The Faubourg (pronounced: Foh-Boh) Hotel is a perfect hotel for travelers. Reasonably priced, centrally located and filled with international guests. But my favorite part was the breakfast buffet. Fresh fruit, waffle irons, scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon.. everything. I love to have a big meal before a busy day of sightseeing.

Trust the other 1 star reviews you see, this place is NOT clean. We stayed last week for 3 days while visiting family, and the rooms had very dirty carpets and the washroom had literal mold. I will try to update this review with pictures from my wife's phone. We tried to bring this up with front staff but got an awkward reply, so decided to leave it alone. I understand that the price is good and location is great, so if those are priorities, then go ahead, otherwise maybe look elsewhere. Oh, the breakfast is actually very good. It's definitely a highlight (esp the waffles).

I would recommend this hotel. It was a lot more than I was expecting for the price. The room was actually basically an apartment with living room and kitchenette. There were some upkeep issues with the room nothing major, but there was kitchen cabinetry used in the bathroom, which means it has started to warp. There were light switches that seem to do nothing and not be connected to any lights. The coffee maker was not working, and the child protective locks really prevented enjoyment of the Juliet balcony. The location was great near Chinatown, the University, old town and the pier among other districts. There are some shady, looking streets nearby the hotel, though best to stick to the main street at night. The breakfast that was offered complementary was nearly buffet sized. Offering toast, bagels, cereals, fruit, yogurt, eggs, a meat variety, baked beans, tea, coffee, and juices. It was much nicer than I was expecting it to be.

** According to the owner’s response regarding the water, if that’s the case, it would be better to remove the bottled water from the pictures in your advertisement. The room was very outdated and had an unpleasant smell. The fridge was also not clean. There were no amenities such as vanity items, slippers, or bottled water. The TV remote in the bedroom didn’t work. The air conditioning was extremely loud, so we had to turn the fan down, but then it became hot and uncomfortable. I personally felt uneasy with the mirror placed directly in front of the bed. The room was poorly lit, which made it feel even more unsettling. On our first night, when we returned to the room after going out, the closet door opened by itself. We tried to think positively and assumed it was because of the wind. The housekeeping staff did not speak English, and the evening front desk staff were not friendly. Breakfast was average — there were no labels for the food, and hygiene was lacking. For example, the tongs were placed directly on the counter. The only good thing about this hotel was its location. You can walk to Chinatown, and it’s close to a bus stop where you can take the 747 bus to and from the airport 24 hours a day.

Look elsewhere this hotel terrible service with fault information. We booked a room with kitchenette - from the definition of a kitchenette is to have a smaller size kitchen with small stove-top. We didn't get the stove-stop so we verify with the front desk staff (elderly man with white hair - evening staff). His arrogant tone and said "kitchen" have stove-top and the hotel is full. We already have issue with the credit card method where they used the old school method to swipe the credit card - because one of our credit card the swipe line damaged so the swipe reader couldn't process. The staff insisted that we have to swipe the card rather than charge manually. The staff is really rude and his tone just annoyed. We used another credit card to check in. We had a few more questions but we didn't bother to ask because the old man just grumpy. There's another younger female staff, she literally ignores you. Breakfast flow is insane!!! The breakfast area is small and the chaos starts early. Whoever dining manager is should experience the traffic flow. Where the plate stationed that's where the line starts. However, there's another station on the other side. If this signage to show the other side have the same set up. The traffic flow would be much for deficiency. The staff is no where to be find after the first set up. Most of the food ran out quickly - staff take their slow sweet time to refill while there's a long long line up. Tables are dirty. The room is very old with patched of fixer upper. The shower water pressure is sooooooo weak. Our toilet, every time we flush it makes this farting sound for 5 minutes. Imagine when you're sleeping and someone is using the washroom in the middle of the night. We will NOT or recommend anyone to this hotel. The one extra star is for the housekeeping staff, they are amazing and very polite.

Great location, very central and everything is in walking distance. The rooms are massive and very clean. Staff is very helpful, it took one small request and our bed frame was changed immediately! They're respectful and super friendly. I will be staying there again!

Mixed Experience – Great Location and Staff, But Cleanliness Needs Improvement I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location is excellent—very central and convenient for exploring the area. The staff were quite friendly and helpful, always willing to assist and make the stay more comfortable. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. The baseboards were covered in dust, the bathroom wasn’t thoroughly cleaned, and there was hair stuck in the corners, which was off-putting. Additionally, the carpet had an unpleasant smell, especially noticeable after taking a shower, which made the room feel less hygienic overall. With some attention to cleanliness, this hotel could easily become a top choice given its location and wonderful staff. I hope management takes this feedback seriously.

The hotel room was good and spacious, but I don't recommend upgrading your room with the pull out bed. It is so uncomfortable and impossible to sleep in. Not only did the bed have blood stains on it (gross) but all you felt is the springs in your back. If you're going to make guests pay for an upgrade, it should be an upgrade, not a downgrade.||Breakfast was good with lots of options, like eggs, sausage, toast, yogurt and hash browns. ||I did mention at check out how I was dissapointed with the bed that I paid extra for, and didn't even use, and she just said sorry about that. I felt they didn't even care. It wasn't about the extra $13 dollars I paid for the room, it more for principle. Paid $410 for a one night stay at the hotel, wasn't really worth it. The only advantage is it's local and close to downtown.
