We were here in March 2023. I had the most touching and closest experience in this “ryokan” The people in the front desk, they didn’t speak English but they were so kind and tried their best with translation to communicate. Overall the room was clean and it was also big enough. It was very cute because I was able to say: “Ittekimasu” and the front desk people which where a woman and man of a third age, they replied: “Itterasshai” The same when I came back, I said: “tadaima” and they smily replied: “okaeri” The place it’s literally 5 mins from Shibuya station in bus, and 15-20 min walking. There’s a family mart close to it. You can catch every bus from there is definitely well located but it’s also in a neighborhood where you can feel like in a anime story haha because it’s like the norm japanese houses and you were able to see the Sakura trees. This place was definitely perfect, I wish I was able to stay longer ♥️ PS: I read comments here that it was annoying to take off your shoes, please, if you come to a country like Japan, where their culture and traditions are so rooted, and you don’t want to adapt, better don’t come at all. You can’t come to their business or house and tell them how to run it lol Besides, everywhere in Japan unless it’s a public space you must take off your shoes, sometimes even in some restaurants. It’s part of who they are. They won’t change their whole identity because of some tourist, if you’re annoyed by taking off your shoes, maybe read ahead of the countries traditions and everyday activities before you visit it. At last, this place was amazing, service, location, hygiene, you’re able to arrive late at night as well. If you want a place to sleep comfortably and also experience some local shibuya, this is the place to stay.

Clean rooms and great service ! Enough room for three large luggages. Not really a good location to walk from. But two bus stops away from Shibuya station. Does not have a AC unit in room but had a window so it was fine. Not too sure how the summer would be here.

Lovely hotel in a hidden area. Front desk guy was very helpful. The room was spotless. Public bath was open a few hours every night. A bit of a walk from metro station and because of the poor sound proof you can hear people walk outside.

Amazing stay here. Extremely welcoming staff, entire hotel is clean and cozy. Room was spacious and clean. Favorite part is that no shoes are allowed inside, so you leave them in the lobby and they give you slippers. Can't get over how comfortable the beds are. Might be difficult for some elders due to the height since beds are floor level and no elevator. Bathroom is a little small, but still okay. Otherwise we highly recommend, thank you for the wonderful stay!

Nice, authentic Japanese hotel about a 7 minute walk away from the craziness that is Shibuya crossing. The hotel was undergoing some needed Renovations during our stay. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The room had a step down into the washroom. A little issue when using the facilities during the night. the floor cushions for sleeping were actually fairly comfortable. This is a good choice if you want to feel like you stayed in Japan and not at the holiday Inn somewhere.

An absolute hidden gem of a hotel with such fantastic value for money! The staff are incredibly kind and the facilities are very clean and comfortable. I love the traditional elements of a Japanese inn with all the modern comforts you could want. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood, we slept so well! Lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby. The location requires a bit of a walk or bus ride from the nearest train stations, but a taxi ride could easily solve this.

Ryokan is a very misleading term for this, it is much closer to a hostel. I booked a Japanese style room with a “private soaking tub,” but the owner refused to acknowledge this and we ended up in a room with just a toilet (and no bidet). ||||Other downsides:||-Slippers provided don’t fit and are too difficult to use going up/down the stairs||-Walls are paper thin with hardwood floors to echo everyone else’s movements/key dropping||-The entrance is the drinking/smoking area that you have to go through every time ||-*one* communal shower room for probably 20+ people||-the one chair in our room had a stain that looked like someone’s crotch sweat (we did not touch that chair)||-no elevator, you carry your luggage yourself up the stairs (in bad slippers)||-ongoing construction that wasn’t listed at the time we were booking ||-the location isn’t that great, there are much better hotels closer to stations throughout Tokyo for the same price - this was a 15 minute walk from Shibuya uphill ||||Misleading listing with a total lack of amenities. I had significantly better experiences at other hotels in Tokyo for the same price and a much better location.

A big thank you to the excellent staff and manager at the hotel. They are professional and accommodating. The manager was so nice to apologize about shipping luggage, there was no need as the shipment is done by another company 🫡; for those who wish to ship, you need to ship two days ahead, however, it is close to the hotel. The hotel also has detailed instructions on how to fill the form 🙏. They have a bath and shower. Each room has a restroom with an incredible bidet! I love their Japanese-style room design. It is hard to see and experience tatami rooms nowadays without going to a ryokan. I am glad to see the continued tradition. Despite nestled in Shibuya, the hotel stands out with its traditional and modern design. Possibly my favorite hotel in Tokyo.

Yelp
Staying here for about 5 days. Love this place. It's clean, basic, and all a tourist pretty much needs. The people working here are suuuuper friendly and will definitely try their best to help you when you ask. I love how the rooms are traditional too; makes me feel like I'm living in kyoto while in the midst of central tokyo.

Yelp
We booked Hotel Fukudaya through an agent in an attempt to stay in a ryokan. My husband and I stayed here in the middle of cherry blossom season and it was extremely hard to find a ryokan to book so we lucked out with this one. What we liked most about this ryokan is that it is located in the middle of the city which made it convenient to meet up with friends while in the area. The premises was clean and simple. From the Shibuya station it is about a 15 minute walk and can be a bit tricky to find. The staff is super friendly and definitely helpful. It's definitely not your 5-star hotel or a ryokan that will serve meals too.... I'm glad we only stayed one night here....
