We ditched a terrible resort down the beach to come here, this is so much better. Quiet and peaceful, big beautiful clean pool, lots of places to sit. Service at front desk is superb, very helpful and kind. The restaurant is lovely, good food, attentive staff, fair pricing. My only complaint would be no coffee maker or fridge in rooms, no coffee available until 8. We had 3 beds in our room, would be so nice to have a comfortable couch or chairs instead of the 3rd bed. But overall this is a lovely place to stay or use as a base for exploring San Blas area. Highly recommend!

I was with a small group birding in/around San Blass for a week, led by Solipaso Tours. They have stayed here for all their San Blas trips for the past 25 years and I can see why. This is not a fancy, waterfront resort, but it is family run by the second generation and that care and attention to detail you get from a family owned business is front and center. Garza Canela is very well maintained, the grounds are immaculate, the rooms are clean and cheery and the food is amazing. The staff is super attentive, they learn your name and many have worked here for decades. If you are looking for charm and old Mexico with great amenities, this is your place.

I just got back from a week-long stay at Hotel Garza Canela, and I can't rave enough about its hospitality. By the second day, the sisters who run the restaurant, Doris and Deanna, knew all of us by name and by food/drink preferences. This was a birding trip, and we had very early departures, and they were there to welcome us to an excellent breakfast buffet. Our rooms were charming and were conveniently situatated around the inviting pool. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful hotel tucked away on the edge of town, rooms and grounds were beautiful, very clean and staff was friendly and helpful! The restaurant on site has good food and great service as well. Thank you especially to Josephina and Doris who set us up with a local bird tour in La Tovara. Absolutely recommend staying here if you are in San Blas and will be back next time <3

The Hotel Garza Canela was fantastic. The nicest hotel we've stayed in in Mexico. The staff was great and Diana and Betty really worked to make sure our dietary needs were met. The rooms were clean and cool, the grounds lovely, the pool clean and inviting, the food great.

This is a charming family owned "old Mexico" hotel on the outskirts of San Blas. First impression is the lovely lobby, manicured grounds and pool area. The front desk and bell service is excellent. We had a king suite, which was quite spacious, with lovely marble and wood decor. The room was kept impeccably clean. Unfortunately, the sofa, bedspread and drapes are old and tired - badly in need of updating, and this took the room down from lovely to just ok. Chef Betty, the chef of the hotel's restaurant El Delfin, is apparently famous in Mexico as a tv personality. We ate in the restaurant several times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are foodies, and found it to be a bit hit and miss. We had a one extraordinary entree (seafood relleno with tomatoes, ginger and saffron), several very nice ones, and a few disappointing ones (the seafood soup was a bit bland and the chocolate cake was dry!). The service was always impeccable. The menu is small and the hours are short, so plan ahead. The wine list has decent Mexican wines, and they make a great margarita. Since the restaurant is priced much higher than anything else in San Blas, our expectations were high. Overall, if returning to San Blas, we would stay here again. I do hope they will update the fabric items to fit the otherwise wonderful atmosphere at Garza Canela.

Yelp
This review is for their restaurant El Delfin, the home restaurant for Betty Vasqez, Mexico's Master Chef. Most Mexicans know her for her role as advisor and judge on several cooking shows, but the locals in the San Blas area know her for the fantastic food her restaurant serves night after night. Our family and friends have had the privilege eating here for the last 14 years, and I can honestly say that it's one of the best restaurants we have encountered world wide. Mexican fusion at it's best, at a third of the price in my home town of Seattle. The wine list is small, but offers some well priced gems from Valle de Guadalupe, a very good region in the mountains of the northern Baja. Julio, our excellent waiter for the past 14 years, also makes the best margarita you will find. Start with that and finish with his excellent espresso. You can't go wrong! It's the only opportunity you will have in the Riviera Nayarit to feast on the offerings of a Cordon Blu trained chef. Don't miss it! *price range is compared to similar restaurants in Mexican resorts and worldwide.*

Yelp
The grounds are a beautiful setting, the restaurant is beautiful and the food is great. The staff is very friendly and courteous but the rooms definitely need updating. The sheets and blankets are very old as are the curtains and light fixtures.

Yelp
Lovely place in a small coastal town. Rooms are comfortable, grounds are beautiful with a beautiful chapel that would be wonderful for a wedding. Great gift shop. But the main attraction is the on-site restaurant, with Chef Betty Vasquez. This restaurant is frankly, stupendous and I don't have enough superlatives to give to it. The staff are friendly and polite, and the only downside is having to leave.
