My son and I stayed at Hotel Gunther Garni for 2 nights in April. We booked a standard double room with balcony facing the Rhine. Our room is on the (european) first floor with a compact bathroom. Weather was chilly when we were there but we still enjoyed the lovely view of the river. The room has an electric kettle and an in-room safe. An added nice touch is a sliding door in our room that separates the entry hallway/bathroom from the sleeping area. This helps to keep the hallway / neighbors door slamming noise down. I wish every hotel has this feature.||The staff was fantastic and had our free guest transport tickets available for our stay. Breakfast starts at 7:30am (11 euros pp) is nice the room is bright and spacious. ||The location cannot be beat; it is right next door to the fancy Bellevue hotel, and a mere 7-min walk from the train station. K-D and other ferry company piers are directly outside the door. You can also walk to the Boppard Sesselbahn (chairlift) in 15 minutes, which I highly recommend.||We stayed midweek during low season, so the town is fairly quiet and we didn't hear much street noise with balcony door closed. However, this might not be the case during summer time with outdoor dining tables next door at the Bellevue plus trains noise from the opposite side of the river||If I have to quibble, I'd say the room decor is a bit dated. But for a 3* hotel with such a great rate, a great location with a great staff, I don't mind it at all.

This was an awesome hotel to stay at. It is right on the river across from where the KD river boats dock. The rooms have a great balcony overlooking the river. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Several of them speak excellent English. This is a very typical German style hotel. The rooms were nice. If you want to stay in a convenient town on the Rhine River than this hotel in Boppard is a great choice. I would definitely stay here again. The town and the hotel are excellent.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hotel Gunther. This small family run hotel was our first stop on a 16 day trip to Germany. We arrived by train from the Frankfurt airport after an overnight flight and were exhausted. We had planned to taxi to the hotel but it was literally a 5 minute walk (downhill) from the train station so walk we did. We were greeted by Scott who welcomed us and gave us some very good information to get us started on our vacation. Our room was on the front of the hotel, facing the Rhine with a balcony. The room itself was spacious and had a sofa. We loved the balcony and sitting out there in the mornings and evenings watching the boat traffic go by. The hotel does not have AC but there was a fan in our room. It was coolish when we were there so this was not an issue at all.|The location is top notch. We took the train to Rudesheim to catch a KD cruise back to Boppard which was a highlight of our vacation. The train use is free within the region with a Boppard guest card that the hotel gives you upon check in . As per Scott, by crossing the river to Filson (on a ferry) and catching the train there we could ride free all the way to Rudesheim, which is also a lovely town.|Boppard is a nice town, the main square and restaurants all within a short walking distance, however, be warned, everything shuts down early and the town gets very quiet. Some nights we had trouble finding a restaurant open if it was a bit later. The visitor Information Centre in the Main Square was also very helpful and close.|Our anniversary was our first morning there and we were surprised with a small bottle of Champagne - a nice touch.|Breakfast is not included but costs 11 Euro a day. You just have to tell them the night before. We did this two of our 4 mornings, opting to try a cafe downtown the other mornings (which was also nice - but more expensive).||If we had any nit picky things to say would be the bathroom is so small and hard to maneuvre. The showerhead is at an awkward angle to even get under to shower. There is literally no place to hang a robe, put your makeup etc. Very tight. No fridge, would be nice to have a small fridge. There is a kettle in the room but only tea, no coffee. We would have loved to have had a coffee on our balcony in the mornings. (we did ask and the first time were told no, the 2nd time were given a very small amount of decaf instant coffee, also asked if we could come down and purchase a pot of coffee to bring back up and also told no)|I would definately recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return if we ever find our travels back in that area. Its a great base location for your time in the Rhine Region.

Great location with rooms available overlooking the Rhine. Easy walking distance, less than 20 metres, to KD ferries booking office and slightly further to cross river car ferry (50 metres). Everything within walking distance, friendly staff. Public car parking within 20 metres @ 6 Euro for 24 hours. No fridge or air conditioning in rooms.

We stayed here 10 years ago and loved it. The good things haven't changed and they've kept up with the times with good wifi. We had a balcony room overlooking the Rhine which was both very comfortable with modern amenities. Breakfast was something we remembered from our previous trip and it was still the same - a view of the Rhine, coffee and juice served at your table with a friendly server, and a good selection of quality food. They have a on site laundry service for a reasonable price. Plenty of restaurants with easy walking distance. There's no AC but it wasn't needed in June. The only possible negative was the sound of trains across the river. They're frequent and sound like rain. We noticed them even witht the windows closed but didn't mind the sound. If you might then get a room away from the river. Excellent value for what you get.

