complete renovation is needed. Shower flooded bathroom every time I took a shower. House keeping never wiped anything down in the bathroom or main room. There was no turn down service Rude staff wouldn't honor my reservation for a room with balcony. Basically told me I never made a reservation for room with balcony. Told me I needed to show them proof in writing . I had to have my travel agent track down in writing the room I reserved . Being 8 hours behind time wise it was 3:00 am for my travel agent. All I wanted to do was leave. They wouldn't let me have a credit for the room . The room in question was $5000.00 for a four night stay. after showing them proof in writing with a picture of a room with a balcony they still wouldn't give me a credit. They just gave me a dated, carpet stained, beat up room with a balcony. No apology no comp no nothing. Buyer beware Basically the worst hotel experience I ever had. Buyer be ware

What an amazing hotel. So beautiful inside and out. The staff are amazing and couldn't be more helpful and friendly from check in to check out. We were upgraded to a refurbished room (thank you) which was spacious and beautifully decorated with a very good sized bathroom that had a bath and overhead and held hand shower.Coffee machine and kettle in room with coffee pods, milk pods and complimentary waters and snacks. Also a complimentary bottle of prosecco. Rooms were always cleaned well daily. The breakfast was very good also with cereals, cooked breakfast, cooked meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruits and pastries. Fresh bread also and fruit juices. The restaurant staff were so welcoming and friendly. I didn't get everyone's names but Sara and Donatello mostly served us and were a delight. The gentleman on the buffet selection was especially helpful in helping me choose a coffee. Now to the ouside areas. So spacious and so many different areas to sit and relax in. The pool was heated and very large with towels provided and a lifeguard on duty. The complimentary shuttle boat was a bonus and the staff at the shuttle were very helpful as were the boat drivers . Very understanding and patient with a nervous sailor! All in all the stay was a very memorable experience . Oh, forgot the hotel tour with Roberta! Sorry Roberta. It was fascinating and Roberta was an excellen and informative guide and also made the tour fun. Would certainly recommend this hotel

Well, we were kind of stranded there with our kayaks, at the end of the property and tried to find a way out for visiting the Lido, but there was no way besides asking for letting us leave this wonderful place through walking through the Lobby in our "kayaking or outdoor clothes". I am very sorry for this inconvenience and want to express my deepest thankfulness for your politeness to let us leave our kayaks in your property during our visit. Furthermore for you just lifting an eyebrow while we passed the lobby. It's not that easy in and around Venice to get out off a kayak and leave it safe. So this was really a wonderful gesture of your Hotel and the employees. Thank you so much. 🙏

We have stayed at the Hotel Excelsior Venice for two nights after a busy 3 days in Venice. The Lido is the opposite comparing to Venice, more chill, but with lots of shops and restaurants, without the huge traffic of tourists. The team at the hotel bar is very kind and the cocktails were great! The room was one of the renovated ones and we had a great sleep. I cannot wait to be back in the summer.

Fantastic experience at the Hotel Excelsior!!! The rooms are elegant and comfortable, and their poolside pizza is extravagant!!! Water taxis can transfer you back and forth between the hotel and San Marcos Square throughout the day and into the evening.

Love this hotel, service, size of room, and view is exceptional. Dinner at their oceanfront restaurant is amazing with great service. The fish for two was yummy!

This is not 5-star quality. The room was aging, carpet stained, paint chipping, and everything smelled horribly like decades of cigarette smoke. The doors to the "balcony" are chain locked. The courtyard is also locked from guests. The food was decent but ridiculously expensive. Like $34 for a bowl of average pasta. The whole place had the feel of an outdated Las Vegas hotel. Zero amenities in the room, not even coffee. The noise from the street below kept waking me up in the night. At least half of the staff members were rude, dismissive, and wholly unconcerned with providing a positive guest experience. The beach was nice and we rented a cabana for a day which was lovely--but again poor service and crazy prices. I do not recommend and would not stay here again.

Romantic, beautiful hotel. Good breakfast too! Very accommodating to children. Lots of seashells to be found on the hotel beach. Great place to watch the sunset...

At $400 per night this was one of the most uncomfortable headboards I have found in a hotel. The beds and bedding are very comfortable as is the room size. The view of Venice is outstanding over the treetops however the cost to arrive from the train station is €95 per way. The restaurants and room service are five star and reflect five star prices with breakfast starting at €36 per person. The real cost of a night stay is 700 dollars.

