Good base for couples and families wanting to have private rooms in a secure hotel right in the heart of things. It was sufficient for our purposes, nice to be above the roof line (true for rooms on the second floor and above) and an improvement on other accommodation we've had in La Paz. Foibles and sub-par aspects included: disinterested staff (although weekend front of house was more helpful and friendly), non-existent room cleaning during multiple night stay, pitiful bathroom ventilation, poor acoustic separation, and maintenance/servicing required customers reminding staff multiple times (changing light bulbs, provision of toilet paper and towels).

We chose hotel Fuentes because, sick, we were looking for a calm and comfortable place. From the two places we've stayed at, the nights before, in La Paz, we can ensure you it's not that easy to find!||The hotel is located inside a courtyard, close to the witches market, with NO direct contact with the noisy roads. Our double room was spacious, clean and had its private bathroom. The breakfast was included.||Perfect if you need a good rest or a break the crazy streets of La Paz!

Gentleman at the front desk was dismissive, rude, and unhelpful. There seemed to be no other staff at the hotel for us to talk to.||||The hotel has no elevator and he did not assist us in bringing our luggages up to our room. When requesting extra blankets because the rooms were too cold, he made us carry the blankets up to the top floor ourselves. He charged us extra to bring a heater into the room. There was no access to the bathroom from our room, meaning we had to go outside into the cold whenever we used the bathroom. The bathroom had no soap, toilet paper, or towels. The bath towels we were given were stained and old-looking. The sheets were also stained and had stray hairs on them. The room smelled old, musty, and moldy, as if it hadn't been aired or properly cleaned in a while.||||Wifi was not very good, pretty slow. There were only 2 working outlets in the room, which were pretty loose. The remaining outlets were so loose that anything plugged in would immediately fall out.||||Hotel does not accept card. You must pay cash.

I've stayed quite a few times here (3 times in 2014, 1 this last January 2017). Back in 2014 we stayed there because the prices are very good, the rooms have a nice view and in general things were quite fine (save for the hot water which was faulty some times), so this January when we went back to La Paz we went straight to this hotel to find out that the hot water issue had been solved (Yay!).||BUT, we had a problem. We were staying there for just one night, and that night my boyfriend had a very high fever. He was delirious. We had regrettably forgotten to buy water/sodas and tap water is not to be drank in Bolivia. So I rushed down the stairs (4 flights of them) at 3am to ask for some water. I knew they sell bottle water at the reception. But the reception was closed. I knocked on the door until this guy who was clearly sleeping came out and told me he could not give/sell me water, NOT EVEN A DAMN GLASS A WATER to take a pill. Also, he informed that everything was closed in La Paz and that I shouldnt go out. I ended up knocking on other guests doors until some tourists gave me water.||We had a medical emergency and they didnt assist us. They had the bottle of water on the counter and refused to provide it. We wont return.

La Casona is situated in the busy heart of La Paz, and is a very welcoming place to stay. ||Rooms are clean, wifi is strong, staff are excellent and didn’t laugh at my poor Spanish skills (and they spoke English well). Breakfast is great, and includes a basic breakfast for those rising extremely early.

We booked for a double room with a private bathroom and when we arrived, we didn’t had the room expected. They offer us a double room with a shared bathroom and told us we would be the only one to have access to this bathroom. Badly, we could’nt use the bathroom because a group of people where in there all night and even in the morning. It was very frustrating. Moreover, the room was really cold and we didn’t have tranquility due to the bad insonorisation of the room. At least, breakfast was good.

Priced well, but front desk stuff needs to be more attentive to customers and being nice would give this place better customer satisfaction. Lots of room to improve. Ramiro who presented himself as an owner of this hotel must be polite with customers and behave professionally.

Positives: Safe, good location, clean rooms, hot water, free breakfast, reasonable wifi.||||Negatives: Breakfast was very minimal and poor quality, unhelpful staff, online bookings were not synced with actual rooms available, rooms near the stairs were very loud with people walking up and down at night and early in the morning. ||||We went to book a third night with them however we were told at reception that there were no rooms available. Whereas online it said there were about 5 rooms available. The man at reception was useless and quite rude so we decided to stay somewhere else.