This was our second time at this hotel. The previous visit was in autumn a couple of years ago. The location is the best and view over the Rhine river is amazing. Try for a room with a balcony towards the front. But the view has a price. The ships and trains are noticable during the night, but that is acceptable for THAT view. |What was disturbing this visit compared to the previous one is the commotion from the street directly in front of the hotel. The city sent the trucks to collect trash out very early. And also other delivery trucks brought things early. It is not the fault of the hotel. But still it was hard to sleep any longer and we did not feel so relaxed. ||The beds were comfortable and we slept well on them. Wi-fi sometimes worked, sometimes not. The hotel has an elevator.||The room could use an extra darkening blind for the windows. The curtains are light and look nice. But the sun shines early during the summer and it is also difficult to sleep once it gets light... and then the street noise did not make it better to sleep. When we were here in autumn, this was not a problem. ||There is parking available on the street in front of the hotel. From 6 p.m.- 8 a.m. they do not cost anything. We usually parked in the evening, payed 1.00 - 1.50 Euros and got a ticket that carried the parking time past 8 a.m. so we could enjoy breakfast without having to worry about the park time.||Breakfast was delicious and the service very friendly.

Excellent service of the staff! They arranged gluten free bread as well for us. Location super good, you have a view to the river. Parking possible in front of the hotel (1 euro per hour, 6 euro per day) or at close by locations. A lot of restaurant and cafe around it. The room is good (old design, but very clean) wifi can be stronger. Breakfast very nice, worth 13 euro. When booking you get a free card for buses, local museum and some % of from bost rides.

It was autumn and an excellent time of the year for seeing the Rhine and Mosel area without the crowds. After deciding to look for a hotel in Boppard, we chose the Hotel Gunther Garni after reading the reviews from previous visitors.||||Our room was located on the 3rd floor and had a small balcony that overlooked the Rhine river and the beautiful scenery beyond it. Boats travel all day and what feels like all night. They make somewhat of a noise, but it did not bother us as it added to the charm of having a room facing the river.||||The room itself was larger than we expected it to be, was clean and the beds were very comfortable. When we booked the room we requested a bathtub and that wish was also fulfilled!||||Every morning we went to the hotel's breakfast room to start the day off. We were greeted by a cheery hostess and found a most pleasing breakfast buffet with so many choices of food to eat. It was very tasty!||||In front of the hotel, there is a possibility to park at designated parking spaces along the street. During the day these spaces cost money but between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. the same spaces were free to park at.||||The location of the hotel could not be any better. To the front is the Rhine River. The town center, where there are shops and restaurants, is within walking distance. The town has historical areas, including Roman structures. You can take boat trips to many destinations. The docks are within walking distance of the hotel. A trip to the Loreley is charming and whilst traveling down the Rhine to that location, many castle ruins can be observed on the way to it.||||I would stay at this hotel again if I travel to Boppard again!

Yelp
The fantastic owners & location on the riverfront make Hotel Günther a place I would return to again and again. Our spacious balcony room had beautiful vistas of the Rhein and offered plenty of space for my mom, husband and I to be comfortable and spread out a bit. The dècor was a bit 1980s, but it was very clean and well kept. There is an elevator, so no need to worry about being stationed on the 4th level of a 200-year-old building if you aren't able to use stairs. We seemed to have enough electrical outlets to get our cameras/phones charged up without taking shifts, so that was a nice bonus. The owners are an American man, his German wife, and their adult children who all help run it (I feel so bad I don't remember their names now!). They were so friendly (and fluent in both English and German) and full of advice and ideas for experience all of the lovely sights that Boppard and the rest of the Rhein have to offer. They are who sent us to the Sesselbahn and gave us detailed information about taking the KD cruise to our next destination instead of the train. The American loves to chat about the US too, so if you want to swap stories about home, he's certain to oblige! In the mornings, they have a fabulous German-style continental breakfast with coldcuts, cheeses, brötchen, sliced breads, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, müseli, butter, jams, honey, Nutella, and -- because there is an American in the house -- peanut butter (that made Gary a happy man!). They have your table pre-set with your dishes and such when you get to the dining room and they bring you your choice of tea, coffee or orange juice. The food is self serve, so you can get exactly what you want. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming here, and I just can't reiterate enough what a pleasure it was to stay here!

Yelp
Immensely friendly staff. We stayed in a big two-bedroom apartment they have for families. Can't say enough nice things about this place!
