The staff are very kind and hospitable. When we booked, we asked for a room with a pool and sea view, but we were given a view of the taxi drop-off area. I went to bed crying because we had not been away for almost three years! We saved and saved for this holiday. The next day, my husband spoke to the receptionist, and they agreed to change our room to one on the second floor with the views we originally requested. However, we had to pay £300 more. As it was only the second day, we gritted our teeth and paid the difference. When we went to the pool area at 3pm, we were sitting on the beds, and a waitress approached us, saying that the beds are reserved or hired, and that it would be 20 euros a day. We only started using them at 3pm and left at 5pm to get ready for our evening meal starting at 7:30. We were so disgusted! Surely we didn’t need to pay for two hours? We looked at the à la carte menus, and there was nothing that took our fancy, so we tried the buffet, which was equally appalling. The next morning, we took a taxi to Yumbo to enjoy a welcoming breakfast at Windsor Garden — at last, something delicious with staff offering excellent customer service. In the evenings, at Faro Hotel, there was lively instrumental music, but when ordering a drink, the service was painfully slow! Why can’t they employ more bar staff to speed things up? It cost us three to four thousand euros for slow service and filthy sun-loungers. Why don’t they have a pool bar where you can go and buy a drink? You can order from all the grumpy waitresses, but then you wait and wait for your change. Why is it so slow? Thankfully, Maximilian which are down the road offered first-class service, with advice on food and drink, friendliness, and beautifully presented dishes. This was followed by excellent entertainment at Cafe Del Mar, with again superb entertainment, service and a wonderful selection of cocktails and beers, served politely and swiftly. Hotel Faro could greatly improve their services by learning to be as professional as Maximilian and Cafe Del Mar. Faro Hotel might also improve their reputation by employing a more diverse range of staff, rather than solely those aged 18–30. Lastly, Faro, please sort out your lifts. I have a slight disability in my right leg, so when only one lift is working, it is very problematic. The lift doors are filthy, and the corridor carpets are dirty. The washbasin in the bedroom is annoying — a health and safety issue as water drips onto the floor. What if someone slips? Faro Hotel has been two weeks of disappointment.
