Hotel Fondavela

Tranquil, beautiful environment, great staff. We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Fondavela. From the moment we arrived through to checkout the staff were all fantastic. The location was very peaceful with beautifully tended gardens and lawns rolling down the hillside. Well-maintained paths linked reception to the bedrooms, restaurant, bar and swimming pool areas. Our room was a great size, clean, high ceilings and very comfortable beds. The windows at the end of the room allow sunlight in at dawn and a nice way to start the day with the sounds of wildlife surrounding the hotel site. Food here was varied and fresh. Breakfast consisted of a cooked menu plus a buffet of fruits, breads, pastries and coffee/juice. There is an American style bar with standard bar foods plus some Costa Rican choices. The pool area was clean, spacious and both pool and hot tubs are heated. There is a large changing room area underneath the pool but we changed in our room and walked the short distance to the pool. The bar in the pool area serves drinks and staff very happy to help. Fondavela was such a great place to stay, with the staff being a particular highlight.

My mom and I loved our stay at the Fondavela hotel. We had plenty of space in our room, some lovely agouti's in the backyard and from the teracce of the restaurant a beautiful view especially for the sunsets. I had a lovely chat with the manager who even remembered my name. We received a little tour at the beginning of our stay which was great as well. I had my laundry done and it smelled great and was done in a timely manner. Food and also drinks were delicious. The pool was clean and the hotubs were great to relax in. All of the staff did a great job and once more we were demonstrated how kind the ticos are. Thank you for a great stay,.

Service was excellent. We had to get a room last minute, late at night, unexpectedly because our Airbnb was broken into. The young man working the front counter was about to leave for the night but stayed to check us in, walked us to our room, checked the room to make us feel safe and had informed the security guard of what happened to look out for us too. The following two days him and his coworkers went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were very clean, full breakfast was included, nice pool. I’d recommend this hotel 100x over. I can’t explain how grateful we were for the staff though. Thanks again!

I'm happy we stayed here. I chose this place mainly because of its location close to Monteverde and Curicancha parks, price, and amenities like pool and gardens. Staffs were all friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy. Pool was warm. Nice gardens and trails where you can see wildlife. Easy to book tours through the hotel. We booked a tour of Curicancha through the hotel and had a great time with Victor. I'd stay here again.

This hotel is located on a gorgeous piece of property with very easy access in and out. The rooms are extremely clean and very spacious. We rented the two bed deluxe room with a king and queen beds for our family and this was perfect. ||||The staff is friendly, professional, and extremely accommodating. They have a fantastic covered pool that is tempered to perfection. We spent an hour or so swimming while it rained just feet away but we were unaffected. What a cool experience. ||||They also have a sendero (hiking trail) that is about 1 KM long that was full of neat insects, birds, and various mushrooms and plants. ||||The food was excellent and the included breakfast was a unique and delicious treat. We can't wait to get back to the area and have another lovely stay at this peaceful location.

My family and I loved our stay at this hotel! The staff were SO nice, they all even knew all of our names. The property was beautiful and very peaceful. A short drive to town, and the Cloud Forests. All of the food we had was creative, fresh, and delicious. We highly recommend this lovely, family-owned hotel.

We spent an amazing few days over new yeas eve. The pool, dinner and massages were amazing. The staff were all attentive and polite. Highly recommend a visit. A car is needed if needed as a base for local travel .

Loved this place! Great room-large with comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Great place to walk around and look for wildlife. Friendly staff doing an awesome job. Delicious meals! I love the breakfasts!! I also had a couple of other meals here. You can eat in the main restaurant, or outside upstairs or in the bar. The bar is very cozy. I like the high ceilings and big windows of the restaurant. Great location and convenient to get to wildlife preserves fast. Loved the peace and quiet.
