Hotel Francis Arlene

Very nice hotel. Stayed for 3 nights, 4 days. Very conveniently located to restaurants and shopping. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Very clean and spacious. Great place to stay for the price. If you needed anything additional, they were right there to assist.

Quite noisy from outside noise during Carnaval and 2 nights from very noisy hotel guests. The owner was extremely friendly and was always trying to be of help. Many of the rooms open to a very nice, shared balcony. A few rooms have 2 balconies. Our room had a tiny balcony barely large enough for 2 small chairs. Think had we been able to get a "premium" room we would have been much happier, but seems these rooms go quickly.

Run by one of the sweetest families who welcomes you with warm smiles. Prime location. Walkable to beach, laundry mat, coffee, and city. The rooms for me and my husband were clean. We had fresh sheets and towels everyday. We stayed for 1 week. Warm shower and comfy beds. There was a refrigerator, air conditioning and tv in our room as well as balcony. Water pressure in the shower was wonderful. Staff was excellent and friendly. No issues with theft. Would highly recommend.

Quite possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We agreed on a price, went to look at the room, and when we came back to the front desk they increased the price on us. When we went to pay, it was cash only because the grandson wasn't there to work the card terminal. The room was filthy, sheets were not clean, towels were stained and had holes, everything was dusty... Awful for allergies. Needed a second key, which was promised to us the following morning, but the staff lost the key they had to make a copy of, so now anyone who finds it can access the room. All around incompetence in every way possible. Did not stay the second night we booked, instead we found a different hotel because anything was better than this.

I stayed here 3 nights and liked it. However, I missed the genuine interest in wanting to make customers happy. Will give it 3.5 stars. What I loved: ✅Great location, situated on a backstreet just a few min walking distance to beach and restaurants. ✅My room had two balconies and a lot of light came in. ✅Housekeeping boy Felipe did a great job in cleaning my room every day. ✅Close to everything but still fairly quiet (no music from bars) ✅Rooftop terrace..great for yoga or a stretch in the morning. ✅HUGE comfy bed ✅I was able to negotiate a low-season discount Free water fountain ✅Wifi was available in room. Suggestions for improvement: 1) Customer service: Reception was available until I believe 10pm however no-one was there after 6/7pm... whenever I had a question after that time, I got a not-so-friendly/slightly irritated response from the female family member of management. It did not make me feel welcome 2) I had planned to stay only 1 night but with the option to extend. On my first night, I was told I could move to a different room next day. Next day I was told by manager that this would not be possible. 3) No real option to store luggage... I had a late night flight and left the Island at 7pm. I was given the option to leave it in the hallway visible to the security camera. It worked out fine but to be honest, I didn't quite understand why I couldn't just leave it behind Reception where only staff can access. 4)Bathroom: Shower cover was broken and every time I took a shower, there was a puddle in the bathroom. Not a big deal but the entire hotel was empty and it would have been nice to have the option to switch rooms...just out of courtesy...Also, bathroom was not the cleanest...after I mentioned it, it was cleaned the next day, however I would have expected a thorough cleaning before my checkin. 4) Not a suggestion, just a comment... no real option to meet other travelers as there is no kitchen and I was one of few guests June 2023 If you find this feedback useful, please click the helpful button so I can add similar content in future reviews.

We stayed at Francis Arlene for a week while in Isla Mujeres and will not be back.||||The pros: It is cheap, close to Hildago Ave and close to the beach. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very clean. Housekeeping did a good job each day of keeping the room nice. The AC worked well.||||The cons: This hotel is VERY old and everything in it is equally old. The bedspread had stains and holes and appeared VERY old. We did not have a TV or working refrigerator in our room. The shower had very little water pressure and only enough hot water for one person to shower very quickly. The first day we arrived there were not towels at all. We asked for towels and were told we would get them on the second day, so we weren't able to shower the first day. Our toilet flusher broke and was not working and I told the front desk. They said they would send someone up right away to fix it, however, 2 days later it still wasn't fixed and we had to take the back of the tank lid off to fix it. Wifi was spotty at best. ||||I would also advise you do not get any sort of shampoo, conditioner or soap at this hotel so make sure you bring your own. Also, you will need to bring a hairdryer because that is also not provided. If you want a cheap, clean place to stay with absolutely nothing else to offer, you will be fine here. If you have any expectations at all, I would find somewhere else.

I stayed here with a friend for 4 nights. Had room #9 with 2 double beds.||We checked out the room before we checked in. It's old but clean. You pay in advance for our stay as per Hotel policy. There is a no-refund policy also.||We brought our things to the room and sat on the bed- it was like sitting on concrete.||The sheets are so thin you can see right through to the mattress.No matress cover.|| Pillows are old and hard- sheets did not even match.||We requested to change rooms hoping the beds would be better, they did not have any available tell the next day.||Ended up switching to room #7 with a king bed. We we're willing to sleep in the same one in hopes that the bed would be better. It was not 😞 It did have a mattress cover however so it seemed the slightest bit softer. Hot water is also not reliable.||For over $100 a night there are better places. ||Owners are nice, Courtyard is cute but the beach on this side is not swimmable so you can walk down and look at it that's about it.

My room had a nice view of the ocean. Clean, nice hotel staff, the owner is a gem of a guy. Close to very good restaurants and shopping. Quiet area, always felt safe. People on Island are very polite, just reach out and talk, you'll be amazed how many new friends you'll make. Laundry service right around the corner. Beach is a half mile away, very easy to walk straight down to the Beach.