This place is listed as a 5-star hotel, but I have stayed at many, and Excelsior is not of the same caliber. It's very outdated, the bathrooms are very small and basic and the breakfast buffet is mediocre. The food at the restaurant is average but very overpriced, as is the entire hotel. The pool area is really nice.

This hotel is STUNNING...however, if you are traveling to Lido from Venice for the day - stay away from their buffet. It's mediocre at best - especially for the approx. $100 per adult or child that you pay for... Even for Venice standards, this is a joke!! By all means, do check out the hotel - it is majestic..

Stayed late May for a 4-day getaway. I very often stay in hotels for work, so was very disappointed with the Excelsior. Upsides: Very luxurious hotel: great location on the beach, boat service to San Marco throughout the day, clean, well equipped. Downsides: some of the staff couldn't possibly be more miserable and rude. Not one smile, and some staff have the manners of a spoiled child. It's a nice hotel, so niceties are pricey, but expect to be charged for every little thing. Want to sit down at the bar? €10pp. Looks like it's complimentary, don't believe it! Nothing is included. The boat/shuttle service runs inconsistently. It'll arrive randomly and immediately leave. No room service, but you can order items from the bar menu. Very little nearby, so you'll have to go (very) far afield to try a different restaurant. TV has no decent English TV channels. Maybe one American and one UK news channel.

This is a review of the Hotel Excelsior restaurant/bar and pool area. I didn't stay as a guest, but did stop in to eat and rent one of their umbrella/beach chair combos. Gotta say.. they have an amazing property, service/staff is really attentive and friendly, but the food is awful. For the price, it should be amazing. We tried the basics for lunch, a burger with a Mai Tai, and a club sandwich with a Bloody Mary. Honestly, we had better drinks at the little hole in the wall bar next to the bus stop at the Lido ferry landing for less than half the price. The wording and the presentation were top notch, but the food should have been billed as cafeteria quality with blue ribbons as decoration. The burger meat was extremely salty and though it was described as some special beef, it had definitely been frozen. The club sandwich was ok, but any deli could match that for half the price. The fries had been frozen, too, as it seems to be typical at many Italian restaurants. But.. Seriously.. Why? Why not freshly-made fries? Take a potato and put it through a slicer and into the frier.. it's not difficult! And the taste difference is tremendous! I read other reviews complaining about the food so I think it's something this hotel needs to step up a bit. The place looks great. Too bad they don't pair that with a great culinary experience.

A true five-star hotel. It is amazing how well the staff here accommodates all travelers. We were here with our family for my daughter's University honors trip. My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here. We had a room with a balcony that was exquisite. In all its glory the Excelsior was able to refurbish the hotel to its prime celebrity status it once held for numerous decades. During our stay the grounds were being spruced up the for the summer season. The beachfront was unbelievably well manicured it had seashells beyond belief for one to take for souvenirs. The menu for breakfast was extensive, with fresh sweet fruit, cereals Bread, cheese, ham, sausage, bacon and the staff was very attentive and we were glad we spent our first four days in Lido versus Venice. My father once lived here 40 years ago and the people and vendors were very kind and sincere. If you want to come to Venice and you're not on a sea cruise come Lido's Excelsior has a water taxi at no charge to take you back-and-forth to St. Mark's Square. Every meal from breakfast lunch and dinner was well prepared was excellent tasted fantastic the service was superior, Excelsior Hotel her and it's five-star I can't talk enough about it. If you are going to spend in Italy make sure you spend the last few days on the island of Lido. Get a room with a balcony overlooking the Adriatic Sea the views at sunrise are wonderful and at night although there are mosquitoes you can still open your balcony French doors and hear the ocean crashing on the sandy beaches and just imagine the rest of the world melting away.

Stunning Motel with beautiful large rooms and amazing pool area. It's like a palace....Amazing large gym area,Staff are super friendly, all that you would expect from a 5 star Motel. Only thing that stops it from a perfect 5/5 is the cost to eat there is ridiculous. Everything seems twice the price or more than other places. We had to leave the motel to eat in the end as it was just too expensive. I'd defiantly stay there again but I'd be prepared to travel to eat at meal times.
