Had a good stay there. But the rooms despite being nice and newer have a large glass blocks window without curtains .|So it is impossible to rest properly as it is always so bright . Please put some curtains on those huge block windows. The restaurant prices are high . We spent $12 !!! for a minuscule Maracuya tartelette which was runny and so small . Disappointing. |The large pool jacuzzi on day one was not heating and on day two , the jets didn’t work …|Disappointing after a long day hiking .|The staff is polite and welcoming especially Freddie at breakfast and Melanie at the desk. But all the rest of the staff were super nice and helpful.

We were pleasantly surprised as we arrived! We were warmly greeted and driven around the property on a golf cart as we toured the premises. We were greeted with cool drinks (hibiscus, lemon iced tea) as soon as we walked into the restaurant on our tour. ||The property is quiet and serene. Since it's situated between two nature preserves, you feel like you're staying in the middle of nature. A variety of birds can be found all over the property. The nature trail was a nice part of the property! We didn't have a vehicle, and it's not within walking distance of the town center, but that didn't matter to us. We had drivers pick us up to transport us on our various excursions. ||We can't say enough wonderful things about the staff. Everyone we encountered was genuinely concerned about our stay and providing excellent customer service. We truly felt like they rolled out the red carpet for us. Virtually everyone spoke English and made every effort to conversate. ||Our meals at the restaurant were fantastic! They were some of the best food we ate in Costa Rica! The fruit and vegetables were so fresh and everything bursting with flavor. Some of our favorite dishes were the ceviche, pumpkin hummus, beet tartare, catch of the day, pork tenderloin, and tropical salad. Breakfast is included, and we found the menu diverse. Our two favorite breakfast items were the yuca hash brown meal and heuvos rancheros. We didn't feel the desire to go into town for food because we were pleased with the offerings on site.||Happy Hour is from 4-6 pm. and timed perfectly to watch the sunset from their second floor balcony. Their sports tavern is cozy and family friendly. My boys enjoyed playing pool, chess, and cards. ||Their spa was relaxing, and massages were very shockingly priced for the level of service received! They could definitely charge more!||The pool is heated and covered, which makes it relaxing. The staff ensured we could order delicious drinks from the pool bar while we enjoyed our time at the pool. ||We stayed in the very spacious junior suite. It appeared to be recently renovated and came appointed with comfortable pillows, mattresses, robes, towels, and an espresso machine with pods. At night, you could hear the birds, the breeze blowing, and it felt like you were sleeping among nature. ||We would absolutely stay here again! This place is an unassuming, hidden gem in the cloud forest.

Buitiful hotel ,amazing room and scenery, great attentive team at the reception, restaurant and bar . Very pleasant experience. I forgot a smart watch charging cable . They communicated with me via my email and send the cable to the other side of Costa Rica via rapid registerd mail and refused to charge me for the related cost .

Rooms were huge but lacked character. Very plain. No way to regulate the temperature except to open the window and there were no screens. Pool area was okay, hot tubs not very hot. The place is big and has good views. The restaurant was fine. Not great but the included breakfast was made to order, not buffet so that was nice.

Fondavela is a no frills lodge-like hotel perfectly situated outside St Elena in its own jungle grounds. The walking path yielded new animal spotting experiences in addition to those viewed in the nearby Monteverde reserve. Also close by is Treetopia with its walkways high above the cloud forest. The food was good and the service friendly and willing. (The reception staff went to great lengths to reunite me with a personal item that I had left behind inadvertently.) Beds are comfortable and the rooms spacious. Owners would do well though to spend some money on creature comforts like pictures on the walls, rugs and comfortable pillows. A tea making facility was advertised but actually there was only a coffee maker. A fridge is provided but no mini bar.

Stayed for 1 night in March. Very nice resort I would highly recommend. The location is very convenient since I had a early morning tour at Curi Concha Reserve the next day and it was only 5mins drive. When I arrived the staff kindly offered me a driving tour around the premise on a golf cart and explained all the amenities, restaurant and the best viewing spot for sunset. I booked a junior suite and the complex was surrounded by the cloud rain forest so I had great views outside my windows. Dinner menu didn't provide too many options but I enjoyed the grilled trout and the local beer. For breakfast I opted for the traditional Costa Rican classics and it tasted really good. The bed was very comfortable. After a bird watching tour the next morning I returned cold & tired. The staff was very kind to let me use the heated swimming pool & jacuzzi even after I already checked out. I had the place all by myself and thoroughly relaxed and recovered before I continued my trip:)
