Hotel Fljótshlið and Smáratún Farm Eco-Lodges

My boyfriend and I came in our campervan during a storm. It was a spontaneous decision due to the weather. The hotel is out of the main road, but its facilities more than made up for it. The cooking area + lounging room were cozy, warm, well-equipped and clean. This was definitely a winner for me! The staff was nice. The check-in was done at the hotel reception. There weren't many other campers so we had no trouble finding a spot with electricity. There are 2 bathroom "containers" next to the kitchen ; each container has one shower and one toilet stall. They were all clean. All in all, this was one of my favourite camping spots!

Stayed here with an Intrepid tour. The rooms were warm and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, especially loved the fresh bread and homemade skyr. Really appreciated the variety of plant based milks for coffee. We also got extremely lucky and caught an amazing display of the Northern lights.

Camping, 6900isk for 2 persons & electricity. 2x shower and toilets. Clean and well kept. Small and quiet location which was great. Pleasant welcome from reception and pointed in the right direction. Good potential for Northern lights due to surrounding darkness

It says in the description that the hotel has a restaurant but when we arrived the only dishes available were just 2 types of soup.... that s just not caring at all for tourists. We were woken up really early by the sound of furniture shifting, probably cleaning rooms really early. Breakfast also very basic. We were also told the lobby will be closed so we could not even enjoy the pool table after "dinner" .... this is more of a farm stay but can t be called a proper hotel with a proper restaurant.

I rented a cabin. Its was a great size but the wood and logs are getting rustic. I mean they could have painted so it's more appealing to look at. It was okay but I believe the bed sheets may have not be cleaned enough. I am fine with the location except it's a bit off road and when I drive to road 261 to it, that was fine. But in the morning taking road 250 it wasn't asphalt and the worst road I driven.

Camping with a tent. Only a couple other campers, which is rare for a great camping. Campingground is behind some trees, so the wind did not bother us. Kitchen is big and has everything you might need. Two hot showers. Overall we enjoyed it here!

Well maintained space with beautiful views in a serene environment. Incredible sights in the local area. Delicious food from the farm straight to the table. Staff was friendly and eager to help. Albert was an excellent host and made us feel welcomed and cared for.

We stayed on a group tour with the hope of seeing the lights with no light pollution. Sadly, too cloudy. Great welcome by the manager, super cheery woman! Awesome food, the evening buffet was fab and they were so good with my GF and DF dietary requirements, I could still have over half the options. Ditto with breakfast. Bought an Icelandic jumper knitted by local lady. They had a few on a clothes rail and encouraged you to try them on. Room good size but pretty basic and REALLY soft beds, like a trampoline! Was fine for one night.
