I stayed at Hôtel Font Mourier recently, and while the setting is undeniably beautiful and peaceful, the experience was utterly disappointing — especially for a hotel charging upwards of €600 per night.
The service was inconsistent, bordering on disrespectful. We were blindsided with hidden charges during brunch, including a €49 fee that was never disclosed prior to dining. One of us didn’t even eat — just had a cocktail — yet we were still charged for the full brunch without explanation or fairness.
What was worse was the way staff handled the situation. My friend was approached in an aggressive and humiliating manner over the payment, and the incident felt racially charged. When we raised the issue, the restaurant manager responded by yelling instead of resolving anything — completely unprofessional. That night, a staff member barged into our room without knocking to demand payment. This kind of intrusion is absolutely unacceptable.
When confronted, they denied it all at the front desk — gaslighting us instead of apologizing or making amends.
For a property that claims to be “luxury,” the level of hostility and lack of accountability was shocking. I’ve stayed in many hotels across Europe — this was hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I would never return, and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting professionalism, respect, or basic hospitality.
