FREIgeist Göttingen Innenstadt (Göttingen, Lower Saxony) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Instead of Berlin or Munich, FREIgeist chose a few off-the-beaten-path locations, like the historic university town of Göttingen, for its first boutique hotels. The brand’s name is German for “free spirit,” and that’s exactly who the FREIgeist Göttingen Innenstadt aims to attract with its eclectic mix of modern design, creative influences, and laid-back atmosphere. The elegant brick building by Hannover-based architecture firm Ahrens & Grabenhorst Architekten is sleek and understated, but inside, the interiors by Frank Kassner are full of vibrant, unexpected details like Basquiat-inspired street art, colorful Moroccan tiles, and bespoke carpets by the Barcelona-based Nani Marquina." - Tablet Hotels

I have been to many hotels around the world. This one is on my top list. Rooms are excellent. The cocktails very special. The restaurant is delicious. Highly recommended.

They do NOT have airconditioning, they say they do, but they don’t. The air is thick and hot, when you ask the reception what’s wrong with the airconditioning they reply the airconditioning only cools 5 degrees from what’s the outside temperature. In our case, it is 35 degrees outside so it is 30 degrees inside. Reception suggested to open a window when it cools a bit outside during the night. We booked this with our small kids to have a cool night from the hot summer but it is a big disappointment

Good looking room, but without proper aircondition. We borrowed a fan, but the room was still very hot. The breakfast was also really expensive. The location was good though.

If everything goes how you would expect it to go (you get to the hotel, they don’t mess up your booking and you get a room there) this hotel is very nice. Location good with the train station immediately next to it, short-ish walk to downtown. HOWEVER, for the second time in a row the hotel had a “technical issue” and they were overbooked once I arrived, although I had completed the online check-in the day prior - so they knew I was coming. I was then forced to stay at their partner hotel about 15 kilometers away in a small town, at the end of the world, really. And the staff had the audacity to call this an upgrade, as technically the partner hotel has 5 stars. While reality is the hotel is nice but the surroundings are catastrophic, public transport to the city would have taken an hour. The hotel did offer to pay for taxi transport, however, they only wanted to pay for two taxis although four would have been required for a two night stay (50 Euro to downtown Göttingen). The small town did not have a great choice in terms of restaurants, bars and grocery stores nor breakfast options which was NOT included despite the massive inconvenience caused. Breakfast would have cost 35 euros at the “upgrade” hotel, which is ridiculous. This would have been the least they could do in terms of customer service. I was there for work purposes, location in central Göttingen and only receive 40 euros per day for food. In the originally planned hotel I could have easily gone to the city for affordable food and literally anything else. All in all, a terrible experience. And while I used to like this hotel, I will no longer be recommending it to my colleagues that also travel there for work. Do better!

This is not a 4 star hotel. The front desk people were polite but lack basic english speaking skills. The bar staff great, but restaurant staff unprofessional and rude. Not accommodating to guests. The hotel is basic, the rooms do not have many amenities other “4 star” hotels have. You have to rent robes for the sauna. The food was great but $$$ breakfast for cold selections. Again restaurant staff rude and immature.

A great location for a work or leisure trip. The rooms are modern, clean, and a bit sparse, but the overall esthetic keeps the hotel feeling fresh and worth while. The hotel staff are often friendly but not super helpful for international travelers needing medical assistance. The location is a quick walk to the old city of Goettingen or many great restaurants.

Nice and stylish place. The bed was too soft for me. The variety at breakfast is much narrower than at a typical hotel of 4 stars, and the same each day. The cosmetics at the rooms are more than excellent. Location is perfect, the railway station is 2 minutes, the historical city centre is 5.

I spent 7 straight days at this hotel and, honestly, it was a home from home for this South African on business. There was nothing that the friendly and helpful team weren't willing to arrange or try to help with. The decor and amenities are warm, welcoming, comfortable and carefully considered. There are lots of "chill-out" areas. The breakfast buffet is diverse and delicious. Truly one of the best city hotels that this well-travelled journalist has stayed in. Well done, Team! You can be proud of yourselves and your lovely hotel.
