Tarik, one of the front desk employees is an incompetent passive aggressive man. This was my families first time traveling to Rome, and we were unaware of the protocols for the hotel as there was no communication during the check-in process. For those that don't know, there are two codes that you are supped to enter when they close the doors to the ground level entrance. After exploring the city with a child, we were attempting to get into the hotel and rang the bell to be allowed in. Unfortunately, Tarik was the employee on shift. Instead of unlocking the doors for us, he stuck his head out of a window and scolded us about not knowing the code that we are supposed to enter while we stood outside at 1:30AM with a child. We had told him our room number and asked him if he could kindly let us in; to which he declined. Sir, if we had known about the code don't you think we would have entered and not called for assistance? As we made it to the first floor to get to our room, we needed another code to enter the double sliding doors. We made two unsuccessful attempts to get into the doors before he grabbed the paper from my cousins hands and also failed to enter the code two times before successfully opening the doors. At 5 am, the hotel phone, which we believed was decorations, continuously rang waking us up. When I answered the phone, no one answered and hung up. I had to disconnect the phone in order to attempt to sleep. We did not tell anyone we would be staying in our room other than Tarik. We are aware that he does not like Americans. There are also flys in the room, ants on the floor, and mold in the bathroom. Though the hotel is in a nice location, the experience here was horrible and we have never felt more unwelcome. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
