Quite an old fashioned hotel conveniently located right next to station . Very firm on 3pm check in time like everywhere. Smooth check in and a man took our luggage up to second floor . Our room was small and packed with two couches and a table as well as the desk . It overlooked train line which was a worry but trains stop around midnight and are surprisingly quiet before then. Deep bath in the bath room good for a soak . Cotton robe / nightwear provided . Dinner choices at hotel restaurant were limited choice but adequate for a quick meal after travelling. All very clean . Free parking out the back of the hotel . Two washing/drying machines on 1st floor near reception.

A really good small hotel. This hotel is located literally next door to Kakunodate JR station. It is an easy walk to the Samurai Village streets in Kakunodate. Rooms are large (by Japanese standards) and very comfortable. Added bonus is you can do train spotting from the window. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel (it was raining at night so didn't feel like venturing out). Both meals were good. Really enjoyed the stay here.

It is a no-frills hotel right by the train station, so it is super convenient. The rooms are small bit clean and get the job done if you are just looking for somewhere to put your head down for the night. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the more central parts of the town. The rooms are soundproof so no noise from the trains.

Very nice and clean hotel next to Shinkansen station. There is a restaurant inside the building which also does the breakfast. There is a convenience store in the station which is also very useful, I will definitely use again in Kakunodate!

We stayed for 3 nights, 2 full days. Day 1 Smile Railway, day 2 Samurai Street and looking at the shops. It was beautiful all covered in snow. The hotel is nice and close to the station, but we didn't notice any train noises.

Fabulous little hotel. Due to a last minute work cancellation I needed to change plans and the hotel was so accommodating and helpful. I appreciate your kindness very much. I will return to stay again. Thank you very much.

Very conveniently located next to Kakunodate station. Nice hotel with great service and food! Must eat lunch or dinner at their restaurant at least once! Specialty food in the area is Oyako-don! There is a nearby public onsen with a cat nearby too!

As others have said, this hotel is conveniently located just a few steps from the railway station. We had a friendly welcome at check in. Our room was quite small but perfectly adequate - quiet and comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner. There are not many other choices in Kakunodate. Fortunately we booked a table for dinner when we checked in. The restaurant is very small and has a limited menu - mainly noodle dishes. There was a sign saying that dinner was exclusively for hotel guests but when we arrived for dinner they were turning away prospective guests who had not reserved a table. Breakfast was served in the same restaurant. There may have been a wait if all the tables were full but we were accommodated right away. There was a reasonable choice including Japanese and Western food. The coffee was very good. It is an easy walk to the Samurai area and the river. There are some restaurants near the Samurai house street but not sure if any are open for dinner.
