FeelViana Sport Hotel, Viana do Castelo, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Tucked into the Cabedelo forest, fringing the Atlantic, this sleek and understated hotel has a beautiful restaurant, beach bar, spa and a plethora of activities for couples and families alike. The focus is on health and play, in a peaceful, woodsy setting that’s at once communal and secluded. Think: Dirty Dancing’s ‘Mountain Lake Lodge’, but much, much cooler, and instead of ‘80s hair and group salsa lessons, there’s windsurfing, wakeboarding, yoga and cocktails by the ocean. FeelViana has a range of rooms, suites and little bungalows, all simple but stylish, with private terraces surrounded by fragrant pines. From here, it’s just a short, cinematic walk through the trees, along the boardwalk to the beach. You can dive into ocean-bound experiences like kite-surfing, paddleboarding or wing foiling, take a spin around their pump track, or join a class in their gym before splashing into the pool. For little adventurers, there’s a kids' club with activities, educational games and creative exploration: a win for the whole family. Highs With its own sports centre offering classes and equipment, a wake park, bike rental and even a pump track, there’s no chance of boredom It's just a 5-min walk to the beach (200m away) or an easy drive into the town of Viana do Castelo Every room has its own private terrace - perfect for tranquil mornings with a coffee With a kids club and babysitting, it's the perfect spot for active families Lows This is a family retreat, so expect some noise around the pool and the restaurant, though the spa is adults only from 4pm The indoor pool is small and the outdoor pool is unheated We hear the restaurant is casual and the breakfast canteen-like" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

Summary:|+ Beautiful rooms (clean, modern, spacious)|+ Friendly and helpful staff|+ Great bike selection and tour recommendation|+ Awesome location for gravelling|+ High-quality breakfast buffet and dinner (half-board)|+ Quiet location|- Located a bit away from the city center, in an industrial and residential zone.|||The hotel’s location is somewhat ambiguous. On one hand, it is very close to the beach, accessible via a two-minute walk along a wooden path. On the other hand, it is situated between an industrial zone and a residential area. Aside from the beach, there isn’t much else to do nearby. Viana do Castelo can be reached by foot, bike, or car via the nearby road bridge. I did not use public transport, but Uber is available for getting around. ||The hotel features a warm and welcoming style, with friendly staff eager to assist. The rooms are spacious and inviting, each with its own balcony and air conditioning. The hotel also has a restaurant open to both guests and the public, serving high-quality food and breakfast. I highly recommend booking half-board, which includes dinner and breakfast. The spa area is modest but includes a small heated indoor pool, a sauna, and a steam bath. Overall, the spa and gym are conveniently located for relaxation, though they are nothing special.||I booked the Scott gravel adventure package, which includes bike rental and half-board, and I can strongly recommend it. The options can be customised, for example, if you wish to have a local tour guide (minimum 2 people). The staff at the bike center are very helpful with technical questions and can suggest excellent bike tours in the area. If you’re interested in gravel cycling, please note that the terrain here is a wild mix of fast sandy tracks along the coast and MTB-like trails in the nearby mountains. The mountain trails are more technically challenging, but the tours are truly fantastic. I cannot comment on the water sports offered by the hotel. When arriving by car, there is a large parking area in front of the hotel with many charging stations for electric vehicles. Overall, the hotel is a lovely place to spend your holiday and is suitable for solo travellers and families.||Tip: If you plan to arrive via Porto airport, the hotel offers a transfer for 140€ one way. However, using an Uber from the airport is much cheaper and widely advertised throughout, with a central pick-up station. Look out for Uber adverts on the floor of the luggage hall, as they often offer extra discounts. This way, your transfer to and from the hotel will cost around 30-80€ each way.

Absolutely fantastic! We were a family of 3 on a bungalow and had had the best family holiday! Staff were beyond helpful, friendly and considerate. Food was gorgeous, healthy, tasty and great variety. My husband windsurfed everyday, I kitesurfed and did yoga, my 4 year old made friends, enjoyed every bit of the hotel and beaches. Will return, 100%

FeelViana has been the perfect place for a family trip focused on riding experience. Hotel and nature around are beautiful, great services and facilities available. The spot offers both beginner and advanced riding conditions so the full family can enjoy the ocean. Management demonstrated genuine customer first values. Thanks!

Nice hotel for sporty people, good food, polite staff, especially at the watersport center. However, the place lakes a „chef“ that gives the place a face. We were there for one week, but no manager / director was ever present. Another point to improve: it´s annoying that people from the beach (often with water sport equipment / in wet suits) have to cross the Terrasse / Lounge to get to their room. It´s cheese, that you get charged with some extra coins, if you ask for some little extras during dinner - if really needed, increase the overall price instead.

The hotel itself is nice and the staff are friendly. However, it was quite unpleasant that disinfectant was being sprayed in the dining area during meal times. The strong smell was off-putting and made it hard to enjoy the food - the spray inevitably ends up on the food. Hygiene is important, of course, but this should be done outside of dining hours.

Amazing overall experience! Room was very cosy with wood all around and super high quality sheets and comfy bed - I would come back just for that 😆 The location is great, close to the beach and there is enough space to walk around. We really liked the Spa area and it was heated enough (for the first time!) so when you leave the pool you don’t start shivering (note: there could be more signs to close the door after leaving sauna so the heat doesn’t go out). Massage experience was nice as well. We found the restaurant area nicely decorated and staff was polite and helpful, though meals are a bit overpriced for what you get. Great breakfast with everything you could ask for - pancakes and fresh juice were a highlight. The main con for us was coffee. We tried both machines during breakfast and it was bad. We didn’t try any sports as we had a short stay but I would be happy to come back to experience the full package!
