Garh Jaisal Haveli Hotel, Jaisalmer Fort, Rajasthan - Explore & Book

"The fortress city of Jaisalmer rises majestically out of the Thar Desert like the fantastical backdrop to an Indiana Jones film. Once an important part of the camel caravan trading route, Jaisalmer is still a living humming medieval city, its twisting alleys packed with ambling cows, scooters and traders selling the famous local silver. Like the intricately carved Jain temples dominating the heart of the 11th-century fort, the city’s 99 defensive turrets, bridged by impressive walls, are all carved from the local sandstone - giving Jaisalmer its nickname of the ‘Golden City’. The wealthy Jain merchants who financed the fortifications also built handsome mansions (havelis) for themselves, some of which are wonderfully preserved. Garh Jaisal is one of them, and one of a lucky few hotels tucked within the ramparts. Its contemporary interiors are in direct contrast with the ancient surroundings. Owner Mukesh took 7 years designing the chic Indo-French style interiors, opening in August 2006, but the atmospheric nooks and crannies of the original building, built into the walls of the city, remain. The 7 homely rooms are bursting with colour and cosy corners; the rooftop terrace a perfect place to linger over a chai and soak up the incredible views. Close to the magnificent Sam sand dunes and Gadi Sagar lake, its allure lies in the fact that it’s off the beaten track, yet surprisingly easy to get to. Highs Rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Thar Desert and Jaisalmer Healthy Western-style breakfast with freshly squeezed OJ – served until noon so you can maximise your lie-in The decor: rooms are a starburst of colour Chic hand-block printed cotton robes, each one unique, and your beautiful bed quilt can be bought and taken home Private car transfers can be arranged to anywhere in Rajasthan Lows You may get other (non-resident) tourists coming in to marvel at the view from the rooftop - a bit off-putting when you are having your breakfast There are no twin rooms and no pool - not the hotel for die-hard sun lizards Jaisalmer Airport only operates commercially Oct-March, and flights are infrequent - the next closest airport is 6 hours away Jaisalmer Fort is in need of extensive preservation, but profits from your stay go towards restoration" - Hannah Roberts

We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel truly became our haven of peace in the middle of the noise and crowds — calm, quiet, and exactly what we needed. Our room was very spacious and spotless, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive throughout our stay. We kept returning to the restaurant for the stunning views and the delicious food. Special shout-out to the Nepali kitchen team — you made every meal memorable. Thank you to the entire staff for your hospitality, your helpful advice, and all the little touches that made our stay so special. We’d happily return on our next trip to India.

I stayed at Hotel Garh Jaisal Haveli for four nights and also had one night in the desert, sleeping under the stars. It was such a memorable experience. The room was really cute and cozy, with a beautiful view from the balcony that made mornings extra special.||The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They even carried our luggage from the parking, which was a nice touch. We also had a guide arranged through the hotel, and he was fantastic, really smart and well-informed about all the local spots and history. The roof top terrace restaurant is amazing point, you can see the complete view of the city, if lucky you can see the sunrise from your room and sunset behind the fort from the roof terrace. We had all our meals with them as it was fresh and delicious.||Overall, it was definitely worth the stay. The atmosphere was peaceful, the service excellent, and the desert experience was something I’ll never forget. Highly recommend it!

We had a lovely experience staying at Garh Jaisal. The hotel is full of old charm and has such a positive feeling. The staff were very kind and even helped us with our luggage from the parking area on their motorbike, that was really kind and unexpected!|The restaurant on the 2nd floor is amazing, food was delicious and view was just perfect. We also went for a desert safari arranged by them, and it was one of the best memories, sleeping under the stars in the open desert with another couple from Europe, simple food, good talks, and total peace.|Rooms are clean and beautiful, with a royal touch. The staff really take care of small things and make you feel at home. Would love to come back again.

Wow! What an amazing hotel! You need to stay here! This has been the best place we’ve stayed in India, not only for the amazing location and beautiful building, but because of the lovely and caring staff. It was my partners birthday whilst we were in Rajasthan and they went above and beyond to the extent of organising a cake! Breakfast was also freshly made and options were unlimited. Thank you, you’ve truly made our experience in Jaisalmer wonderful.

This is a very nice place to stay. From your room window, you can see the full city and enjoy the sunrise. The food was great, and the staff were really helpful. The rooms were neat and clean, and rickshaws can take you right up to the hotel. One thing to note: In the early morning hours, the police do not allow rickshaws inside the killa (fort). You will need to walk down to the entrance. However, if you have luggage, the hotel staff will collect your bags using a motorcycle

Had a lovely 2-night stay at Hotel Garh Jaisal. The location is perfect, right inside Jaisalmer Fort, so the views from the room and rooftop are stunning, especially during sunrise.||Rooms are clean, well-maintained, and decorated in a traditional style. Bit compact but very cosy. Bathroom was neat and clean.||Wi-Fi was working perfectly throughout our stay, which was a pleasant surprise. There was a short power cut one evening (seems to be a city issue), but they have backup power so lights and fan were still working—didn’t face any real problem.||Staff were polite and helpful, always ready to assist. They even helped us book a desert safari and guided us with local spots to visit.||The rooftop restaurant serves tasty food, especially local dishes and fully flavourful.||Overall, it’s a peaceful, authentic place to experience Jaisalmer’s charm. Definitely recommend for couples or solo travellers looking for something unique inside Jaisalmer fort.

Such a luxury experience for a great price! They were so welcoming, offering teas and coffees, anything we wanted at breakfast, and they even laid out flowers on the bed for my birthday! This is the best hotel in Jaisalmer (caveat: it’s the only place I’ve stayed). They even made a cake and sang happy birthday to me. They went above and beyond. I love this place and their staff. Great views and beautiful rooms. 6*s if I could
