"The Beatles stayed here. Cary Grant stayed here. The Spanish royal family has even stayed here, in their own home city. Can there be any better endorsement? A grande dame in a city known for drama and extravagance, the Gran Meliá Fénix is exactly the kind of traditionally luxe hotel every European capital needs. An imposing structure presiding over one of Madrid ’s main avenues, the hotel’s first impression is topped only by its second: a columned marble lobby worthy of a palace, filled with elegant Louis XVII chairs and crowned with a stained-glass dome. Rooms exude Old World splendor, while Red Level suites take the royal residence atmosphere to the next level, with over-the-top service that includes a private lounge with an open bar, free breakfast, and a private balcony overlooking the city—even though many of the top suites also have scenic private terraces with hot tubs. As with all opulent institutions, even nonresidents participate in the hotel’s ritzy society scene, courtesy of its acclaimed, art deco–styled brasserie and sultry cocktail bar where, if you order a martini, you’ll receive a numbered certificate in accordance with the automated martini counter over the bar. But, with a scene like this, most guests here don’t worry about counting their martinis."

Great hotel. Rooms were on smaller side but decorated quite nicely and beds were comfortable and had all the amenities from bar soap to washcloths, robes/slippers, etc. Staff was quite welcoming from when we arrived by taxi until our check-out. It was a great value given how luxury it felt. Would certainly recommend!

Such a beautiful, grand, and elegant hotel of Madrid. Its charm is beguiling as soon as you step out in front of Hotel Fénix Gran Meliá. The service and staff go far and beyond just helpful. They personalize their efforts to what each guest requires. The “Red Level” is the finest means to bring about extraordinary experiences to the rest, relaxation and rejuvenation required after a long effort filled day in Madrid, Spain.

The location is ideal, a lot of places around to eat, to see. It is very quiet, the food is luxurious. Extremely good service in the hotel. I had one big minus, the signal on my phone was nearly 0, and I was trying to use wi-fi. It also very bad in the room(may be it was my room/floor). Finally I was able to do the meeting, and they printed documents for me, it was very convenient. This hotel is unforgettable. It was unexpected to receive a small welcoming gift from the hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Complimentary room upgrade upon check in, bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Jean Paul was awesome! Very kind to us and gave recommendations in the surrounding area. Room was very clean. Location was great as well, pretty much everything you needed in walking distance

A five star hotel with ten star service. Every single staff member gave above and beyond service. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. We had the largest rooms, but they were still very large by European standards. The drinks at the bar, tapas, and breakfast are all exceptional. The hotel is in a luxury area, but is about 15 minutes from most of the sites you want to visit. But, Uber is fast and cheap in Madrid. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing welcome by Jose Louis, he made us feel extremely welcome as soon as he opened the car door. The hotel gave great vibes from the time we stepped into the foyer. Andrea was extremely helpful, informative and warm. She informed us of everything the hotel had to offer and provided a great recommendation for dinner. Excited to be staying here!

Great location and truly amazing staff who made our stay special—Carmen at reception was outstanding, warm, and always ready to help with a smile. The service overall felt genuine and welcoming. The only downside is that the rooms are quite small and feel a bit dated, but the excellent staff and prime location more than made up for it. Would happily stay again!

Great hotel, very classic and fancy! The rooms are good, the bathroom is a little bit small and the outlets and lights are outdate (but it looks like they are remodeling), but everything works fine and is clean! The hotels looks very nice, service was great! Breakfast was very good, great buffet! The location is also good, very calm and within 5 minutes by car to Gran Via!
