I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ganesh Himal. The place is very friendly, peaceful, and clean. The staff were always kind and helpful, making me feel at home. The food was delicious and fresh, and the beautiful garden gave me a calm escape from the busy streets of Kathmandu. Everything was perfect from the rooms to the service. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kathmandu! Best Hotel I highly recommend🫶

The peaceful garden was the perfect place to relax after exploring the city. Overall, everything was beyond my expectations. Truly the best hotel in Kathmandu

We had a great stay at Hotel Ganesh Himal. The room was spacious and comfortable, the location was convenient for exploring the city, and it was wonderfully quiet, perfect for a good night’s sleep. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, which was a big plus for us. Just a small note for future guests: there is a 4% surcharge for paying by credit card, which isn’t mentioned on Booking.com, and it’s worth checking if your VAT has already been paid to avoid double charges. Overall, a lovely and comfortable place to stay in Kathmandu.

Having travelled to Nepal for many years I have stayed in a vast variety of Hotels in the Thamel area I have hit the jackpot!! The Ganesh Himal is minutes from the busy Thamel area however bring located in a local neighbourhood area it's is a peaceful haven. It ticks every box!! It has a huge central Garden that is heaven to return to after a busy day..and indeed a peaceful place to start the day. The staff are so incredibly kind and helpful. I was sick in bed for a week when I arrived and they took care of me.. bringing me food and making sure I was ok. The restaurant has the most delicious food..same price if not cheaper than the Thamel Restaurants! There is a huge variety of large rooms to choose from. And being a budget traveller the price is about as good as you get get for this luxury,! It's an easy walk to see the sights! Close to Dhurber Square and Swayumbu Temple. I've finally found my forever Hotel. It took 18 years but now I've found my gold!!! I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough. It's just perfect!

We’ve stayed here over multiple occasions and have enjoyed our stays every time. The rooms are a nice size, the hot water is consistent, the food at the restaurant is decent, the WiFi is good enough, and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The courtyard area is a very nice touch and a peaceful area to spend some time. They also have a backup generator so the power is never down for long during the outages. The location is ideal as it is very close to Thamel but removed from the chaos. The only thing to note is to avoid the laundry service. They outsource to a third party who does a very poor job (our clothes still had dirt marks and some came back even dirtier somehow) and they grossly overcharge (we gave no more than 6 or 7 kilos and they tried to charge for 10). When we brought this to their attention, they mentioned it’s not the first time a guest has complained about the laundry being overcharged and reduced the price for us a bit. They do not have a working scale at the hotel to weigh yourself before giving the clothes. Hopefully they change their laundry provider, otherwise, you are better off going somewhere else in Thamel to get it done.

Very disappointing experience – never coming back! I had booked a room a day in advance, but when I reached the hotel, they simply said, "We don’t have that room available." Instead of offering a solution or apology, they forced me to take a much more expensive room. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional throughout the whole process. No sense of responsibility or hospitality. In the end, we had to leave without staying. This was honestly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Not recommended at all. Come on, guys — at least respect your own bookings and treat your guests properly!

A Hidden gem! I went on a solo trip in Nepal and stayed at multiple places but this was genuinely the best hotel I stayed at out the whole trip. The rooms and service is of European standards. If you want to stay close to the durbar square but not be bothered by noise and air pollution of Tamel, this is the best place to rest after a long day of exploring. The vibe is more like a nature retreat with the courtyard being so beautiful and lush. There are two buildings but don't be confused by the front- once you are inside the building, the architecture is carefully curated to represent the heritage style of the Newari people. The Hotel restaurant is fantastic, all the Tibetan and Newari food tasted delicious and fresh. It is a great find for the prices they offer for the proximity to all the key attractions. There's a bonus cat who is so friendly and cute - if you're into cats!

The outdoor seating is just perfect to enjoy peaceful afternoons. Food is decent though we only tried khana set. The indoor ambiance is also pretty as they have vintage architecture and appealing vibes. Although located at the heart of the capital feels cozy enough to spend a relaxing day.
